Samuel Briles
ASHEBORO — Charles Samuel Briles, 63, of Asheboro, died Sat., November 16, 2013.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Randolph Memorial Park. Visitation will be at 152 Anchor St. Ridge Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.


Edra Oakley Cain
Mrs. Edra Oakley Cain, 92, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Nov. 17, 2013, at Westchester Manor in High Point.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. A. Edward Beddingfield Jr. presiding. The burial will follow at White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in White Oak. Edra was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Elwood “Bill” Cain, her parents, George and Beatrice Oakley, and her brother, LeRoy Oakley.
She is survived by her son, Elwood S. “Woodie” Cain Jr. and wife, Sandra, of High Point; daughter, Pamela Cain Sutton and husband, Jim, of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Ashley Cain Thompson and husband, Freiler, Victoria Sutton, Michael Cain, Savanna Sutton, and Kristin Cain; great-granddaughter, Addison Cain; and four sisters, Myrtle Carter of Fayetteville, Ethelyn Page of Fayetteville, Leila Lancaster of Hope Mills and Patricia Willis of St. Pauls.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215 or White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to First Baptist Church, Old and Anderson streets, Fayetteville NC 28301.

Jane S. Collins
MOUNT DESERT, Maine — Jane S. Collins, 90, of Mount Desert, Maine, and formerly of High Point, N.C., died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 2, 2013, at Westgate in Bangor, Maine.
Born in Bethlehem, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Mabel Heffner Schaeffer. She resided in Kutztown, Pa.,  with her parents and three siblings, Peggy, Ann and Dick and moved to Charlotte, N.C., while in middle school. After high school, Jane attended Queen’s College in Charlotte, then worked as a secretary at the local munitions plant. On Nov. 6, 1944, she married George O. Collins of Charlotte. During and after World War II, they settled in Charlotte and in 1945 were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Ricky. After moving to High Point, their son Bob was born in 1954. Her passion and focus always centered around George, her children, family and homemaking. Her joy in children grew with the arrival and visits of four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Following the death of George, she moved to Maine to be near family in her last years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Jane is survived by a daughter, Ricky C. Martin and husband Kenneth W. of Greenville S.C.; a son, Robert N. Collins and wife Paige D. of Mount Desert, Maine; grandchildren, Kimberly Allred and husband Alan; Stacey McGowan and partner C. Evans Putman; Joshua Collins; Kari Collins-Guillen and husband David Guillen Guerrero; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Joey McGowan; Zackary Barringer; Madison, Reilly, and Brooks Allred; and Chloe Michaela Putman.  She is survived by her sister, Ann S. Schaeffer, of Indiana, Pa.
Visitation will be in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church, High Point, Nov. 25, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Westgate Residential Council. 750 Union St., Bangor, ME 04401.


Horace Conner
LEXINGTON — Richard Horace Conner, 87, of Birkdale Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. Burial with military rites will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home.

Virginia Hudson Jones
JAMESTOWN — Virginia Hudson Jones, 87, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Westchester Manor, High Point. She was born in Winnsboro, S.C., to the late Albert and Pearl Wylie Hudson. Virginia was married to Charles J. Jones on Jan. 1, 1950, and enjoyed 63 years of marriage life to Charles. She was a member of the Montlieu United Methodist Church in High Point, which has now joined Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Greensboro. She was a youth leader at the Montlieu church for many years. She was a bookkeeper for Snow Lumber Company for many years. Virginia loved gardening and dancing. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her. Virginia is survived by her husband Charles of the home, two daughters, Sandra Jones Jordan of Sanford, N.C., Leslie Jones Johnson and husband Tom of Fullerton, Calif., a son Michael Hudson Jones and wife Joanne of Knightdale, N.C., a sister Mary Hudson Collins of Raleigh, N.C., and four grandchildren, Charles William Jordan, Christopher James Johnson, Daniel Whitley Jones and Laura Catherine Jones.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, 11 a.m. at Sechrest Funeral Chapel in High Point.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, Wendover Avenue, Greensboro.

LEXINGTON — Nancy Davis Coble Koontz, 77, of Center Church Road, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.
