Betty Sue Black
LEXINGTON — Betty Sue Leonard Black, 80, of Hargrave Street, died Dec. 28, 2012, at the Hinkle Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel.

Judith “Judy” Gilliam Bulla
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Judith (Judy) Gilliam Bulla, 68, died  Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012.
Mrs. Bulla was born May 31, 1944 in Burlington;  a daughter of Dr. James S Gilliam and Virginia Cope Gilliam and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a  interior designer for the Furniture Market.   
She graduate of High Point High School and Salem College and received her Master’s Degree from UNC-G. in Interior Design.  On July 18, 1966 she married Richard Bulla who survives of the home.
Also surviving are daughters, Tracy Hayes Bulla of Greensboro  and Ivy Alexander Bulla of Charlotte; brothers, James S. Gilliam II and Gerald T. Gilliam both of High Point.
A Memorial  Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.  Visitation will follow in the Asbury Room.
Memorials may be directed to the Brain Injury Association, High Point Chapter, 301 Otteray Ave., High Point, N.C. 27266.

SOPHIA — Laura Patricia Chitty Cleary, 77, a resident of Sophia, died Jan. 1, 2013.

Virginia Marie Spoon Craven
ARCHDALE — Virginia Marie Spoon Craven, 81, went to heaven to be reunited with her loving husband, Earl, on Dec. 31, 2012 at 11:47 a.m. at Thomasville Medical Center.  She was surrounded at her beside by her family. 
She was born on June 4, 1931, in Forrest, Ohio to the late Marie Kuntz Spoon and Raymond Spoon.  She was retired from the Randolph County School System where she worked for Trinity High School for 20 years.  She was a member of Garrell Street Baptist Church and was a resident of Archdale most of her life.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl Thomas Craven on Oct. 3, 2007, whom she married June 14, 1952.
Surviving are four daughters, Debbie Slaydon and husband Rick of High Point, Faye Diane Craven of the home, Sharon Craven Brown and husband Eddie and Kathy Craven Cashatt, all of Denton; one son, Earl Thomas Craven, Jr. and wife Donna of Thomasville; a brother, Jerry Spoon of Van Wert, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Charles Cardwell and Stephanie, Christy Cardwell and Jason, David Hill and Jennifer, Scotty and Luci Hill, Michael and Nikki Craven, Nicholas Craven, Stephen and Shelley Cashatt, Amanda and John Chatman, Stephanie Saintsing, and Lindsay and Jared Potter; 14 great-grandchildren, Ashley Dempsey, Jordan Dempsey, Jesse Cardwell, Carter Cashatt, Chase Cashatt, Joseph Craven, Kainee Saintsing, Shaina Saintsing, Kyle Dempsey, Kyleigh Shelton, Hannah Shelton, Jonathan Potter, Haley Lane, and Emily Lane; and her loving companions, Abby, Lady Bug, Scooter, Missy, Sugar, and Romeo.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Donna Faye Smith Hoston
HIGH POINT — Donna Faye Smith Hoston, 55, of High Point entered into her Heavenly home on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at High Point Cancer Center. 
Donna was born in High Point on Dec. 8, 1957, to the late Henry and Ethel Bell Everette Smith.  She graduated from High Point Central High School.  She was employed with various retail stores for many years.  Donna was a dedicated member of Brown’s Chapel Holiness Church for fifteen years.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one sister, six brothers and one grandson.
Donna leaves to cherish her fond memories to her devoted husband, Rodney Hoston of the home, two sons, Joshua L. Smith, and Brian E. Smith of High Point; five grandchildren, Kilik, Taylor, Bri’Yanna, Sa’Miyah Smith and Christopher Skager; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Smith of High Point; godmother, Marie Fleming of High Point; whole life sisters, Vanessa, Lynn and Claudia Pemberton all of High Point; one nephew, four nieces; a host of cousins, church family and friends.

Lawrence Miller Jones
COLFAX — Lawrence Miller Jones, 89, died Dec. 30, 2012, of complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Smith Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late Laura Miller Jones and Suttle Webster Jones. He was a graduate of Colfax High School Class of 1940. He then served his country during WWII with the US Army Air Corp in Italy. He was retired from the Lily Company(now Valspar) in High Point. He had been a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church, a deacon, and also taught Sunday School for approximately 50 years.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Jones Kirk, sister Laura Nuckles, and brothers Commodore and David Jones.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Helen Pitts Jones; daughter Beverly Jones Sechler and husband Gary of Wexford, PA; granddaughters Ashley Sechler and Lauren Sechler of Wexford, PA, and Suzanne Kirk of Menlo Park, CA; sisters-in-law Dovie Pitts Dull and Louise Pitts Byrd; brothers-in-law Gene Pitts and his wife Oma Lou, and Harvey Pitts and his wife Lala; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will visit with friends from 6-8pm Thursday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville.

Eugene S. Krusch
GREENSBORO — Eugene S. Krusch, 78, passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Duke University Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Beth David Synagogue with Rabbi Eliezer Havivi officiating. Burial will follow at the Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery.
Gene was born in Newark, NJ on August 18, 1934. He served his country in the US Army and graduated from Columbia University School of Pharmacy. He acquired AGI Industries in 1975 and operated it for 22 years until his retirement. He was a member and past president of Beth David Synagogue, founding member and board member of B’nai Shalom Day School and served as the Treasurer of the Greensboro Jewish Federation. Gene was an avid golfer and always enjoyed his close friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed.
Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Carole ; sons, Michael  and wife Allison, Eddie and wife Elizabeth; four grandsons and two granddaughters;  brother Harold Krusch and wife Bernice and brother-in-law, Alan Bardy and wife Arlene; sister-in-law, Eileen Silver; mother-in-law, Jan Levy and cousins, Allan and Ellen Ross, Irv and Irene Cohen.

DENTON — Coine Ward Nance, 90, of Denton, died Dece. 31, 2012.

Herman (Buddy) Edward Poole
SOPHIA — Mr. Herman (Buddy) Edward Poole, 88, resident of Sophia, died December 30, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Poole was born July 14, 1924 in Randolph County, a son to the late Troy Franklin and Maie Osborne Poole.  He was veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in the 78th Lightening Division in World War II.  A resident of this area most of his life, he was a member of High Point Seventh Day Adventist Church and had worked as a carpenter and electrician.  His wife, the former Lila Ruth Edgemon, preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Vickie Poole Walters and husband Richard of Florida and Cynthia Poole Slack and husband Darrel of Tennessee; a son, Timothy E. Poole and wife Amanda of Archdale; two sisters, Virginia Martin of Florida and Rosalee Clodfelter of High Point; one brother, Richard Poole and wife Jewel of Glenola; and two step-daughters, Nancy Nelson and husband Bloice of Florida and Joyce Carbajol of California.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Ebenezer Memorial Church with Rev. Barbara Ann Sechrist
THOMASVILLE ­— Barbara Ann Sechrist, 70, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Baptist Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born in High Point to the late Walter Herman and Faye McAnally Lynch French. Barbara was of the Baptist faith and worked for many years as a nursing assistant. She loved spending time with her dog and birds, watching tv, and was a fan of professional wrestling. She was a compassionate person, fun loving, and could brighten up any ones day. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. 
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gray Sechrist, a daughter  Shannon Elise Haire, a son, Michael Allen French, a brother Roger Michael French and a sister Linda Faye McDowell. She is survived by a son Darrell Sechrist and  wife Christine, five sisters, Judy Woodard and Charles, Sharon Elekes and Joseph, Janet Davidson and Bob, Kathy McDow and Gary,  Robin Daniels and Tim and a brother Steven Randall French and Zandra. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Sechrest Funeral Chapel in High Point with the Rev. Kenneth Letterman officiating. HIGH POINT – Orlando L. Sheppard, 49, died Dec. 31, 2012, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Grayson Lee Spencer Sr.
TRINITY — Grayson Lee Spencer, Sr. 90 of Trinity died Monday at High Point Regional Hospital. 
Born Nov. 21, 1922, in Randolph County he is a son of the late Jonathan Monroe Spencer and Nannie Lee Poole Spencer.  He was an ordained minister who started and pastored several churches for the Freewill Baptist Conference.  He had a strong love for animals especially his dog Snowball.
Mr. Spencer is survived by his wife of 65 years Arlene Spencer of the home and four children; Grayson Lee “Pete” Spencer, Jr , of Trinity, Vickie Spencer of Trinity, Betty Carter and husband  Von of Trinity and Alice Scott and husband Tom of Conyers, GA.  He is also survived by a sister Ina Mae Ambrose of Norfolk, VA, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Spencer will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale with the Reverend  Bill Barnes officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Dustin Andrews Spillers
HIGH POINT – Dustin Andrews Spillers, 31, died Dec. 30, 2012, born on Jan. 21, 1980 a son of Stephen Andrews Spillers and Jeanne Jones Spillers.  He was a manufacturer representative for the last ten years with Carolyn Fabrics, Inc., and P. Collins, Ltd., and lived in Wilmington, NC.
He attended Westchester Country Day, graduated from High Point Central in 1998, and attended Appalachian State University.
Dustin left in body, but not in spirit.  He leaves memories and much laughter to be cherished by his father and mother and his younger brother William Johnston Spillers, II, that he was so very proud of.  His beloved grandparents that will miss him so:  Mr. and Mrs. Kenzie Jones, of the Villages, Florida; Mr. and Mrs. William Johnston Spillers of High Point and Naples, Florida; and Mrs. Carolyn Andrews Bundy of High Point.  Dustin will never be forgotten by his favorite three uncles; Mike, Bo, and Johnny Jones, his aunts and beautiful cousins that he adored.
Dustin left a legion of fiercely loyal friends all over the country.  He loved the outdoors and experienced Outward Bounds across the country.  He doted on the little children of his friends and he loved his dogs, Hayden, Rugger and Junior.  He loved life, laughter, great clothes and the Tar Heels and especially his mom, dad and brother.
A  memorial service will be held  2 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2012 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Alexander  Ward officiating.  The family will receive friends in the Asbury Room following the service.
