Robert Chrapowitzky
HIGH POINT- Robert Chrapowitzky, 80, died Aug. 20, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2205 W. Market Street, Greensboro. Arrangements made by Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

DENTON — Amy Annette Leonard, 53, of Jarrell Road, Lexington, died Aug. 19, 2013, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jackson Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Rudolph McCurdy Sr.
THOMASVILLE —  Rudolph McCurdy, 90, of 317 Martin Luther King Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, in High Point Regional Health Center.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, in First Missionary Baptist Church and burial will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the funeral service and other times at the home of his daughter Barbara & Glenn Love, 103 Langford Drive, Thomasville. 
Public viewing and visitation will be Sunday at S.E. Thomas Funeral & Cremation Service from noon until 6 p.m.

Jimmy Spurgeon
HIGH POINT — Jimmy Sanford Spurgeon, 69 of Mock Rd. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Jimmy was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Guilford County a son of the late Chester M. Spurgeon and Lucille Thomas Spurgeon. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve Medical Unit in Vietnam, retired after 37 years of employment from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company (Archer Division) and was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Jimmy married the love of his life Patty Peace, Feb. 8, 1965.
He was preceded in death by a son, Darren Todd Spurgeon and a brother, Bobby Spurgeon.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Patty P. Spurgeon of the home; sister-in-law, Nancy Spurgeon of High Point and niece and nephews, Mary Beth, Josh and Zack; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and Jimmy Blakeley of Greensboro and nephew, Jeff Peace and wife Irum and their son, Ozzy; one great nephew, J.C. McCracken.
Funeral services for Jimmy will be held 2 p.m.  Friday August 23, 2013 at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Hollar, Rev. Roy Cantrell and Rev. Jack Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Military Burial Honor Guard of Wallburg. Jimmy will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home (Wallburg Chapel) 10301 N. NC Hwy. 109 Winston Salem, NC 27107 until placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. The family will be at the funeral home Thursday Aug. 23, 2013 from 6 until 8 p.m. and other times at the home.

Jo Ann West

ARCHDALE — Jo Ann Wiley West, 76, a resident of Archdale, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013.
She was born May 14, 1937 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Paris W. Wiley and Mary Etta Scott Wiley. Jo Ann graduated from High Point High School in 1955 and later attended the Women’s College, now (UNCG) in 1956.
She worked for Central Plumbing for 47 years and also with Greensboro Auto Auction for 26 years. Jo Ann was faithful member of Green Street Baptist Church, where she was a member of Lydia Watson Class. She enjoyed shopping, working in her flowers, but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandson.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her sister: Helen Wiley and 4 brothers; Fred, Charles, Walter and Bill Wiley. On January 11, 1957, she was married to Jimmy E. West, he survives of the home. Also surviving are her daughter; Karen Chester and her husband Jimmy of Thomasville, her son Jonothan Scott West and his wife Starla of Trinity, her grandchildren; Brittany Chester Dotson of High Point, Holly Chester Kearns and her husband Bryan of Thomasville, Jonothan West and Kaitlyn West of Trinity, her great grandson; Mason Dotson of High Point, Mary Waldon and her husband Monroe of High Point.
A service to celebrate Jo Ann’s life will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Green Street Baptist Church, with Pastor Frank Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
Jo Ann would like to thank four nieces: Donna Byrd, Cathy Michael, Diane Spencer, and Teresa O’Shields for their special care as well as may other nieces and nephews for their love, concern, and visits. The West family would like to say a very special thank you to the staff at the Cone Cancer Center in Greensboro, 3rd floor of Wesley Long Hospital, and staff of the Hospice of The Piedmont. They were always willing to go that extra mile for Jo Ann and her family and their care is very much appreciated.
