James C. Allen
GREENSBORO — James Clifford Allen, 82, died Jan. 13, 2014.

Iris Snow Amos
WINSTON-SALEM — Iris Snow Amos, age 80, of 3000 Salemtowne Drive, Winston-Salem, NC, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, after a long struggle with ALS.
She was born Dec. 30, 1933, to the Rev. Brady Foley Snow and Nannie Cassidy Snow in Surry County. In 1951 she graduated from Lowgap High School as the Valedictorian of her class. She then came to Winston-Salem to work for Wachovia Bank and Trust Company. When T.K. Amos came back from the Korean War and returned to Wachovia, they met and were married on August 13, 1955.
Mrs. Amos was known for her kindness and sweet spirit. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Pamela Kaye Amos Meyerhoeffer (Brian); son, Richard Ray Amos; five grandchildren, Sean, Bryan and Lindsay Marsden and Matthew and Sarah Faith Amos; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Kaye Marsden and Hailey Elizabeth Marsden; one brother, Henry Snow; and her sister, Irene Snow. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Herbert and Harry Snow.
The funeral service will be held at Home Moravian Church on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard L. Sides and The Right Rev. Graham Rights officiating. Interment will follow in God’s Acre at Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Home Moravian Church Parlor.

LEXINGTON — Wilbur L. Beck, 78, of Thurman Beck Road in Lexington died Jan. 12, 2014, at Pine Ridge Health & Rehabilitation in Thomasville.
A funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
LEXINGTON — Shirley Toler Dotson, 66, of Lexington died Jan. 12, 2014, at Hospice Home at High Point.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Briggs Funeral Home in Denton is serving the family.
Glenda Ree Laster Frazier
SOPHIA – Mrs. Glenda Ree Laster Frazier, age 73, of Sophia, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, went home to be with her Lord Saturday Jan. 11th at Shannon Gray Center, where she had been a patient for the past month.
Mrs. Frazier was born Dec. 11th, 1940, in Wilkes County a daughter to the late Paul H. Laster and the late Virgie Sparks Laster; however, she had been a resident of this area most of her life. She had worked in both the clerical and sales fields and spent many years at Southern Sales in Archdale. Glenda enjoyed designing, making and selling jewelry. A longtime member of Prospect United Methodist Church, she had worked with the youth of the church as long as health permitted. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Lou Laster and a brother, Kenneth Laster. On March 13th, 1959 she married Jerry Lee Frazier, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are her daughter, Teresa Hill Hopkins and her husband Walter of Winston-Salem; a son Reverend Marty Frazier and his wife Mary of Archdale; six grandchildren, Ryan Hill, Dustin Hill, Clintin Hill, Matthew Frazier, Christina Frazier, Kathleen Frazier and one great-grandson, Koby Hill. Also surviving are three sisters, Wanda Wright and her husband Earl, Judy Cochrane and her husband Randy, Jo Jarrett and her husband Bill; four brothers, Bill Laster, Gene Laster and his wife Barbara, Danny Laster and his wife Nancy, David Laster and his wife Robin and two sisters-in-law, Darlene Laster and Betty Bundy.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Prospect United Methodist Church with the Reverend Susan Mitchell and the Reverend Marty Frazier officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale and other times at the home of her son Marty.

Wesley “Jake” Harvell
HIGH POINT — Mr. Wesley (Jake) Harvell, 84, a lifelong resident of Guilford County, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at the Hospice Home of High Point.
He was born on Dec. 12, 1929, to the late Manson Harvell and Alma Reddick Havell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Cranford Harvell and brothers, Lloyd, Garland, and Olin Harvell.
Surviving is his daughter, Lakita Harvell Carden and husband Mike, grandchildren; Michelle Carden and Lance Carden and wife Lee. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren and one brother; Robert Harvell.
A Memorial Luncheon will be held Saturday Jan. 18th at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Thomasville.

LEXINGTON — Catherine Barnhardt Hedrick, 66, of Wood Valley Court, died Jan. 12, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Smith Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Jacob Madison Lopp, 85, a resident of Thomasville, NC passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.
Jacob was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Davidson County, NC a son of the late George Elmer Lopp and Myrtie Fritts Lopp and had made this area his home all of his life. He was retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries after working there for sixty years. Jacob was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and the Coy Grubb Sunday School Class. He loved farming and gardening and sharing the crops that he raised.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, George Edward Lopp; a brother, William (Bill) Lopp; sisters, Mary Southern and Josephine Tysinger. On Sept. 10, 1948 he married Alline Beatrice Hughes who also preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 2010.
Surviving is his son, Jerry W. Lopp and wife Donna of Thomasville; brother, George Lopp, Jr. of Thomasville; sisters, Daisy Crisp and Alta Crotts both of Lexington. Also surviving is his grandchildren, Joel Lopp and wife Lindsey and Lori Powell and husband Robby; great grandchildren, Troy Lopp, Tate Powell, Tanner Powell, and his canine companion Harley.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in the Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. David Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Lopp will remain at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m.

Benny Lee Prevette
HIGH POINT — Benny Lee Prevette, 57, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at his residence.
He was the loving husband of Donna Ellen (Riggins) Prevette. Mr. Prevette was born on June 10, 1956 in Wilkes County a son of Eva Ilene Poplin of High Point and the late Carlyle Prevette. He was a former employee of R.K. Stewart and Son Builders and currently employed with Absolute Style Furniture..
He was an avid NASCAR, Duke Basketball, and Alabama fan. He was also a very generous man who would do anything for those he loved, especially his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Prevette is survived by four brothers, John Wayne Prevette of High Point, Jimmy Prevette and his wife, Debbie (Summerland) of High Point, Ricky Dean Prevette of High Point, and Michael Dale Prevette and his wife, Cathy of Boston, MA; two sisters, Viola Louise (Prevette) Hankins and her husband, William of Sophia, and Faye (Prevette) Honeycutt and husband, Allen of Lexington; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cats and dog.
A celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at New Covenant Church of God, 5945 Mendenhall Road Exd, Archdale, with Rev. Riley Puckett and Rev. Stephen Disher officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Church.
