Chester Edward Westmoreland
THOMASVILLE — Chester Edward Westmoreland, 85, a resident of Kanoy Road, died Wednesday morning, August 28, 2013, at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. He was born August 22, 1928, in Stokes County, NC, a son of Edward Westmoreland and Cleo Tuttle Westmoreland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Westmoreland was a retired employee with Harris-Covington Hosiery Company of High Point and was a self-employed farmer.
He was a charter member of Victory Baptist Church, the Men’s Sunday School Class and had formerly served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon and Sunday school superintendent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Westmoreland.
On June 4, 1949, he was married to Kathleen Slaydon, who survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara Jones and husband Steve of Thomasville; sons, Douglas Westmoreland and Nelson Westmoreland and wife Brenda, both of Thomasville; grandchildren, Anthony Westmoreland and wife Dawn, Jason Westmoreland and wife Jennifer, Chase Westmoreland and fiancée Nikki, Nichole Westmoreland and fiancé Nick, Nathan Jones and wife Monica, Wesley Jones and wife Julie, Heath Jones and wife Gayla and Cecelia Westmoreland; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, September 1, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. in Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Vickrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Westmoreland will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes before the service. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, N.C. 27292.

Peggy Martindale Witcher
TRINITY — Peggy Martindale Witcher, 80, of Trinity, died Tuesday, August 28, 2013, at Hospice Home of High Point.
Peggy was born January 11, 1933, to the late Walter and Hallie Martindale. She was a member of Fairfield United Methodist Church where she taught toddler Sunday school and Bible school. Peggy worked in the textile industry for most of her life. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Douglas, who was her sweetheart since sixth grade and who survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by son, Michael Witcher and wife Cindi of Archdale; daughter, Lisa Witcher Bishop and husband John of Kernersville; and grandchildren, Matthew Witcher and Hudson Bishop.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Friday, August 30 at 11 a.m. at Fairfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Jill Auman officiating. Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the church fellowship hall and also on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Michael and Cindi Witcher, 1004 Courtland Lane, Archdale.
