Jane (Cheek) Adams
LIBERTY — Jane (Cheek) Adams, 95, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, at North Point Assisted Living, where she was a resident for over two years. She was the wife of the late E. Leon Adams.
Mrs. Adams was born on July 11, 1917, in Durham, N.C., a daughter of the late John Newton and Lena (Crabtree) Cheek. She was a former employee of Culp, Inc., formerly Golding Brothers Fabrics, for over 30 years until her retirement.
She was a former member of Green Street Baptist Church for over 50 years where she was an adult Sunday school teacher, and currently a member of First Baptist Church, Liberty. She was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Unit, Sunshine Fellowship and the Saints Alive Choir, where she would travel to local nursing homes sharing her love for music. She also enjoyed reading in her spare time.
Mrs. Adams is survived by three sons, Dr. Gerald L. Adams and his wife, Tamaria of Charlotte, John M. “Mickey” Adams and his wife, Mary of Ramseur, and Dr. Robert E. “Bob” Adams and his wife, Sally of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
A celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale, with Rev. Brian Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

HIGH POINT — David Lee Carter, 62, a resident of High Point, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, at Hospice Home at High Point.
David was born Feb. 3,1951, in Jamestown, N.C. He was the son of the late Melvin Carter and Helen Young Carter. He graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1969. He was employed many years at Estes Trucking before he retired.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Carter; son Christopher Carter; and sister Sindy Carter. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Briceno and husband Adon; son Adam Carter and wife Kristin, son Erik Lewis and wife Kerrie; daughter-in-law Carla Lewis; a brother Steve Carter and wife Terry; a sister Susan Hodge and husband Steve; three grandchildren; and special friends Bobby Myrick and Pennie and Don Edens and Christie
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday April 8, 2013, at Trinity Heights Wesleyan Church at 5814 Surrett Drive. A memorial service will follow at the church beginning at 7 p.m.

Monica “Mom” Lynn Madrid Cepeck
Monica “Mom” Lynn Madrid Cepeck, ended her courageous and inspiring battle with ovarian cancer on Wednesday morning surrounded by her loving family. All who knew Monica knew she was a loving wife, mom, daughter, and sister, who inspired others and always put others first, especially her family before her own needs and desires. She is survived by her husband of thirty years, David Allen Cepeck, Sr, daughter Andrea Lynn Cepeck, son David Allen Cepeck, Jr, her faithful companion, Toby, mom Nancy Tovar, sister Linda Barry, and brother, Robert Tovar
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Norris, O.S.F.S. celebrant. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

Betty Gwynne Clontz
HIGH POINT — Ms. Betty Gwynne Clontz, 60, passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday, March 28, 2013.
Betty was born in High Point, Sept. 11, 1952, a daughter of the late James and Martha Clontz. She graduated from High Point Central High School in 1970 and received a B.A. in English from UNC-Greensboro in 1974. Following graduation, she worked in her father’s law office for several years and then at Gilbarco. Most recently, Betty was employed as a legal assistant with the law firm Bell, Davis, & Pitt in Winston-Salem.
Betty is survived by two sisters, Sue Davis of Greensboro and Tamara Beckman (Carl) of New Bedford, Mass.; a brother Jim Clontz of Raleigh, N.C.; nephews Charles (Caitlin) and Carl (Tracy) Beckman of Massachusetts and Matthew Davis of Greensboro, N.C.; two great -nieces and one great- nephew.
Betty will be remembered as a devoted daughter, a wonderful sister, a caring aunt, and a loyal friend. She enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends, and taking vacations at the beach. Betty will be missed so very much by all her knew her.
On Saturday, April 13, 2013, a private family service will be held followed by a visitation for family and friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Davis Funerals and Cremations, 976 Phillips Ave., High Point, N.C.

Edward Lee Hunt
HIGH POINT — Mr. Edward Lee Hunt, age 71, a resident of High Point since 1973, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Hunt was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Roberson County, a son to the late James Edward and Iula Oxendine Hunt. For over 20 years he had worked for Plum-Mech in High Point and retired, due to his health, in 2001 from Kimsey Services. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents; he was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Ray Hunt and a granddaughter, Bridgett.
Edward is survived by Patricia Leigh Hinesley of the home; five daughters, Linda Hunt Lowery and Brenda Hunt Ranson and her husband Tommy all of Lumberton, Christina Hinesley and Angela Hinesley both of High Point and Gina Fay Hinesley of Randleman; five sons, Edwin Hunt and his wife Anita, Ricky Hunt and his wife Barbara, Larry Hunt, Donald Ray Hunt, all of Lumberton, and James Hinesley of High Point; one sister, Bernice Oxendine Bell Of Lumberton; two brothers, Lathan Hunt and his wife Carolyn of Lumberton and Howard Clinton (Clemon) Hunt and his wife Brenda of High Point. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Landmark Baptist Church with the Rev. Amos Mashburn officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Patricia L. Jason Vance Koontz
THOMASVILLE — Jason Vance Koontz was born May 27, 1971, in Alamance County and became the loving and beloved son of Charlesanna and Sonny Koontz in 1972.
He is a graduate of East Davidson High School, where he was a MVP baseball pitcher. Jason attended Catawba College and High Point University and earned an associate business degree. He spent most of his professional career in sales in the home furnishing industry.
As an avid golfer and talented musician and both a friend and helper to anyone who needed a friend, his sweet, loving, and benevolent persona attracted a very large body of friends in many circles.
Jason is survived by his son, Zachary Koontz, a senior at Wake Forest University; by his parents Charlesanna and Sonny; his brother Rusty and wife Jill of Thomasville; and nephew Nycholas and nieces Reagan and Baylyn Koontz. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Mary Parrish of Trinity.
A Memorial and thanksgiving celebration of his life and spirit will be held Monday, April 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville with Dr. Ivan Peden and Rev. Peggy Finch officiating. A fellowship and gathering of friends will follow on the family farm in Holly Grove.

Nell Choate Machen
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Nell Choate Machen, age 97 passed away April 5, 2013, at River Landing at Sandy Ridge.
Mrs. Machen was born Oct. 5, 1915, in Rockwell, N.C., to Dr. Glenn W. and Donna Dell Osborne Choate. She graduated from Meredith College and taught at Allen Jay Elementary, as well as serving on the staff of Salem College until she retired in 1983. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, the Adult Fellowship Class, served in the Chancel Choir, and was a commissioned Stephen Minister. Mrs. Machen was a sustaining member of the Junior League of High Point, a garden club member and a devoted donor and supporter of the American Red Cross Blood Drive. In her spare time, she was an avid golfer, tennis and bridge player and enjoyed her time spent traveling, picnicking on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and enjoying God’s creation especially butterflies. On July 8, 1939, she married George H. Machen Sr. who preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children; Donna A. Machen and her husband Marc A. Lehmann of Waynesville, N.C., and George H. Machen Jr. of High Point.
A Memorial service will be held Monday, April 8 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Richard Howle officiating. The family will receive friends in the Asbury Room of the church following the service. Inurnment in the church columbarium will be private. Memorials may be directed to the Music Ministry at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

Walter Cletus Wilson
HIGH POINT — Walter Cletus Wilson, 55, passed away on April 5, 2013, at High Point Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1957, in Davidson County to Walter “Doc” Wilson Jr. and Olive Celia Lopp Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Cletus was the owner of S and W vacuum sales in Kernersville. His son, Walter Brent Wilson, currently lives in Orlando, Fla., and he is pursuing a doctoral degree in chemistry. Cletus was also a member of the Triad A.P.A. pool league for over 10 years.
He is survived by his mother, Olive Celia Wilson of Thomasville; son Walter Brent Wilson of Orlando, Fla.; sister Diane Clemons of Trinity
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday April 7, 2013, at Thomasville Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday April 8, 2013, at the Thomasville Funeral Home chapel, followed by interment in Holly Hill Memorial Park.
