Helen Bray
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Helen Foy Hayes Bray, 97, a resident of Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, died Friday morning, April 11, 2014, in the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. She was born January 25, 1917, in Guilford County, a daughter of James A. Hayes and Ila Black Hayes. She was a Homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Thomasville.
Mrs. Bray was preceded in death by her husband Chester Wade Bray and brothers, James A. Hayes and Frank Hayes. Surviving are a son, Terry Wade Bray and wife, Brenda, of King, N.C., a daughter, Judy Beck of Archdale, a sister, Marian Yarbrough of Thomasville, a grandson, Kevin Beck and wife, Tracey, and a great-grandson, Brody Wade Beck.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 14, 2014, at 2 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Michael Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be directed to Hinkle Hospice House, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, N.C. 27292 or to the First Baptist Church, 8 Cramer Street, Thomasville, N.C. 27360. Polly Cole
DENTON — Mrs. Dorothy “Polly” Cranford Cole, age 90, of Denton died Friday, April 11, at her home. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Briggs Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, prior to the service. Briggs Funeral Home is serving the Cole family.

Elsie Coltrane
LEXINGTON — Mrs. Elsie Coltrane, 82, died April 11, 2014, at Hinkle House Hospice in Lexington. Arrangements are pending at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

Lee James Embry
THOMASVILLE — Lee James Embry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County. Born in Banks County Georgia on May 10, 1920, Mr. Embry was the son of Jesse Joseph Embry and Lenora Lord Embry. He was a lifelong resident of Thomasville and had most recently resided at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. He attended the Thomasville City Schools.
Mr. Embry was an active member of West End United Methodist Church where he served in many roles over the past sixty years. He was also a past member of the Thomasville Civitan Club. He served in the United States Army in Panama during World War II. He and his family owned and operated Embry Laundry and Cleaners in Thomasville until his retirement. He was always there to help anyone in need or lend a helping hand.
In 1945 he married the love of his life, Margie Allgood Embry. One of his final days was spent recently celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary. They affectionally called each other “The Happy Embrys!” She will always be his sweetheart. He is also survived by a daughter, Sharon Embry Fouts of Greensboro. In addition to his wife and daughter, his family includes two grandchildren, Lenora Fouts Kraft and her husband, Andy, of Apex, and George Michael Fouts, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Jamestown. He was the great grandfather of Camden Elizabeth Kraft, Hunter Andrew Kraft, Carson Michael Fouts and Nathan Brinkley Fouts. Mr. Embry is also survived by two brothers, Bud Embry of Thomasville and Boley Embry of Alexandria, Virginia. Preceding him in death were three sisters, Jesse Miller, Roberta Parsons and Irene Lawson.
Services for Mr. Embry will be held at JC Green and Sons Funeral Home on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at 3 p.m. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Holly Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Piedmont Crossing Benevolent Trust or to West End United Methodist Church. The family would like to offer sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Embry’s caregivers at Piedmont Crossing  who demonstrated professional and loving care not only to him but to his family.

HIGH POINT — Alvester Hughes, Sr., 76, of 808 George Place, died on Monday, April 7, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, 906 Meredith St. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park.
