Phil Coggins
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Stanley “Phil” Phillip Coggins, Sr., 74, of Mt. Zion Church Road, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013, at his home. He was born in Davidson County September 7, 1939, to Floyd Edgar and Katherine Jackson Coggins. Mr. Coggins was a lab operator with the Thomasville City Water Plant and served in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law Alan Clodfelter.
Mr. Coggins is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Grubb Coggins of the home; daughter, Crystal Clodfelter of Denton; two sons, Stan Coggins and wife April of Thomasville, and Chris Coggins and wife Tammy of Lexington; and three grandsons, Phillip Coggins, Brandon Coggins, and Colton Coggins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Holly Hill Memorial Park with the Reverend Chuck Garner officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 12:30 p.m until time of service at the funeral home. Worth Polson
MONROE-Worth Gordon Polson, 80, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation, Monroe, NC, where he had been a resident.
Mr. Polson was born on July 9, 1933, in High Point, a son of the late John W. and Ruby (Coleman) Polson. He was a 1951 graduate of High Point High School and attended Nyack College in Nyack, NY. He later was employed for many years by Belk as the head buyer for women’s coats and suits out of their New York office.
Mr. Polson is survived by two nephews, Carl A. “Buster” Ellison, III of Greensboro, and Brian Williams of Trinity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Claudette P. Williams.
A private graveside service was held at Deep River Friends Meeting Cemetery.

Jannie O’Kelley
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Jannie Iola Potts O’Kelley, 92, a former resident of Bryan Street, died Saturday morning, October 26, 2013, at the Hospice Home at High Point.
She was born in Lavonia, Georgia, a daughter of Walker Bailey Potts and Vivian Kirby Potts. Mrs. O’Kelley was a retired employee with Parkdale Mills, Inc. of Thomasville. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
She was married to Ovie Lee O’Kelley, who preceded her in death July 20, 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Wilda Melanie Sanchez and husband Michelangel of Phoenix, Az.; two sons, Jerry W. O’Kelley and wife Polly of Greensboro and Douglas L. O’Kelley and wife Peggy of Thomasville; six grandsons, two granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday, October 28, 2013, at 3:30p.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Peggy Finch officiating.
Mrs. O’Kelley will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until the service hour. The family will receive friends prior to the service, Monday 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Willie Paradise
Archdale — Mr. Willie (Bill) Paradise, 91, resident of 119 Apollo Circle died Saturday morning in Hospice House of Randolph County.
Mr. Paradise was born Sept. 27, 1922, in Jackson County, Alabama a son of Ira and Mary Downs Paradise. He had been a resident of Archdale and vicinity for the past 45 years and was retired from Henderson Machine Company. Mr. Paradise was a man of strong faith and walked the Christian life daily. He was a member of Gospel Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman. He was married to Oneta Smith who survives of the home.
Also surviving are 2 daughters; Jeanette Inman of Concord and Teresa Hicks and husband Harold of Gibsonville; 1 son; Hershell Paradise and wife Shirley of Asheboro;1 Brother; Phillip Paradise of Rossville, Ga., 5 Grandchildren; Sherry Paradise, Angela Inman, Sandy Inman, Carrie Doss and husband Dustin and Cliff Prater and wife Eva, and 6 Great Grandchildren. Mr. Paradise was preceded in death by 3 Brothers.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale by the Rev. Tim White. Interment will follow in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Pete Hunsucker, Craig McDarius, Winfred, Jimmy, Jeff, and Darrell Smith.

Alfred Davis
JAMESTOWN — Mr. Alfred Claude Davis, 87, a resident of Jamestown died Saturday October 26, 2013, at the Hospice Home of High Point. Mr. Davis was born April 14, 1926, in Charlotte, the son of Bernard and Elsie Daisy Stone Davis. He was a graduate of North Carolina State College (N.C. State University) and was a well known architect in the Greensboro area. Mr. Davis was a member of the Jamestown Presbyterian Church where he served as a church Elder and a church Deacon. His hobbies included reading, painting as well as sketching.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Pauline “Polly” Davis on July 2, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert George Davis and Tim Davis.
Surviving is his daughter, Deborah “Debby” Davis Foster and husband Ron of Jamestown; two sons, Alfred Daniel “Danny” Davis and wife Ann and George Michael Davis and wife Amy all of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Kevin Foster and wife Meridith, Brittney Foster, Matthew Davis and wife Natasha, Daniel Davis and two great grandchildren, Madison and Mackenzie Foster.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Jamestown Presbyterian Church conducted by Newton Cowan. Entombment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Jamestown Presbyterian Church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time.

Julia Pegram
High Point — Mrs. Julia Elizabeth Jones Pegram, 86, resident of Westchester Manor at Providence Place, died October 26, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Pegram was born May 10, 1927, in Salisbury, NC, a daughter to the late William P. and Ara Weston Jones. She was a resident of the Deep River and Allen Jay communities all her life and was a member of Fairfield United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker most of her life but had worked for a period of time at Creative Design. On July 2, 1948, she married Francis (Fanny) Pegram who preceded her in death on November 11, 2009. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded by a daughter, Elizabeth Jane Craver in 1976; a son, David W. Pegram in 2012; two sisters, Jean Hayes and Sandra J. Martin; and a brother, Bill W. Jones.
Surviving is her son, Danny R. Pegram and wife Suzanne of Crowley, TX; her daughter, Melanie Karen Weidt of Jamestown; two sisters, Nancy F. Williams of Michigan and Lynn Dehart of Hayesville; her brother, Richard (Dickey) Jones of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Jill Auman officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Ruby Hutchens
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Ruby Lee Ridenhour Hutchens, 78, a resident of Oaklawn Drive, died Saturday evening, October 26, 2013, in the Forsyth Medical Center. She was born August 11, 1935, in Cabarrus County, a daughter of Cletus Ridenhour and Onnie Furr Ridenhour. She was a Homemaker and a member of The Well (formerly Church of Tomorrow). In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Geneva Glover and Viola Glover and brothers, Ralph Ridenhour and Hoyle “Short” Ridenhour.
On December 24, 1955, she was married to Roy Hutchens, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are daughters, Nancy Whitman and husband Terry and Debra Hutchens, both Thomasville; a son, Ricky Dale Hutchens and wife Katie of Thomasville; sisters, Betty Russell of Albemarle and Dianne Winfree and husband Gerald of Richfield; brothers, Cletus “Bud” Ridenhour of Richfield and Tony Ridenhour and wife Janice of Albemarle; grandchildren, Heather Carroll and husband Brandon, Erin Whitman, Kaylee Hutchens, Lauren Hutchens and Jacob Hutchens; and a great-grandson, Bram Carroll.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Huey Turner officiating. Entombment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of her daughter Nancy at 616 Lakeview Drive, Thomasville.

Virginia Kearns
LEXINGTON — Mrs. Ida Virginia Cody Kearns, age 90, of Brookstone Retirement Center, and formerly of Old Linwood Road, Lexington, NC passed away early Sunday 10-27-2013 at Brookstone.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Following the burial, a Celebration of life Service will be held in the Church sanctuary and the family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
Among her survivors are a daughter, Tamara Kearns Regan and husband Howard L. Regan of High Point, one grandson; Jonathan Lee Regan and wife Leslie Hill Regan, and one great granddaughter; Kennidi Elizabeth Regan, all of Lexington.

Norman Foy
High Point — Norman Edward “NE” (Brother) Foy of High Point and formally of Jacksonville. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013.
Mr. Foy was owner and operator of Foy’s Garage, High Point for approximately 30 years, and was also owner and operator of Foy’s Mobil Home Park, Jacksonville for approximately 20 years.
Mr. Foy was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Annie Foy, Wife Ruth Carolyn Foy, son Blain Dale Foy and his granddaughter Sandra “Sandy” Louise Kivett.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday Calvary Baptist Church, Haws Run Road, Maple Hill with Reverend Henry Potter officiating.  Interment will follow at Onslow Memorial Park with military honors.
Surviving; Son Edward “Frankie” Foy and his wife Tammie of Kannapolis.  Daughter, Tina “Jewel” Kivett and her husband Rick of Thomasville. Four grandchildren; Edward “Travis” Foy of Concord, Kevin Preston Foy of Myrtle Beach, Crystal Rae Foy of Kannapolis and Rhyne Dale Kivett of Thomasville. One great grandchild lauren Alivia Foy of Concord. Three sisters, Tiny King of Jacksonville, Melva Teachey of Morehead City and Alma Hunt of Lake Forrest of CA. The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

TRINITY — Jack Duncan Brooks, 86, died on Friday, October 25, 2013. Linda Hollis
High Point — Linda Hollis, 71, died Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Hospice House of the Piedmont. She was born in Thomasville to the late Dorothy and Alfred Payne. She was a resident of Thomasville, but had also lived in Dallas, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, and Jackson, Mississippi. She worked most recently at The High Point Country Club where she was no longer able to work because of declining health. She spent 12 years at the High Point Chamber of Commerce. Linda had been a member of the High Point Kiwanis Club. She also worked with many different boards and organizations while at the High Point Chamber and enjoyed the friendships that she formed as a result.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Bates Payne, and her father Alfred Payne of Thomasville. She is survived by a sister, Joyce Denny of High Point, a brother, Gary Payne and his wife, Rebecca of Cary, daughter, Kay Hornady and her husband Lee of Thomasville, a son, Brandon Byerly and his wife Terri of Thomasville, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, and the “favorite daughter,” Connie Garceau, and her husband Henry of High Point and many other close friends and five mangy dogs.
Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist at 167 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston Salem. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Shady Grove United Methodist. Reverend Joe Westfall and Reverend Jeremy Pegram will be officiating the services. The family will meet other times at the home of Kay Hornady. In lieu of flowers the family request that you send someone that you love those flowers so that they may be able to enjoy them while they are alive.

Albert Gross
ARCHDALE — Mr. Albert George Gross Jr., 85, resident of Archdale, died October 27, 2013, at Hospice Home at High Point.
Mr. Gross was born April 21, 1928, in Randolph County, a son to the late Albert G. Gross Sr. and Linne Mozelle Aldridge Gross. He was a resident of this area all his life and was a member of Archdale Friends Meeting. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Daliah Plastics in 1990. His wife, Willa B. (Peggy) Gross survives of the residence.
Also surviving is his son, George Michael Gross of Thomasville; his brother, Raymond C. Gross of Trinity; and his granddaughter, Christa Lynn Webster of Charlotte.

GREENSBORO — Mary Boone Fore, age 85, of Greensboro, died Sunday October 27, 2013, at Beacon Place.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday October 29, 2013, at Forbis & Dick N. Elm Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Mary Fore was born May 8, 1928, in Farmville, VA to the late Peter and Meta Boone. She was a member of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Fore worked for 35 years for Jefferson Pilot Insurance and also worked at Belk Department Store at Four Seasons Mall.
She is survived by one son Kenneth L. Fore (Donna), daughters Beth Power (Joel) and Paulette Murchison (Buck), brother P.V. Boone Jr. (Helen), three grandchildren Bron Young, Derek Yost (Heather), and April Yost, two great grandchildren Jacob Yost and Mckenzie Yost also numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Randy Fore, grandson Dack Reeves, three brothers and three sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday October 28, at Forbis & Dick N. Elm Chapel.
