Virginia Ethel Laprade Bullin
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Virginia Ethel Laprade Bullin, 90, formerly of 410 Royal Oak Dr., died Jan. 6, 2013, at Westchester Manor. Arrangements are pending at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.

Virginia Sue Peace Stevens
LEXINGTON — Virginia Sue Peace Stevens, 73, a resident of Lexington, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013.
She was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Randolph County, N.C., to the late Dennis Jacob Peace and Ruth Henderson Peace, and had been a resident of the High Point area most of her life. She worked for Sunshine Nursery for 30 years and after retirement was employed with Quality Catering as long as her health permitted. She was a member of Allendale Baptist Church. Sue enjoyed sewing, cooking, floral designing, raising tomatoes and growing flowers in her yard, and writing poems.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband of 41 years, Robert L. Stevens, who died in 1996, a son; Craig Stevens, a stepson; Proctor Stevens and a sister; Vivian Kennedy.
She is survived by her daughters; Susan Richardson and her husband Brian of Lexington, Robin Yates and her husband Bill of Eden, N.C.;  her sons; Tim Stevens and his wife Cathy of Trinity, Jamey Stevens of Eden, N.C. Also surviving are her sister, Ann Pogliano of Gardner, Ill.; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law and best friend Margaret Stevens of Jamestown; and her very special companion. her dog Mia.
A service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting with Pastor Britt Groom and Pastor Brian Donley officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church. Memorials in Sue’s memory may be made to the Humane Society of Guilford County, 4527 West Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27409. Stella Mae Joyce Flynt
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Stella Mae Joyce Flynt, 91, widow of William Hillary Flynt, died Jan. 5, 2013, in Columbia, S.C. Mrs. Flynt was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Pilot Mountain, N.C., the daughter of the late Sam Dillard and Birtie Anne Wilson Joyce. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, High Point, N.C.
Mrs. Flynt and her sister, the late Alma Joyce Slawter, moved to Blythewood, S.C, in 2006 to live with her niece, Nancy Slawter Hyatt and husband Don. Also surviving are a nephew, Terry Joyce, Pilot Mountain, N.C.; great-nephews, Alan K. Hyatt, Lexington, S.C., and Patrick Joyce, Pilot Mountain, NC; great-niece, Donna Hyatt Pollack, Matthews, N.C.; several great-great-nephews and nieces; stepdaughter Betty Flynt Winn (husband Buddy), Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and several step-grandchildren. As well as her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Moir Joyce; sister Alma; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff of NHC-Parklane and Palmetto Health Hospice for the compassionate care given to her.
A funeral service will be held at Brims Grove Baptist Church, 3509 NC 268 Highway, Pilot Mountain, N.C., at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, officiated by the Rev. Taylor Humphries of Southside Baptist Church. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. in the church and following the interment in the fellowship hall. Charlie Wayne Sellers, Sr.
THOMASVILLE — Charlie Wayne Sellers, Sr. died on Jan. 5, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Sept. 13, 1951, to James Charlie Sellers and Thelma Wallace Sellers in Marion, S.C., his parents preceded him in death as well as  his brother Leo Rabon.
Charlie owned Sellers Custom Frames; he was a furniture manufacturer his entire life, a good teacher and an inspiration to all who knew him, especially his son Buddy. Also he belonged to Full Gospel Freewill Holiness Church for 20 years. Charlie was a loving husband, devoted father and an adoring grandfather.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda Davis Sellers; son Charlie Wayne Sellers Jr. and his wife Lois of Trinity, daughter Deana Whitt and her husband Lucas of Thomasville; brother Henry Seller; sisters; Betty Elliot and her husband Bill of Madison, Ga., and Linda Sellers of Thomasville; also 6 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday Jan. 7, 2013, at Thomasville Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 8, 2013, at the Full Gospel Freewill Holiness Church with the Rev. Junior Hutchins officiating followed by interment in Holly Hill Memorial Park.

Mary Inez Walton Burge
TRINITY — Mrs. Mary Inez Walton Burge, 87, of Trinity, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Hospice of Randolph County.
Mary was born on April 14, 1925, in Guilford County, a daughter of the late Charlie Hugh Walton and Fannie Coward Walton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Aldean Burge on Dec. 1, 1969; a son, Joseph “Joe” Linsey Burge; three brothers, Jim, Astor and Charles Walton; three sisters, Aleze Upton, Winnie Stilwell and Arlese Hedrick and three foster sisters, Elizabeth Crutchfield, Helen Evangelist and Mary Myers.
Mary was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and attended the Senior Saints Sunday School Class. On Sept. 20, 1946, she married the love of her life, Joseph Aldean Burge. She was a graduate of Trinity High School. Following the death of Joseph (Aldean), she became a nurse to pursue her natural being of caring for others; Mary finished the nursing program and graduated from GTCC and retired as a nurse from High Point Regional. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts with her sisters, painting and cooking, Mary always thought of others first and helped anyone she was able to. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a wonderful, dedicated and loving, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail Mann and her husband, Pete, of Trinity, and Andrea Hyde and her husband, Don, of Trinity; a daughter-in-law, Carlene Burge of Trinity; five grandchildren, Dena Brown, Renee Hyde Allen, Jodi Burge-Pugh, Donna Moser and Dean Burge; 13 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Lee Byrd.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
