Marie Marshall Padula
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Marie Marshall Padula, 90, of High Point Place, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2013.
She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: niece, Karen Marie Young Barrett and husband Clifton (Cliff) T. Barrett of Greensboro, NC; nephew, James (Jim) Marshall Young of Trinity, NC; niece, Delena S. Hill and husband J.L. Hill of Galax, VA; nephew, David L. Gardner of Floyd, VA; great niece, Gale H. Caudill and husband Randall (Randy) G. Caudill; great nephew Alan L. Hill and wife Sharon E. Hill; great nephew, Ryan Marshall Young, great great nieces, Kimberly Marie Caudill and Morgan P. Hill; great great nephew, Landon E. Hill. Additional loved family members include Ginger Pryor and husband Steve, Margaret (Peggy) Miller and husband Harvey and their respective families.
Marie, known to nieces and nephews as “Aunt Ree” was born on April 24, 1923, in Sylvatus, Virginia. She was the eighth and last living of ten children born to Samuel T. and Tulie Ann Marshall. She was a graduate of Sylvatus High School and National School of Commerce in Charlotte, NC.
Following graduation, she began work at Appalachian Power Company in Pulaski, Virginia. During World War II she secured a position with the 3rd Air Force Headquarters in Tampa, Florida under a Civil Service, war-time appointment, working with Air Force personnel and under the Colonel in Command of the Air Installation Division. Toward the end of the war, she returned to Virginia and her position at Appalachian Power Company.
Marie was subsequently hired by Radiation, Inc., an electronics company in Florida contracted to work on the Space Program, as Administrative Assistant to the head of the Research Division. She concluded her profession career as Office Manager at Duckworth, Duckworth & Pardue, a real estate appraisal company.
Marie married Anthony Padula (known to friends and family as “Paddy”), a Civil Engineer and Commercial and Industrial Appraiser from Framingham, MA employed with the American Appraisal Company. The couple moved to Largo, Florida to enjoy retirement there.
“Paddy” passed away in 1989 and Marie continued to live in Florida until 1998, whern she moved to High Point to be near her sister, Ida “Marsha” Young, and her family. Marie is a member of Gate City Baptist Church and spent her last years in High Point at Providence Place and High Point Place.
Burial will be at the Maplewood Cemetery in Marlboro, Massachusetts in the family plot with her late husband “Paddy”. Her family respectfully honors her request that there be no memorial service.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice Home at High Point or Gate City Baptist Church in Greensboro.

KERNERSVILLE — Mary Ruth Wall Webb, 81, died Friday August 16, 2013. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, at the Chapel at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. J.C. Green & Sons is in charge of arrangements.

ASHEBORO — Linda Carol Starling Hicks, 60, of Asheboro, died Saturday, August 17, 2013. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel.
