James “Jim” Ayers
LEXINGTON — James “Jim” Garland Ayers Sr., 81, of N. NC Highway 150, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House, following a period of declining health. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Tyro United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home.
LEXINGTON — Allen Carter Bailey, 81, of Cow Palace Road, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at his home. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
COLFAX — Charles Bailey Flynt, 75, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. He was born July 21, 1938 in Forsyth Co. to the late George Bailey and Vivian Idol Flynt.
Charles was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. He retired from PTI Airport with over 26 years of service as a firefighter and was a volunteer firefighter for Colfax Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. Charles was very active with Sandy Ridge Community Center. He loved all animals especially dogs and horses, tractors and tractor shows.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Stafford Flynt of the home; two sons, Michael Flynt and Brad Flynt both of Colfax; granddaughter, Morgan Flynt of Danbury; sister, Barbara Hedgecock and husband, Jerry; sister-in-law, Jean Pierce and husband, Raymond; brother-in-law, Jay Stafford and wife, Wanda; and two nieces.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Chuck Peters and Rev. Bruce Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 PM Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests, that memorials be made to the High Point Regional Hospital-Cancer Center, 302 Westwood Avenue, High Point, NC 27262 or The Humane Society of the Piedmont 4527 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27409.

Cornelia Ann Hamilton
DENTON — Cornelia Ann Hamilton, 77, of Asheboro died Thursday, August 15 at Randolph Hospital. A memorial service for Miss Hamilton will be held at a later date. Briggs Funeral Home in Denton is serving the Hamilton family.
LEXINGTON — Mr. Ralph Edward Peterson, age 69 of Lumina Drive, died Friday at his home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday in the Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, and family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday.
RANDLEMAN — Ruth Lorraine (Wilson) Reaves, 84, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at her residence.

ARCHDALE — Mrs. Catherine Reddick Sheppard, 98, passed away August 15, 2013 at Hospice Home in High Point.
She was born February 5, 1915, the thirteenth of fourteen children of James and Lillie Reddick. Catherine attended elementary school at Springfield Friends School and graduated from Allen Jay High School. She lived her entire life in the High Point area.
On March 18, 1939 Catherine married Kalin I. Sheppard, and they toured Florida in a Model A Ford on their honeymoon. In addition to her primary role as a homemaker, Catherine was employed by Anvil Brand and also worked many years at Farmland nursery school where she was a positive influence on countless children. She was a lifetime member of Springfield Friends Meeting, frequently playing the piano for services.
Catherine is survived by her husband, Kalin I. Sheppard of the home, their daughter, Linda S. Baxter of Charlotte, NC, and their son, Ronald K. Sheppard and his wife JoAnne of Keller, Texas. She also leaves five grandchildren: Andy Baxter and wife Susan Gover, Susanna Baxter and husband Mark Huffman, Jonathan L. Baxter, Jennifer S. Cooper and husband Kevin, Amy S. Pierce and husband Robert. Catherine is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Kristin and Sophia Weiss, Kenna, Cullen, and Camden Pierce, and Inman Huffman and Wade Baxter.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 18th, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, from 4:00 until 6:00 pm. A service to celebrate Catherine’s life will be held, Monday, August 19th at 10:30 am at Springfield Friends Meeting with Ray Luther, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow in the Meeting House cemetery.
