Dorcas Hinkle Albright
LEXINGTON — Dorcas Virginia Hinkle Albright, 97, of Brookdale Senior Living, formerly of Hilltop Drive, Lexington, passed away Wednesday morning. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. Arrangements by Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.
HIGH POINT — Ms. Josephine “Joe” Anderson was called home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital at Forsyth Medical Center following several months of failing health. She was born June 13, 1942, in High Point, NC, daughter of John “Buck” and Lillie Mae Anderson, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by grandmother, Charlotte Galloway; one sister, Mary Sue Anderson Little; two grandchildren, Lequonia Bivens and Jamar Hamlin.
Josephine attended William Penn High School. She was last employed by James A. Johnson Nursing Center.
She leaves behind to share her memories, two daughters, Ocieretta and Sharon; three sons, Eddie, Troy and Ja of High Point, NC; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, one aunt, Lucille Anderson of High Point, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Joshua Lyle “Josh” Christiansen
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Joshua Lyle “Josh” Christiansen, 21, a resident of Liberty Church Road, was called to Heaven untimely on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. He was born on March 3, 1992, in Guilford County to Jeffrey John Christiansen and Crystal Lynn Burton Christiansen. He was a 2010 graduate of East Davidson High School and was employed with Cannon’s Landscaping.
Surviving are his mother, Crystal Burton Christiansen and fiancé, Elliot Everhart of Thomasville; father, Jeffrey John Christiansen and step-mother, Sherrie Christiansen of Thomasville; sister, Kasey Christiansen and Sean Roberts of Thomasville; brother, Nicholas Christiansen and fiancée Brionna Hammonds of Silver Valley; maternal grandparents, Clifton and Gail Burton of Thomasville; paternal grandparents, John and Carol Christiansen of Thomasville; great-grandmother, Vida Swaney of Thomasville; step-brothers, Ryan Pilkenton and Caleb King, and Caleb and Eli Everhart, all of Thomasville; nephew, Landon Christiansen, niece, Kayden Roberts; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Amazing Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Hillis Burton and Rev. Tim Burton officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Josh will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and at other times at the following respective homes, 1017 Liberty Church Rd. TRINITY — Mrs. Shirley Hicks, 68, passed away unexpectedly August 18, 2013, at her residence.
Shirley was born in February 17, 1945, in High Point, a daughter of Reese and Edith Wood Diggs. She was of the Baptist faith and a retired upholstery sewer. She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Hicks, Jr.
Surviving are two sisters, Clara Young and husband Harold of Archdale and Hilda Parrish and husband Donald of Sophia; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held Saturday at 12 noon in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Mel Anderson. Memorials may be directed to S.P.C.A. Davis Funerals and Cremations is serving the family.
Catherine Hughes Hucks
GREENSBORO — Mrs. Catherine Hughes Hucks, 60, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Cemetery in Thomasville.
Catherine was born in Davidson County on August 26, 1952, to the late John Robert and Beatrice Jones Hughes. She was employed with Guilford County Schools as school treasurer for Northeast Guilford High School and had also been employed at NAPA auto parts for 33 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, George Hucks; sons, John Wesley Sumner, George Edward Hucks, Jr.; daughters, Meredith Gail Conyers, Amber Renee Coulter, Karen Michele Eller, Kristen Leigh Hague; grandchildren, Reginald Avery Conyers, Brittany Nicole Sumner, Aaron Quinn Conyers, Adrian Isaiah Conyers, Eric Philip Coulter, Jr., Ellis Zane Coulter, Amber Elise Coulter, Aria Suzana Coulter, Anya Rebekeh Coulter, Emily Jordan Hucks, Elijah George Hucks, Ryland Jackson Hucks, Carys Grace Eller, Michael (Micah) Lee Hague III, and Kinley Carter Hague; sister, Dianne Fore; uncle, Jake Proctor; and aunt, Verda Hughes.

Carolyn Ann McCormick Huggins
HIGH POINT — Carolyn Ann McCormick Huggins, 73, of High Point, went to be with her Heavenly Father Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Hospice House of the Piedmont.
She was born June 3, 1940, in High Point to George and Helen Myers McCormick.
She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and dear friend to many.
Carolyn brought joy and laughter to all she met. Her presence will be truly missed. She was a blessing to her co-workers, friends and the staff of doctors at Cornerstone Surgery since it’s inception.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Herbert, her little dog “Happy”, her sister Cynthia McCormick Sawyer and husband Fred of Charleston, SC, her niece Mary Susan Barteet and husband Ed of Charleston, SC, her nephew Scott Sawyer and his wife Clarissa of Charleston, SC, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carolyn was active in the Furniture City chapter of the AWBA. She was the past president in 2008 & 2009, and Woman of the Year of the Piedmont Triad Chapter of the AWBA in 2009. She was a member of Westchester Baptist Church where she was active in the New Horizons Sunday School Class and the Joy Club.
A memorial service provided by Cumby Family Funeral Service will be held at Westchester Baptist Church, 135 Westchester Drive, High Point, by Rev. Eric Peacock Saturday August 24 at 2:00 p.m., with family visitation at the church From 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
Following the memorial service, there will be a graveside service at Floral Gardens Memorial Park in High Point.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the building fund at Westchester Baptist Church.

RANDLEMAN — Fayette Allen Sinclair McCulloch, 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.
HIGH POINT — On August 21, Marion Howell McInnis left her earthly home at River landing at Sandy Ridge to join her loving husband of 64 years, Wade, and her beloved grandson, Cory McInnis in the Kingdom of Heaven. Marion was born November 24, 1925, in Hamlet, NC, to Jesse Hilton Howell and Mary Nettles Howell. She was a sister to Edna, Jesse, Mary, and Martha. On August 16, 1948, she married the love of her life, Wade Hampton McInnis, who along with her parents, siblings, and their spouses, preceded her in death.
Marion and Wade moved to High Point in 1949 when they founded Hunter and Co. Marion and Wade came to love their new hometown and were strong supporters of High Point University, the High Point Regional Endowment Fund, the High Point Community Foundation and Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Marion was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker and community volunteer. Many a friend of her five children enjoyed sharing her home-cooked meals. Her tiny biscuits were amazing! She was an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Besides her work at church and with the PTA, she delivered Meals on Wheels, tutored for the High Point City Schools and earned the Dogwood Award for her work with the High Point Regional Hospital Guild.
Marion is survived by her daughter Helen Rice and husband Rocky of High Point and four sons: Wade “Mac” McInnis and wife Vickie of Moravian Falls; Bud McInnis and wife Jane of High Point; Steve McInnis and wife Susan of Columbia, SC; and Stan McInnis of Seattle, Washington. Besides her children, she survived by eight grandchildren: Ryan Rice of Johns Creek, GA; Rachael Rice Cusick and husband Glenn of Chesapeake, VA; Erin McInnis of Nashville, TN; Leila McInnis of Winston-Salem, NC; Ian McInnis and wife Liz of Pittsboro, NC; Ashley Garren and husband Rodney of Hickory, NC; Katie McInnis of Washington, DC; and Tyler McInnis of Boulder, Co. She was blessed to have three great-grandsons Charlie Hooker of Hickory, NC; William and Thomas Cusick of Chesapeake, Va. Marion was preceded in death by a grandson, Cory McInnis. She is also survived by her Pebble Beach 2 Family at River landing at Sandy Ridge. A special thank you to Michelle, Kathy, Carla, our sister Crystal, Super Steve, Man Lu, Nannette, Candice, Laura, Victoria, Bea, Heather, Dorothea, Celia, Regina, Tabitha, Michelin, Angela, Mary, Christine, and all their co-workers.

A memorial service to celebrate Marion’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the sanctuary of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Alexander J. Ward officiating. The family will receive friends in the Asbury Room, following the service. Burial will be in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.

James D. Shelton
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL — James D. Shelton of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away on August 13, 2013, at the age of 73. Born on June 29, 1940, in High Point, NC, Mr. Shelton was the son of the late Annie Pearl Crutchfield Shelton and Carl Ramsey Shelton. He received a BA Degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the Law School of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mr. Shelton practiced law in Columbus, Ohio, for 11 years before moving to Florida to become a Trust Banker. While Mr. Shelton’s law career was not a very lengthy one, it was a very successful one, and there was a lot of pride in the number of wins in the Court of Appeals, plus one in the Supreme Court of Ohio. One of Mr. Shelton’s highlights was having one of his legal cases made into a movie, “Little Girl Lost” and being portrayed by actor Chris McDonald.
Mr. Shelton was a very active Toastmaster for more than 30 years. At one point Mr. Shelton belonged to six different Toastmasters Clubs in three states. Mr. Shelton loved speaking and roasts so much that two years ago he gave himself a eulogy roast so he could hear what his friends had to say about him.
Jim is survived by his devoted and loving wife Sandra Shelton in FL; Son Bryan Shelton, wife Jen, grandchildren Cassidy and Carter of Columbus, OH; daughter-in-law Janna Shelton, grandchildren Anna Elizabeth Shelton, Wesley Robert Shelton and Luke Edward Shelton of Graham, NC, Crystol Erin Shelton of Copley, OH; stepdaughter Jennifer Schwartz in FL and stepson Phillip Schwartz, wife Chelsea in FL. Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by sons Robert Edward Shelton and Eric Douglas Shelton. Mr. Shelton is survived by his sister, Harriett S. Walker (Mickey) children, Mary Anne Nester (Carl), Rachel Rogers (Patrick), Elizabeth Wentz (Jerry) and Virginia Tweed (Timothy). He is also survived by his very special and loving uncles, Tom and Alfred Crutchfield and angel of an Aunt, Peggy White, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was also blessed with the enjoyment of lifelong friendships with High Point natives and fellow Wolfpackers and special golfing buddies, Michael D. Tomlin, Gary F. Workman, and Peter Daniel Poteat. Jim also enjoyed a long-term friendship with mentor, lawyer, and Toastmaster friend, Tom Avrutis in FL. Jim served on the Board of Directors for the American Heart, American Lung, American Cancer Society and Red Cross.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 24 at 11:00 a.m., Wesley Memorial Church, 1225 Chestnut Drive, High Point, NC.
