SOPHIA — Bradley Wayne “Brad” Cruthis, age 26, a resident of Sophia passed away, Monday, January 13, 2014.
He was born November 18, 1987, in Guilford County, NC to Wayne Cruthis and Tammy Clem Cruthis and had been a resident of the Trinity area most of his life. He was a 2007 graduate of Trinity High School, where he played football, and was formerly employed with Carolina Container. Bradley was a member of Boy Scout Troop 19 of Archdale; he attained his Eagle Scout in January of 2006. He enjoyed scouting, playing pool, art, his pets and being social.
Surviving are his parents; Wayne and Tammy Clem Cruthis of Sophia, his sister; Megan Cruthis of the home, his paternal grandparents; Kenneth and Louise Cruthis of High Point. Also surviving are his aunts; Annette Cox and her husband Bill and Penny Cruthis Harper, and his cousin; Crystal Cox.
A service celebrate Brad’s life will be held Saturday, January 18 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Bishop Steve Rich officiating. Interment will follow in Deep River Friends Meeting cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times will be at 7000 Windcreek Court, High Point.

HIGH POINT — Mrs. Barbara Jean Osborne Adams, age 77, a resident of High Point, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2014.
She was born on May 21, 1936, in Guilford County to the late William O. Osborne and Mary Jane Barbee Osborne and had been a resident of the High Point Area all her life. Barbara was a faithful member of Landmark Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and made friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her husband; Maxie “Bo” Adams of the home, her sons; William Howard Beck, Jr. and his wife Julie of High Point, Dereck Breedlove and his wife Cindy of Sophia, her daughter; Vicki Beck Bowen and her husband Buck of Pembroke, NC, her step daughter; Angel Pruitt of South Carolina, her sister; Opal Poss and her husband Bob of Concord. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Crystal Oxendine and her husband Charles, Brittany Pendleton, Carrie Breedlove, and Caleb Breedlove, her great grandchildren; Tyler Oxendine, Austin Oxendine, and Savannah Pendleton, and a very special cousin; Jackie Mashburn.
A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held Saturday, January 18 at 2 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church, with Pastor Amos Mashburn officiating. Interment will follow in Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church and other times will be at the residence. HIGH POINT — Joe Eddie Robbins, Jr. entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital. Joe was born in High Point, NC to Joe Eddie Robbins and Rosetta Bennett Robbins on March 23, 1950. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his son, Kenichi Robbins; maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts; uncles and beloved cousins.
Joe leaves to cherish his memories, daughter, Jeannett (Robert) McCuller of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Jeassica and Maxis McCuller of Jacksonville, NC; brother, Ezell Robbins; sister, Brenda Bennett both of High Point, NC; aunts, Eva Mae Brown of Philadelphia, PA, Eloise Robbins Nesbitt of High Point, NC, Mae Etta Robbins, of Louisville, KY; a special friend, Tonya Blocker; a host of special cousins, other relatives, loving friends and faithful pets, Ghost and Lucy.

HIGH POINT — Mrs. Helen McDowell Carver, 93, also affectionately known as “Gramps” was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Genesis Triad Center where she have been a resident for several years. She was born to the late Ernest and Mary Adams McDowell on December 17, 1920, in Kings Mountain, NC. Also proceeded in death by her husband, William Lawrence Carver, two sisters, Ruth Bess and Adline Ellis, three brothers, James (Son), William and George McDowell.
Helen was a devoted and active member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church for 75 years. She was a lifetime member of The VFW, where she served in the capacity of State President, a member of the Eastern Star, and the Household of Ruth. Within these organizations, Helen was a role model for young women. She was loved and known by all in her community.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Donald (Maggie) McDowell of High Point, NC; three grandchildren, Stephanie Miles and Yolanda McDowell of High Point, NC; and Donald McDowell, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; five great grandchildren, Nicholas and Candise Covington, Brea and Essence Miles; and Zoie McDowell-Gilmore all of High Point, NC; three sisters, Victoria Bess and Joyce Jefferies of Kings Mountain, NC; and Betty (Army) Bell of South Norwalk, Conn; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and one special friend, Charles Smith.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 716 Leonard Ave., High Point, NC. Interment will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1 p.m. and other times at 507 Kent St.

Pageland, S.C.— Mr. Frank Jr. Thompson Eaddy, 66, of Pageland, SC passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014, at Carolina Medical Center in Monroe, NC. He was born in Bennettsville,SC to the late James Willie and Mozella Eaddy. He attended Marlboro County Schools.
Frank attended St. Matthew Baptist church in Pageland,SC. Frank was considered a little person with a big heart. He never met a stranger and loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, John Willie Eaddy and one sister, Rosella Eaddy.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Shakira Eaddy of Pageland, SC; three sons, Rashad Eaddy of Bennettsville, SC, Terry D. Campbell and Frank Eaddy III of Bennettsville, SC; one brother, Sam B. Eaddy of High Point; one sister, Lillie Marie Smith of High Point and brother-in-law, James E. R. L. Gibson
High Point — R. L. Gibson, 79, a life-long resident of Highland Village, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his residence.
R. L. was born in High Point, August 30, 1934, a son of the late Robert Raymond Gibson and Ida Robinson Gibson. R. L. was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and served in the Army. He operated Broadway Billiards and then owned Russell Street Grill. He was a loving husband, father and great-grandfather who loved sports and enjoyed going to the flea market. R. L. was preceded in death by two sisters, Shelby Marshall and Carolyn Newton.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Sylvia York Gibson of the home; two daughters, Tammy Colegrove of High Point and Kimberly Gibson of Archdale; a son, Robert Gibson of High Point; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Jackie Lambeth and husband Don of High Point; three brothers, Phillip Gibson and wife Violet of High Point, Charles Gibson of Greensboro and Tony Gibson and wife Miyoko of Trinity.
A Celebration of R. L.’s Life will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by the Rev. Jeff Sypole. Thomasville — Mrs. Daisy Ruth Hatfield, 81, a resident of the Brian Center in Lexington, passed away January 15, 2014.
Daisy was born on October 10, 1932, in Wyoming County, West Virginia to the late Wayne and Lena Lester England. Daisy was a member of the Thomasville Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters.
Surviving is her daughter, Rebecca Damron and her husband Jimmy of Thomasville; her grandson, Kyle Damron; four sisters, Ernestine Miller and husband Donald of Hanover, WV, Rose Merrill & husband Jim of Parkersburg, WV, Shirley Thornsbury of High Point, and Kathy Spivey and husband Johnny of Trinity; and one brother, Larry England and wife Sissy of High Point.
A celebration of Daisy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18 in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, with Minister Alan Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
