Erman Eugene Black
TRINITY — Mr. Erman Eugene Black, 76, a resident of Tabernacle Church Road, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Hospice Home at High Point. He was born on April 27, 1937, in Randolph County to James Lee Black and Nannie Alma Briles Black. He retired from Dixie Container and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where he was very active with the church especially during his younger years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fallie Lou Hooks Black on May 23, 1983, whom he married January 29, 1955; sister, Kathleen Mabe; brother, James Black; and two grandsons, Donnie Nance and Steve Deatherage.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Coleman and husband Robert of the home, and Teresa Nance and husband Billy of Lexington; one grandson, Ricky Nance of Polkton, NC; and one great-granddaughter, Skylar Nance.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Myra Ward-Brown and Rev. Craig O’Hara officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Black will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Lois Sink Brown
GREENSBORO — Mrs. Lois Sink Brown, 81, peacefully passed to Heaven to join her loving husband and her Savior on September 25, 2013. She had been in declining health for several years, enduring a great deal but valiantly fought a good fight  and now her suffering is over. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., September 28, at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Lois was born in Guilford County to the late Mr. and Mrs. George Feree and Florence Virginia Rich Sink. In 1952 she married Hugh I. Brown, Jr. and enjoyed almost 60 years together until his death in July 2012. Both Mr. and Mrs. Brown were lovingly cared for at Clapp’s Nursing Center, and the family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff for the compassion and understanding shown to their parents during their residency and especially thanks Robin, who was very dear to Mrs. Brown. She was a finisher with Amos Hosiery Mill for more than 30 years. She loved her family and was a wonderful mother. She took great pride in her home, taught her children the value of hard work, the importance of taking care of what you achieved through hard work and the joy of giving to others.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Danny Brown of Wallburg and Vicki Yarborough and husband Jimmy of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Jason, Derek, Jake, and Josh; great-granddaughter, Ansley; and sister-in-law, Louise Brown of Thomasville.

GREENSBORO — Margaret Fagg, 76, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013. Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.

 

Herman Jarvis
ARCHDALE — Herman Eugene Jarvis, 59, of Beard Avenue, died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Leonard Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mr. Jarvis was born September 9, 1954, in Davidson County, to Cabble Herman Jarvis Jr. and Laura Byerly Jarvis. He was an equipment operator for the city of High Point. He was a faithful servant to the Lord, choir director, usher, trustee, played music and sang at his church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Legana “Jeannie” Hepler Jarvis.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Martin Jarvis of the home; daughters, Laura Ann Everette of Winston-Salem; two loving stepchildren, Thomas Lee Folsom and wife Michelle and Dawn Renee Gaunce and husband Chris, all of Archdale; grandchildren, Dustin Everette, Kyndal Folsom, Jackson McDuffie, Kaidyn Folsom, Riley McDuffie, and Caleb Everette; and uncle, Paul Jarvis and wife, Ethel of Welcome.

Dorothy Leonard
ARCHDALE — Ms. Dorothy Parker Leonard, age 79, of Archdale, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Hospice Home at High Point.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m., September 28, 2013, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Jonah Parker and Rev. Eddie Tharpe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Ms. Leonard was born July 13, 1934, in Wilkes County to Flate and Amanda Tedder Parker. She retired from T.J. Maxx and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a son, Michael Leonard and a brother, Eugene Parker.
She is survived by: one daughter, Patsy Johnson and husband, Tim of Archdale; one son, Jerry Leonard and wife, Denny of Daleville, VA; three sisters, Margaret Harris of Denton, Mabel Church and husband, Max of Elkin, Gwendolyn White and husband, John of Moravian Falls; one brother, Andrew Parker and wife, Gayle of Moravian Falls; sister-in-law, Rosa Nell Parker of North Wilkesboro; four grandchildren, Scott Johnson, Lisa Norris, Grant Leonard, Brooke Leonard; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Victoria Norris and Tillon Norris.
