Troy Lee Curry
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Troy Lee Curry, 88 of Thomasville died on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Curry was born on March 9, 1925 in Davidson County to Willie L. and Mable L. Eddinger Curry. He was a World War II Veteran and served his country with the 508th Airborne Division that was attached to the 82nd Airborne Division. Troy (Chalkie) graduated from barber school in 1947. He was owner and operator of Piedmont Barber Shop, having worked there from 1949 until the age of 80. He had been a practicing barber for 58 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris Murphy Curry and a daughter Derree Beusse.
Surviving are a son Troy L. Curry Jr. and wife Shelley F. Curry, a son-in-law Carroll Beusse, a daughter-in-law Kay Curry, a brother James Curry, five grandchildren: Jane Evans, Jason Curry, Ann Centeno and husband Alex, Jannell Curry and Jenese Mesner and husband Jason, four great-grandchildren: Jocelyn and Sydney Evans, Brayden Curry and Oliver Mesner.

Helen English Nelson
DALLAS, GA. —Mrs. Helen English Nelson, age 102, of Dallas, Ga., a former long-time resident of High Point, passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, near her family and close to her caring nephew and his wife, Jack and Nancy Waldrep.
Mrs. Nelson was born on Sept. 1, 1911, in Anderson, S.C., daughter of the late Floyd English and Eva Cartee English. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis B. Nelson, to whom she was married on June 4, 1940, and by four brothers Tillman English, Dorsey English, Dr. Carl English, and Lee English. She is survived by two brothers, Millard English and Marvin English; a sister, Juanita Waldrep; nephews, Jack and Nancy Waldrep of Dallas, Ga., Marvin and Sharon Waldrep of Smyrna, Ga., David and Margaret Waldrep of Marietta, Ga., Brent and Helen Sheppard of Morganton, N.C., and other nieces and nephews.
In 1946 Helen, along with her husband, Francis, founded Nelson Florist & Decorators, on Main Street in High Point. For many years they provided flowers for the High Point Furniture Market, weddings, funerals, the Debutante Ball, and to those who just needed to “Say It With Flowers.” As members of the First United Methodist Church, each Sunday for many years the Nelsons quietly donated flowers to the Glory of God. They also lovingly supported and helped raise many young students who worked in the florist and led them to success in life. Helen was a natural piano player who played professionally in her early years, and at age 102, played the piano at her own birthday party. Helen was a member of the Altrusa Club.
The family will receive friends in Hiram, Ga. at the Clark Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m. The family will receive friends in High Point, N.C. at Cumby Family Funeral Service on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. with graveside services at 2 p.m. at the Guilford Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Christopher Fitzgerald officiating.

Toby Morrison
SANFORD — Toby Reid Morrison, 72, of Sanford, N.C. died Nov. 3, 2013 at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness surrounded by family and friends.
Toby was born in Lee County Hospital on March 23, 1941. He was the son of the late Dan T. Morrison and Pauline Cox Morrison. Toby graduated Moncure High School in 1959 and as a youth, attended Moncure Methodist Church where he participated as a choir member. After graduation from Mitchell’s Hair Styling in Raleigh, N.C., Toby opened his first successful business in Sanford; Toby’s Hairstyling at 107 Gordon Street, winning many competitions in hair design. In 1989, Toby began his second career as an interior designer.  He opened The Design Studio at 138 S. Steele Street and became a leader in the state in interior design. He was active in promoting furniture manufacture and fabric design in the state and was the first interior designer to serve on the board of directors for the High Point Design Center. Locally, Toby promoted downtown Sanford by working with several community boards and charitable organizations. He will be remembered for his creativity, his wit and his gentle heart.
He is survived by his brother, Mack Morrison of Moncure, N.C.; sisters, Gail M. Thomas and husband Halford, Jennie Arnold and husband Wesley, all of Broadway; one aunt, Sadie Lou Coley of South Carolina; also survived by nephews, Jonathan Sullivan and Brian Gillis both of Broadway; Carlton Morrison, Tracy Morrison both of Durham and Travis Arnold of Broadway; one niece Courtney Gillis May of Mt. Airy, Md. and several cousins.
The family would like to offer their gratitude to his many friends who supported Toby with their care and concern.  And the family offers a special thanks you to the staff at Sanford Health and Rehabilitation.
All are invited to celebrate the life of Toby at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at Carolina Trace Country Club, Sanford, N.C.
Private interment will be held at a later date.

Grace (Boone) Grizzel
HIGH POINT — Grace (Boone) Grizzel, 70, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Mrs. Grizzel was born on Aug. 8, 1943 in Faison, N.C., a daughter of the late Henry and Lillie (Brown) Boone. She was a 1961 graduate of Cradock High School in Portsmouth, Va. Following school, she worked as a telephone operator until her sons were born, and later worked as an office manager for various furniture companies.
She was an active and devoted member of Westchester Baptist Church and was very involved in West End Ministries in her spare time.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who cherished spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Grizzel is survived by two sons, Jeff Grizzel and his wife, Jodi of Falls Church, Va., and Douglas Grizzel of North Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Lee Boone and his wife, Brenda of Winston-Salem; a sister, Betty Curtin of Portsmouth, Va.; three grandchildren, Austin Jake Grizzel of Thomasville, and Katherine Cole Grizzel and Graydon Patrick Grizzel, both of Lorton, Va.; a very close friend, M.J. Creed of High Point; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at Westchester Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Peacock officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point.
The family of Mrs. Grizzel would like to send a special thank you to all the staff at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, especially Dr. Lentz and Dr. Bridge and the nurses on the 10th floor of the Reynolds Tower.

HIGH POINT — Jean Ann Chase, 84, of High Point, formerly of Johnstown, Penn., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 4, 2013 at The Shannon Gray Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, Jamestown. She was born on April 9, 1929 in Patton, Penn., daughter of Alvin M. and Ruth A. (Boley) Dietrick. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A. Chase; sisters, Elaine Bennett, Ruth Volk, and M. Lois Gill and brother, Richard Dietrick. She is survived by her loving daughter, Margaret A. “Peggy”, wife of James S. Bell, High Point; grandsons, Douglas (Mary Kay) Bell, High Point,  and J. Lance (Melissa) Bell, Hebron, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Nichole, Connor, Lorin, Cooper , and Emily Bell; sister, Ella Mae Stossel, Somerset, Penn. and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean Ann retired from Bali Bra Company, where she was employed as a seamstress. She was a former member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and the Richland American Legion Post #849, Ladies Auxiliary, both in Johnstown, PA. Jean Ann was a current member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, High Point; and the High Point Newcomers Club. She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards and socializing with her friends. Jean Ann loved spending time with her entire family, especially her grandsons and great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Johnstown, PA, where Vigil for the deceased will be held. LEXINGTON — Fannie Mae Bean Younts, 95, of Lexington Health Care, died Tuesday, Nov. 05, 2013, at the nursing home.
