Jack Calvert
LEXINGTON — Jack Andrew Calvert, 80, of Lantern Lane, died April 2, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist.

Bud Carlton
THOMASVILLE — James “Bud” Edward Carlton Jr. 50, of West Colonial Drive, died April 2, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel.

Ava Chappell
THOMASVILLE — Ava “Jay” Borland Chappell, 83, of Sara Beth Drive, died April 4, 2013, at Lexington Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville.

Ruth Craver
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Ruth Moore Craver, 89 of Ball Road passed away early Thursday, April 4, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Born in Davidson County on Dec. 17, 1923, the daughter of Charlie Eli and Daisy Weavil Moore, she had made her home in this area for her entire life. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a retired accountant for several manufacturing firms in the area. She enjoyed her hobby of crocheting and made many beautiful quilts and blankets over the years.  She loved to garden but she was happiest when in the company of her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Elva M. Ward, Stella M. Sink, and Doris M. Haynes and brothers, Otis Moore and Elwood Moore and two half sisters and three half brothers. On April 7, 1943, she married Wade Eugene Craver who also preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2012.
Surviving is her daughter, Sandra Ripple-Kinley and husband John of Thomasville, grandsons, Jason Ripple and Ben Ripple and wife Alison, and great grandson, Ryan Ripple.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Ardis Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home at 10301 N. NC Highway 109 in Wallburg. The family suggests that memorials be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church 6516 Old Greensboro Rd. Thomasville, NC 27360 in Mrs. Craver’s memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the Craver family at www.jcgreenandsons.com

Doris Vivian Henderson
HIGH POINT — Doris Vivian Henderson, beloved sister and aunt, passed away suddenly, on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at her apartment at The Stratford, 1573 Skeet Club Road, High Point, NC. Doris, otherwise known as Aunt Darcy, by many of her nieces, was 83 years old.
Doris lived most of her life in New York City, and moved to High Point several years ago to enjoy and be close to family.  She was an artist, a traveler, and a photographer.   She loved her family, animals, nature, and life itself.  She loved to sing and dance and enjoyed knitting and crocheting, as well as many other hobbies.     
Doris is survived by her older sister, Blanche E. Betts, of Frederica, DE; her brother-in-law, Anthony Vasko, of Fort Collins, CO; her nieces and nephews, Gordon Betts and his wife, Kathy Betts of Milford, DE,  Dee V. Smith and her husband, Daryl Smith of Jamestown, NC, Karen Vasko and her husband, Jim Bowes of Fort Collins, CO, and Stephen Vasko and his wife, Kirsten of Rye, NY; her great-nieces and great nephews, Jeanne Betts, Jessica Betts, Timothy Betts, Keri Scott, Kristy Dudley and her husband, Chris; and her great-great-nieces, Abigail and Avery Dudley, Aislyn Scott, Anya Bowes Vasko, and Mila and Natasha Vasko.
She will be dearly missed by her family and her friends, and memories of her life will forever be cherished.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1225 Chestnut Drive, High Point with the Rev.  Dr. Alexander J. Ward officiating.

Helen Hollifield
LEXINGTON — Helen Hollifield 67, of Lexington passed away on April 1, 2013.
Born on Oct. 25, 1945 in Davidson County to Chelsey D. Hollifield and Ida Mills Hollifield. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Katie Edwards, Doris Rogers, Hazel Ely Cecil, Lonnie Leonard, Don Clarence, and Dean.
Helen is survived by one brother, David.  She is also survived by five children, Melinda Hill, Teddy, Jerry, Robert and Mitchell Hancock; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.  She is also survived by special family members, Wanda Hancock and Cheri Hancock.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1 pm at Hughes Grove Baptist Church.

Wanda Martin Lewis
ARCHDALE — Wanda Martin Lewis, 54, of Archdale, NC went to be with her Savior Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013.
She was born March 29th, 1959 in Hope Mills, NC to the late Bernis L. Martin Sr. and the late Janet T. Brown. Having spent most of her life in High Point, she was a graduate of High Point Central High School. Wanda was a member of Westchester Baptist Church and loved singing in the church choir. She later became a resident of the Archdale area. After graduating from Randolph Community College, Wanda became an Invoice Accountant with Walmart of Randleman.
Wanda was known for her fun spirit and generous heart. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Her family was her joy and she loved them dearly. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by one sister Dianna J. Seigler, also of Archdale.
She leaves behind her husband Roger Keith Lewis who survives of the home, sons Nicholas Keith Lewis of the home, Christopher Sterling Lewis and his wife Brandi Leigh Lewis of Thomasville. Wanda will always be remembered as “Neena” to her three grandsons Trey, Jackson and Daylon.  Also surviving are her stepfather Ronald G. Brown of Trinity, brothers Bernis L. Martin Jr. of Belmont, NC, Michael D. Martin of Browns Summit, NC, and sisters Beverly A. Ward of Thomasville and C. Dawn McGovern of Lexington, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale officiated by  the Rev. Tim Gore, followed by Ted Gardner, representative for the family.  The family will receive friends Friday, April 5, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. at funeral home.

Mary Rebecca Anderson Maute
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Mrs. Mary Rebecca Anderson Maute, 86, of Pompano Beach, FL, formerly of High Point, NC, died Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Mary was born May 5, 1926 to the late Ralph Walker Anderson and Rosa Compton Anderson.  She was of the Baptist faith.  In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Maute, son, Richard Maute, daughter, Linda Button, brother, Quintin Anderson, and sister Virginia Anderson Morgan.  She is survived by brothers, Ray Anderson of High Point, Ralph Anderson of Long Island, NY, Clyde Anderson of Rock Hill, SC; a sister, Faye Dale of High Point; grandchildren, Robert Button and Joann Joyner and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6th, 2013 at Guilford Memorial Park, with Rev. Roger Carmichael officiating.  Memorials may be made to The Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 560666, Charlotte, NC  28256.

Victor Douglas
CLEMMONS — Victor Douglas Mills, 62, of Clemmons, NC, formerly of Princeton, WV, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday,  April 3, 2013, at his residence with his loving wife Teresa by his side.  Born in WV he was the son of the late Jack and Verleen Mills.
Mr. Mills, “Doug”, was a long time member of Rich Creek Baptist Church in Spanishburg, WV.  Since moving to NC, he has attended West Fairfield Baptist Church of High Point.  Doug worked for twenty years in the mining industry before becoming a well-respected builder and land developer for the remainder of his career.  Doug attended Matoaka High School in WV.  He and his brother Arlon, “The Mills Brothers” were also publically known as two of the best basketball players in WV at that time.  Doug loved the Lord and was an inspiration to many in his declining health.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Teresa Mills; brother, Arlon Mills and wife Beverly of Spanishburg, WV; daughter, Leah Petrunger and husband, Todd of Princeton, WV; son, Jeff Mills of Princeton, WV; son, Bill Meadows and wife Lucy of High Point, NC; daughter Dawn Meadows of Greensboro, NC; daughter-in-law Lisa Meadows of Thomasville, NC; four grandsons, Logan, Mason, Mitchell, and Matthew.
The family has honored his wishes to be cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at West Fairfield Baptist Church in High Point, NC with Rev Rodney Hedrick and Mark  Mosley officiating.  There will be a second celebration service Monday April 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton, WV with Brother Ronald Wood officiating.  Family will receive visitors one hour prior to each service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donation to please be made to The American Cancer Society for prostate cancer research.

LEXINGTON — Diana Kay Daniels Watts, 60, of Lexington, died April 3, 2013.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville.
