David T. Blackney
HIGH POINT — David Blackney, 61, of Claymont, Del. longtime resident of High Point, NC passed peacefully on Oct. 11, 2013, in Wilmington, Del.
David was a graduate of Claymont HS and the University of Delaware. David taught and coached for 30 years for the most part at Ferndale Middle and later at Ledford Middle. David had a passion for teaching young people and sincerely loved his job as well as substituting after retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marita and Neale Blackney and brother Rick. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Blackney and his brothers and sisters, Patti, Michael, Brian, Kevin, Terry, Colleen and Jeff. He is also survived by many in-laws and nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Del. on Thurs Oct. 17 at 11 am.

Irving E. Exconde
HIGH POINT — Irving E. Exconde, husband of Thelma S. Exconde of High Point, NC entered into eternal rest on the morning of October 13, 2013.  Irving was born April 8, 1945 in San Pablo City, Philippines, a son of the late Lorenzo and Delfina Exconde. He and his family migrated to the United States in 1987.
Irving is survived by his wife Thelma, two daughters, Irma and husband Charles Dawson, Monica and husband Michael Cannon, a son Marvin and wife Summer Exconde, two brothers, Edgardo and wife Nini, Wilfredo and wife Emelie Exconde of Toronto, Canada, and three grandchildren, Austin, Kaila and Sophia. He was preceded in death by a son Michael Jonas and a brother Ronaldo.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing  at Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point, NC on Thursday, October 17, 2013 between 6-8pm. The funeral mass will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point, NC on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 10:30 am.

Ernestine Hall
LEXINGTON — Ernestine Hall, 92, a long time resident of Lexington passed away October 15, 2013, at Hospice Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. The family will receive visitors at Davidson Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, followed by a 2 pm graveside service at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Betty Lou Hilton
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Betty Lou Beck Hilton, 80, a resident of Rich Hilton Road, died Monday, October 14, 2013 at her home.  She was born on December 28, 1932 in Davidson County, NC.  She was a homemaker and a member of Midway School Road Baptist Church.  She was a lady of extraordinary faith and she was happiest when helping others.  She loved her family, her church, and her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dale Hilton on December 22, 2001, whom she married on December 28, 1951; and her siblings.
Surviving are two sons, James Fletcher (Jimmy) Hilton and wife Debbie and Barry Scott Hilton and wife Terri, all of Thomasville; grandson, Joshua Scott Hilton and wife Luci of Thomasville; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville.
Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Midway School Road Baptist Church, 6735 Midway School Rd. Treva Adams Hilton
THOMASVILLE — Treva Adams Hilton, 92, of Thomasville died Tuesday at the Hospice Home at High Point.  Born November 16, 1920 in Surry County she is a daughter of the late John William Adams and Laura Jessup Adams.  She was married to Chase Lee Hilton who preceded her in death on December 28, 1978 after 32 years of marriage.
Mrs. Hilton is survived by five children, Patsy “Pat” Willard of Thomasville, Gary Hilton and wife Susan of Winston-Salem, Rick Hilton and wife Penny of Archdale, Pamela Davis and husband Bob of Pleasant Garden and Danny Hilton and wife Shirley of Archdale, nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hilton will be held 11:00 am Friday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point with the Reverend John Sides officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

LEXINGTON — Nellie Elizabeth Smith Jarvis, 90, of Henderson Lane, died, Monday, October 14, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 2 pm Thursday October 17, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the funeral home.


Earlie Mae Jones
THOMASVILLE — Earlie Mae Boswell Jones, 79, of Thomasville, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
Earlie Mae was born May 13, 1934 to the late Bartley Boswell and Frona Cribb Boswell.  She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother.  She is predeceased by husband, Willie Jones, and son, Terry Cartrette.
Earlie Mae is survived by children, Patsy Jones and husband Harold of Thomasville, Betty Worrell and husband Charles of Whiteville, Jennie Hunt and Garry Cartrette, both of High Point; sister, Patricia Moore; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; and beloved dog, Zeus.
A celebration of Earlie Mae’s life will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.  Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, High Point.  The family will receive friends Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.

THOMASVILLE –Mr. Wilbert Franklin Morgan, 66, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Citadel of Faith Christian Fellowship, 108 Salem Street, Thomasville with a family visitation being held 30 minutes prior to the service. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and will resume Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Shatina Rivers
TRINITY — Shatina Renee Rivers, age 37, of Trinity, NC, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in High Point.  She  was born December 16, 1975, the daughter of Gwendolyn Rivers and Calvin York.  
She was a graduate of Trinity High School, class of 1994.  She went on to receive her Associate Degree in Pharmacy Technology, and was currently a student at Guilford Technical Community College pursuing her LPN License.  Shatina was a faithful and committed employee with Westwood Nursing Facility as a CNA for 19 years.  She also was a devoted person to her family and always delighted in their  gatherings. 
Loved ones who preceded her in death are her maternal grandparents, Mr. Hardie and Mrs. Catherine Rivers, also a close cousin, Alicia McCluney.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Gwendolyn Rivers of the home, Calvin (Juanita) York of High Point; sister, Chrislyn Bright of High Point; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Betty Robinson of High Point;  four aunts, Catherine Haney, Josephine Crawford and Yvonne (Ricky) McCluney all of High Point and Evg. Lenora (Bishop Greg) Bennett of Wadesboro, NC; four uncles, Joseph (Wanda) Rivers of Winston Salem, Gaines (Pamela) Rivers of High Point, Tony Rivers of the home, Ronald (Michelle ) Rivers and Gregory York all of High Point; a very special friend,  Darrell Tillman; numerous cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 1pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Living Water Baptist Church with Bishop Callands, eulogist.  Family visitation will begin at 12:30pm-1pm at the church.  The family will also receive friends at 5196 Darr Rd. Jonathan Edward Spencer
JAMESTOWN — Jonathan Edward Spencer passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, following a brief illness.
He was born in High Point, North Carolina to the late James and Betty Samuels Spencer on December 8, 1982.  And he graduated from the Guilford County public school system.
Jonathan worked for Firestone Complete Auto Care of High Point and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Jamestown, North Carolina.
Those family members who survive include his wife, Tiffany Spencer; two daughters, Haydn Spencer and Halle Ireland; a sister, Kathy Martin; two brothers, Derrick (Tabitha) Spencer and Steve Spencer; mother-in-law, Diane Rominger; and his brother-in-law, Luke Rominger.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, October 18, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Jamestown with Rev. Patrick DeVane, officiating.

Roy Whitesell
JAMESTOWN — Mr. Roy Banks Whitesell, 74, a resident of Jamestown, passed away October 13, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A resident of this area all of his life, Mr. Whitesell was born on August 18, 1939 in High Point to the late Robert Banks Whitesell and Ruth Elizabeth Stone Whitesell.  He was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church and the loving husband of Joyce Hunsucker Whitesell.  Mr. Whitesell worked as a truck driver, having worked for FlyBack, Hennis Motor Lines, Spector- Redball, Carolina Freight, and later retiring from ABF Trucking. He was also the sole owner of RBW Developments, LLC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitesell is preceded in death by one brother, Edward Harvey Whitesell.
Surviving is his wife, Joyce H. Whitesell of the home; step-children, Judy Dumars of Inman, SC, Michael Thompson of Thomasville, Mickey Thompson of Jamestown, Chris Thompson of Kernersville, Keith Thompson of Spartanburg, SC, and Kimberly Carter and her husband Russ of Spartanburg, SC; seven grandchildren, Amy Nicole Speaks, Ryan J. Dumars, Natalie J. Kelley, Timothy K. Thompson, Lane C. Morgan, Melissa F. Thompson, and Margeaux Dumars; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, October 16th at Jamestown Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Jay D. Smith and Newton Cowan of Jamestown Presbyterian Church officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
