Daniel Charles Brown
THOMASVILLE – Mr. Daniel Charles Brown, 89, a resident of Bonnie Regan Rd. in Thomasville passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012.
A lifelong resident of Thomasville, Daniel was born September 9, 1923, a son of the late Daniel P. Brown and Gertrude B. Cranford Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Ann Brown and his brothers and sisters. Daniel retired from the City of Thomasville, served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of Charity Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening, riding his tractor, reading his Bible and sharing his faith with others. On October 16, 1943 he married Gladys Hulin who survives of the home.
Also surviving is his daughters, Carroll B. Gray and Janice B. Cranford both of Thomasville; his son, Jerry D. Brown and wife Linda of Supply, NC; grandchildren, Tabitha Mickey, Kendra Koontz, Barry Cranford, Daniel Cranford, Tara Cranford, Jeffery Brown, Timothy Brown, Jeremy Brown, and Kimberly Brown, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2012 at Charity Baptist Church with Rev. Elton Wilborne and Rev. D.W. Long officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holly Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Daniel will remain at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. William (Bill) Edgar Dryden Jr.
THOMASVILLE – Mr. William (Bill) Edgar Dryden, Jr., 68, a resident of Beck Forest Ln. died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on March 25, 1944 in York County, VA to the late Willliam Edgar Dryden, Sr. and the late Lottie Elizabeth Richardson Dryden. He retired from Newport News Ship Building after 37 years of service. He was a US Marine Corp veteran and a member of Cedar Lodge Baptist Church, where he was an usher and vice president of The Middle Adult Sunday School Class.
On August 19, 1991, he married Elizabeth Hall, who survives of the home; also surviving are a son, Cleve Dryden of Terra Haute, IN; daughters, Sophia Saunders and husband Bob of Providence Forge, VA and Helen Long and husband Mike of Terra Haute, IN; step-son, Dean Poole of Thomasville; step-daughter, Jennifer Graham and husband Matthew of Greensboro; sisters, Jenny Barnes and husband Beverly, Linda Moore and husband William, and Mary Massey, all of Tabb, VA; two grandchildren, Dylan Brown and Zander Saunders; and three step-grandchildren, Morgan Graham, Nick Poole, and Hailey Poole.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Lodge Baptist Church with Rev. Max Evington officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00 – 11:00. Mr. Dryden will remain at the J.C. Mary Jane (Grant) Gonteski
HIGH POINT –Mary Jane (Grant) Gonteski, 36, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital. She was the loving wife of Ronnie Gonteski.
Mrs. Gonteski was born on August 30, 1976 in Guilford County a daughter of Dorothy (English) Grant of Archdale and the late Denver Ray Grant
In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Gonteski is survived by a sister, Connie Heath and husband, Barry of High Point; two nieces, Marie Heath and Donna Kay Heath; a nephew, J.R. Heath; a great niece, Serenity Skye Gainey; and a great nephew, Destin Ray Gainey.
A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale with the Rev. Amos Mashburn officiating. Burial will follow in Landmark Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Betty Ruth Hamilton Johnson
THOMASVILLE – Mrs. Betty Ruth Hamilton Johnson, 76, a resident of 304 Buie-Bodenheimer Road died Thursday, November 15, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Sumter, SC, March 24, 1936 a daughter of John Allen Hamilton and Katherine Nichols Hamilton and was a resident of Davidson County for most of her life. She had retired from Clearview Plastics in High Point and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is a daughter, Christy Boles and her husband Donald of the home; a son, Richard Lewis Johnson, Jr. and his wife Sherry of Jackson Creek; two sisters, Virginia Motley of Thomasville and Joyce Setzer and her husband Steve of Charlotte. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Donald Steve Boles, Jr. and his wife Terra, Dylan Johnson, and Jessica Johnson, and a great-grandson, Noah Boles. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 PM at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville by the Rev. Jimmy Garrett. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Otis Gene Shore
THOMASVILLE – Mr. Otis Gene Shore, age 84, of Lexington, passed away November 15, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County. Mr. Shore was born August 23, 1928 in Davie County to James and Mammie Shore who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by a wife Betty Shore who passed in 1986 and a son-in-law Leonard Worley.
He owned and operated his own retail grocery store most of his life before he retired. He leaves behind one daughter, Bonnie Shore Worley of Lexington and four sisters; Frances Milligen of Shallotte, Ethel Campbell of South Carolina, Florence Owens and Sue Groce, both of Mocksville. He also leaves two special grand-children; Tracie Worley Robertson of Winston-Salem and Jackie Worley and wife Sandy of Lexington. He was blessed to have five great grand-children as well.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, 401 W. Holly Hill Rd., Thomasville, NC 27360 with the Rev. Max Evington officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at J C Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
