TRINITY — Mr. Randy Scott Crayton, resident of Trinity, died November 8th, 2013 at his home. Arrangements are pending at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
THOMASVILLE — Mr. James Marshall Curry, age 86, a resident of Boggs Rd. Thomasville, passed away Friday, Nov 8, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 24, 1927 in Davidson Co. NC son of Willie L. Curry and Mable Eddinger Curry. He was formerly employed with USI Furniture and served in the US Navy. Mr. Curry was a member of Rich Fork Baptist Church. He was married to Colleen Williams Curry who preceded him in death. Surviving are, one son, Gary James Curry and wife Janice of the home; four grandchildren, Doris Amber Curry, Jayme Renee Billings, James Andrew Curry and Ashley Ward Barton; five great grandchildren. Mr. Curry was a kind and gentle man, who never complained, and was very happy to spend time with family. I will miss you, Daddy. Mr. Curry will be cremated and there will not be a formal service. Beulah Marcella Duhart
THOMASVILLE — Beulah Marcella Duhart, 84, of 8 Linda Street died Friday, November 8, 2013 in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in Emmanuel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the funeral service and other times at her home and also at the home of her sister, Irma Mae Dula, 813 Bowerwood Dr. S.E. Thomas Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
Hobert Floyd, Sr.
HIGH POINT — Hobert William Floyd, Sr., of High Point passed into eternal life on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Hospice Home at High Point.
Hobert was born the seventh child, of the seventh month on the seventh day, 1924 to the late Frank and Minnie Belle Tise Floyd. Hobert married his soul mate Anna Lavearn Bivens Floyd on March 16, 1947. On March 26, 1950, Hobert was reborn as a Christian accepting Jesus Christ into his heart as his Lord and Savior. On March 16, 2007, Hobert and Lavearn celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Hobert was last employed at W. & J. Rives where he retired after many years of service in maintenance. Hobert and Lavearn were members of Mitchell’s Grove United Methodist Church. During the past six years, Hobert attended Hickory Chapel Wesleyan Church until his health declined. In addition to his parents preceding him in death were his wife; Lavearn and a daughter; Helen Floyd Jackson.
Left to cherish Hobert’s memory are his children; Nancy and Rick Hall, Hobert Floyd, Jr., John Floyd, Anna and Bobby Pearce and Hobert’s canine companion Bruce. Also left to cherish Hobert’s memory are his son-in-law; Tommy Jackson, his grandchildren; Angie Whitacre, Phillip Jackson, Amanda Hall, Olivia and Brandon Hines, Amber and Jerrell Sharpe,Rhyan Bowman, Courtney and Jonathan Floyd and Brent Sams, his great grandchildren; Christina Whitacre, Camren Tanner, Evan and Riley Sharpe.
Visitation will be Monday, November 11th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service on Eastchester Drive, High Point. A service to celebrate Hobert’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12th in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with Reverend Doug Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.

HIGH POINT – Marvel “EJ” Griffith, 70, departed this earthly life on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at her residence. She was born on September 13, 1943 to Doris Halyard and the late Percival Jordan in Panama Canal Zone. She was preceded in death by one son, David M. Nooks, Jr.
She moved to High Point in the early 1990’s and became involved in volunteer work for Macedonia Community Outreach Partnership Center. She was a translator for the Hispanic Outreach at First Wesleyan Church, Mental Health Association of High Point and served on the Advisory Board for Guilford County.
Marvel received the NC Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service for Guilford County.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: mother, Doris Halyard, two daughters, Gina(Marvin) Nooks Jacobs and Vicky (Michelle) Sterling; two sons, George McCleary and George (Jerry) (Rebekka) Watson; three sisters, Delores, Rita and Valeria; one brother, Iva (Tito); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held at a later date.

JAMESTOWN — Mrs. Inez Sams Nelson, 97, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013 at The Shannon Gray Rehabilitation and Recovery Center.
Mrs. Nelson was born on January 23, 1916 in Stokes County to the late Rebecca Hall Sams and Elijah Sams, and lived most of her adult life in High Point. She was married to Sam R. Nelson, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Nelson spent her life as a homemaker and was a member of Westchester Baptist Church.
Surviving is her son, Jerry Nelson and wife Bonna of High Point, and Jimmy Nelson and wife Judy of Jamestown, NC, three grandchildren, Greg, Justin, Jacob Nelson and one great-grandchild Luke Nelson.
Funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Monday, November 11, 2013 at Sechrest Funeral Chapel in High Point with Rev. Eric Peacock officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
