Joe Parker Badger
TRINITY — Mr. Joe Parker Badger, 58, a current resident of Trinity and formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., went to sleep with Jesus on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Thomasville Medical Center.  He was born on Oct. 31, 1954, in Davidson County to John Charles Badger Sr. and Georgie Mae Swing.  He was a former employee of Hunter Farm.  He was baptized on Feb. 7, 2009, at the Thomasville Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he was a member.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Charles Badger Jr.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his mother, Georgie Mae Swing Lewis of Trinity; brother, Eddie Acosta and wife Vicki of Thomasville; sisters, Pamela Osman and husband Phil of Alabama and Janice Permar of Trinity; nephew, Scott Acosta; nieces, Heather Powell, Mitzi Self, Courtney Badger, Jessica Acosta; aunts, Sue Henry, Shirley Robinson, and countless more longtime friends.  Joe will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Thomasville Seventh Day Adventist Church with pastor Steve Bietz officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church or at other times at the home of his mother, Georgie Lewis.

Valerie Bridges
HIGH POINT — Ms. Valerie Bridges, 44, of 2117 Wingate Place died on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital after a long courageous fight with cancer.
Valerie was born on Sept. 3, 1968, to Betty Bridges Dixon and Frank Delane Dixon in High Point.  She was also the daughter of Tommie Lee Watkins. A lifelong resident of High Point, she was a 1986 graduate of High Point Central High School and attended GTCC.  She was employed with Marsh Furniture Company for over 10 years and also worked at A Child’s World for 10 years.  Valerie was a member of Temple Memorial Baptist Church where she served as an advisor for the Youth Dept. and was a member of the Young Adult Missionary Group.  She loved people and especially loved children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean Bridges Dixon, and sister, Myra Bridges Wilkes.
Left to cherishes loving memories is son, Bruce Lee Mobley; daughter, Shanna Channel Mobley; fiancé, Wayne Jackson; fathers, Frank D. Dixon and Tommie L. Watkins; 10 brothers, Frank (Lisa) Dixon, James F. Dixon, Marvin (Wanda) Bridges, Richard Dixon, Tellys Bridges (fiancé Meikala), Kevin Watkins, Tarell Watkins, Elijah Watkins, Tommie Lee Watkins Jr., and Jermone Watkins; seven sisters, Lorie Moore, Cathy Hubbard, Debbie Williams, Tabatha (Samuel) Rogers, Elaine (Mark) Horton, Adajah Watkins, and Angela Watkins; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral will held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Temple Memorial Baptist Church, 1458 Cedrow Drive.  Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown, N.C.  Family visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, 11:30 to 12:30 p.m.  Johnson and Sons is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be made at

James “Jim”  Dixon
AUSTIN, Texas — James “Jim” McAnally Dixon, a native of North Carolina, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 1, 2013, in Austin, Texas.  He was born in Reidsville on Sept. 22, 1959, and was the son of Myrbie and Tom Dixon Sr., former High Point residents. Jim graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta, Ga., and earned a bachelor’s degree in health systems from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1981 and received his master’s degree in business administration from Louisiana State University in 1991.
He was a respected health care industry professional serving many years with the Louisiana Hospital Association, Amerinet and the Texas Hospital Association. He was a member of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Consortium of Hospital Association Service Enterprises (CHASE), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Amerinet Strategic Marketing Affiliates and Association Healthcare Enterprises, among others.
An avid golfer, fisherman, sports enthusiast and excellent cook, Jim loved life and lived it to the fullest.  Jim was a big man with a big heart and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 26 years, Melanie Magee Dixon; their daughters, Victoria Reagan Dixon and Grace Randall Dixon;  his brother Tom Dixon Jr. and his wife, Catherine,; nephews, Thomas and Trevor; and nieces, Anna Lynn and Laura.
A memorial service was held in Austin on April 4.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria & Grace Dixon Education Fund at any Wells Fargo office.
