James Atwood
THOMASVILLE — Mr. James (Jim) Calvin Atwood, 60, a lifelong resident of Thomasville died on Friday, April 18, 2014 at his home. He was born in Davidson County on January 15, 1954, a son of the late Calvin Vestal Atwood and Lucella Morris Atwood. Jim worked at his family owned business, Atwood Oil, for most of his life. He was a hard worker and a great husband, step-father, brother and friend.
Surviving is his wife of 28 years, Ann Price Atwood of the home. He also leaves behind step-daughters; Angela Hall and fiancé Roy of Reedy Creek and Tina Price and fiancé Gary of Thomasville. Also surviving is his sister, Marsha Black and husband Vaughn of Welcome, two grandchildren; Andy Price and Zachary Price, a great-grandchild; Patricia Price, niece Kim Pendry and nephew James Black. Jim was also blessed with four great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 11 A.M. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 P.M.  Online condolences may be sent to the Atwood family at

Lucille Ridge Burgess
TRINITY — Mrs. Lucille Ridge Burgess, age 86 died unexpectedly April 19th in High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born in North Carolina and was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she was involved in many activities.  Mrs. Burgess was a devoted mother, wife, and loved having her family around her.   She will always be remembered as a great cook.  Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her parents Dallas and Dessie Holder and a sister, Faye Newby, and a brother, Merlon Holder.
Surviving are her husband Howard Burgess of Trinity, her children, Steve Ridge and wife Sandy; Annie Evans and husband Paul; Doug Ridge and wife Helen; David Ridge and Cindy Ridge Sink and husband Steve.  Mrs. Burgess has three  stepchildren; Donna Davis and husband Ernie; Bob Burgess and wife Alicia and Bonna Wilkins.  There are two sisters; Peggy Holder Ward of Chattanooga, TN and Kathleen Jackson of Jonesville, SC and a loving sister-in-law, Virginia Holder of Chattanooga. TN.  She has ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service in Archdale by the Reverend Dave Williams.  The family will receive friends at Sechrest from 10:00 until 11:00 am prior to the service.
