LEXINGTON — Mary “Lib” Lohr, 93, died Jan. 26, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. before the funeral service.
Joyce Bean Harrington
OXFORD — Joyce Bean Harrington, 79, a resident at Oxford Manor of Oxford, NC, and formerly of Thomasville, NC, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 609 Liberty Dr., Thomasville, where she was a long time member.
Joyce was born on March 31, 1933, Joyce Irene Bean, daughter of Edgar and Hazel Bean. She was a 1952 graduate of Thomasville High School and worked as a secretary and receptionist most of her life. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1964.
Surviving are two sons, Steve Marlowe and wife Mary of Atlanta, and Tim Marlowe and wife June of Creedmoor; grandchildren Hannah Marlowe of Iowa City, IA, Christopher Marlowe and wife Rachel of Sheffield, AL, and Joseph Marlowe of Creedmoor.

Donald Lindsay Snyder
CHRISTIANSBURG, VA — Donald Lindsay Snyder passed away January 24, 2013. He was a resident of English Manor Assisted Living, in Christiansburg, Virginia, for the past four years.
Don was born in Archdale, NC, to the late Edward Lindsay Snyder and Bess Morgan Snyder on April 25, 1927. Upon graduating from Trinity High School, Don served in the U.S. Army, where he earned a bronze star as a military policeman during, the Korean War. Following his discharge from service, he spent the rest of his life in the horse business.
Don operated the stable at Tanglewood Park, in Clemmons, NC for several years. In 1961 he moved the business to Farmington, NC and established Trotwood Stables. For over 35 years, Don marketed many breeds of horses to clients all over the southeast. He had a talent for finding good horses and matching them with people to form harmonious partnerships. Don was active in several equine organizations and was a founding member of the Forsyth Saddle Club. Known to be the jokester, he often entered pony harness classes with his trotting mule, “Trotwood Kate”.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Bernice Shirey Snyder of Cumming, GA, his brother Richard Snyder, of High Point, NC, and a sister, Evelyn Travis, of New Orleans, LA. He is survived by his two children, Julia Lynne Snyder McCann and Donald Lindsay Snyder Jr. Julia and husband Mark reside in Newport, VA. They have two sons, Joshua Clay McCann and wife Jennifer, of Bryan, TX, and Zachary Morgan McCann of Newport, VA. Lindsay resides in Mocksville, NC. Don is also survived by sister, Janet Dugger of High Point, NC., brother, Charles Ray Snyder of College Grove, TN , and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held Sunday January 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Floral Garden Memorial Park, in High Point, N.C. Arrangements are made by DeVilbiss Funeral Home of Radford, VA.

The contact and freedom offered by a gentle horse to a special needs child is something Don championed throughout his life. He always believed in Winston Churchill’s saying, “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man”.
