HIGH POINT — Nancy Monroe Kelly Biggs, age 81, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in High Point. The daughter of the late Captain Clayton L. Monroe and Dorothy Ridgell Monroe. She graduated from High Point High School where she was an honor student and played violin in the orchestra. Nancy graduated as an honor student with a B.S. from Wake Forest College and Bowman-Gray School of Medical Technology. She later attended King College, Virginia Intermont and ETSU, earning her Masters Degree in Instructional Communication.
Community activities include leadership in Border Guild (Junior League), Virginia Parrish Study Club, Child Study Club, Doctors Wives Association, Haynesfield PTA, THS Band Boosters and Cub Scouts. Professionally, Nancy participated in early RNA and DNA research at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. She also worked as a medical technologist in Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and in Saudia Arabia. She served on the Tennessee State Laboratory Advisory Board and was recognized by Mount Holyoke College with a “Women in Science” award. Nancy enjoyed dancing and world travel.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Dr. Ronald C. Kelly; sons, Dr. David M. Kelly and Kevin L. Kelly; husband, Lieutenant Colonel Odie E. Biggs. Survivors include her brother, Clayton L.”Rusty” Monroe (Suzie); daughter, Dr. Shannon Kelly; daughters-in-law, Debra Norman Jones and Diana Chapman Kelly; grandchildren, Beth Price (Kenny), Nathan Kelly (Rachael), Lauren Kelly, Shelby Lowe, Paden Kelly Lowe; great-granddaughter, Maggie Kelly.
Nancy donated her remains to the Quillen School of Medicine and will ultimately rest in Loche Lowe, Seanachie Meadow Farm in Blaine, Tennessee. A joint Celebration of Life Service for Nancy and her late husband Odie Elmer Biggs was held Monday, April 14, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel at State Street United Methodist Church, Bristol, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Special Needs Van Fund at State Street UMC, 300 West Valley Drive, Bristol, Va. 24201. HIGH POINT — Mary McLeod Willis Fulk, 103, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Hospice of the Piedmont. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at the chapel of Cumby Funeral Home on Eastchester. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at Cumby. Interment will follow funeral services at Floral Garden Memorial Park.
Mary was born in High Point on February 15, 1911, to Eli Stanley and Rebecca Elizabeth Riley McLeod. She was preceded in death by her first husband William Jack Willis in 1960, her second husband K. Herman Fulk in 1993 and her granddaughter Kristen Leigh Willis in 1982. Surviving are daughter, Betty King (Lewis), of Alabaster, Ala., and sons, William Jack Willis (Judy Chostner), of Raleigh, and Jerry Willis (Jane Ferguson), of High Point. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Piedmont. Arrangements were made through Cumby Family Funeral Service on Eastchester Drive in High Point.
SILVER VALLEY — Mr. Oral Aicher “O.J.” Jarrett, 59, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence with his family by his side. A resident of this area all of his life, O.J. was born on June 1, 1954, in Lexington, to Carson Floyd and Zeola Coppley Jarrett. He was a graduate of Central Davidson High School and of the Baptist Faith. O.J. enjoyed watching television, especially Nascar, and spending time with his family.
He was the loving husband of Terri Smith Jarrett. He had been a truck driver for many years and had worked at Styline Logisitics in High Point and previously MGM Transport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Rodney Jarrett. Surviving is his wife, Terri Smith Jarrett, of the home; daughter, Tonya Akines and her husband, Mark, of Lexington; son, Randy Jarrett of Lexington; and grandchildren, Hannah and Josh Akines. Also surviving are his brothers, Mitchell Jarrett and his wife, Debbie, of Lexington and Tony Jarrett and his wife, Joyce, of Thomasville; and his sister-in-law, Lisa Jarrett of Lexington.
A celebration of O.J.’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Workman and Rev. John Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Community Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street. HIGH POINT — Mrs. Angela Safrit Jones, 50, went to be with her Lord Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Hospice Home at High Point following a brief battle with cancer. Angela was born in Thomasville, March 14, 1964, a daughter of the late Rev. C. A. Safrit and Ruby Grey Safrit. She was a very selfless person who was always caring for others. Angela grew up in her father’s church, Promise Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 28 years, Bill Jones, of the home; two daughters, Courtney Hollingsworth and her husband, Shane, of Lexington, and Ashley Jones of Thomasville; a son, Jonathon Jones and wife, Julie, of Trinity; two brothers, Butch Safrit and wife, Peggy, and Ronald Safrit and wife, Lisa, both of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Bailey Hollingsworth, Jayden and Jenna Jones and MaMaw Angie’s babies.

JAMESTOWN — Beatrice Allen Sechrest, 101 years of age, of Jamestown, North Carolina passed away on April 13, 2014, at Shannon Gray Nursing Home in Jamestown. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service on E. Lexington Avenue with the Reverend Eric Peacock officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from noon until the hour of the service. Beatrice was born in Stokes County, near King, N.C., to Claty Roy and Lummie Boyles-Allen on June 18, 1912. She was educated in the High Point Public School System. She was a devoted Mother and housewife all of her life. She enjoyed attending church at North Main Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir there for twenty-two years. She opened the first nursery and served as secretary of the WMU. She was lately a member of Westchester Baptist Church. She loved to write poetry, some of which was published in the High Point Enterprise.
Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Linda Sechrest, of Jamestown, her two sons, James and wife, Carol, of Columbia, S.C., and Thomas of Greensboro, two grandchildren Adam Sechrest, Michael Sechrest and wife, Melissa, and three great grandchildren, Claire, Colin and Harrison Sechrest as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Sechrest, and eight siblings.

Johnny “Mike” Stutts
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Johnny Michael “Mike” Stutts, age 61, a resident of 6820 Wright Rd., passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1952, in Montgomery County, N.C. Mr. Stutts worked in construction and was a truck driver for many years. He was of the Pentecostal Faith. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband, son, brother and uncle, and was a special friend to many. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Steven Stutts; baby sister, Janet Elaine Stutts; and three infant siblings; paternal grandparents, John and Bessie Stutts Sr., and maternal grandparents, Sidney and Rebecca Whitaker.
On July 2, 1971, he married Brenda Sue Marsh, who survives of the home. They were married for 42 years. Also surviving is his mother, Dorothy Whitaker Overman and husband, Raymond, of Archdale; three daughters, Susan Michelle Stone and husband, Jerry, of Thomasville, Amber Nicole “Nikki” Bridgeman and fiancé, Greg Harlan, of Oak Ridge; and Sabrina Dawn Morton and fiancé, John Hardister, of Thomasville; one son, Dakota Shane Stutts and fiancée, Lelia, of the home; one sister, Lisa Grooms and husband, Sonny, of Thomasville; nine grandchildren, Brittany Wilson, Tony Wilson, Emily Wilson, Chase Bridgeman, Matthew Watkins, Austin Hamilton, Bryson Morton, Jayden Stutts and Isabella Stutts; nieces and nephews, Hunter Grooms, Hayley Grooms, and Hannah Grooms; and other numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 2 p.m. in J. C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Ottis Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home. Memorials may be directed to Hayworth Cancer Center, High Point Regional Hospital, 601 North Elm Street, High Point, N.C. 27262. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the special nurses, Linda Joy and Katen Love.
