LEXINGTON — Jacqueline Vaughn Allen, 59, of Bookington Drive, died Dec. 21, 2012, at the Hinkle Hospice House. 
Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Files Chapel Baptist Church, with visitation at 12:30 p.m. Burial follows in Lexington City Cemetery.

LEXINGTON — Thomas Julian Bates, 85, of Lexington died Dec. 22, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Health- Lexington Medical Center.
A graveside service  will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Brynda Hamilton Bullard

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Brynda Hamilton Bullard, 69, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical.
Mrs. Bullard was born in High Point, March 23, 1943, a daughter of the late Jesse and Pauline Hodge Hamilton.  A resident of High Point/Thomasville her entire life, she was a 1961 graduate of High Point Central High School and attended Women’s College.  She and her husband, Malcolm F. Bullard owned and operated the Malcolm Bullard Insurance Agency for many years.  He preceded her in death in 2005.  Brynda was a very outgoing person and a member of Rich Fork Baptist Church, the Order Eastern Star, the Red Hat group, Liberty Bells and the Junior Women’s Club.  She volunteered with Hospice of Davidson County and enjoyed line dancing.  Brynda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook and garden. 
Surviving are a daughter, Layne Bullard-Kelley and husband John of Lexington; a granddaughter, Ashleigh Kelley and grandson, Christopher Kelley; two sisters, Barbara Strickland of Marion, S.C., and Frances Jermyn of Rock Hill, S.C.; brother in laws, Franklin Bullard and wife Betsy of Scotland Neck and Gattis Bullard and wife Joann of Salisbury;  special cousin, Ellen Strickland and husband Rob; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Brynda’s Life will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by the Rev. Michael Bowers and the Rev. Eric Disher.  Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m.  Memorials may be made to Hospice.  Online condolences may be made at davisfuneralsandcremations.com.

WADESBORO — Leroy Otille Clinton, 92, of Wadesboro died Dec. 19, 2012.

Grover R. Courtney

LENOIR — Grover R. Courtney, age 65, of Hartland Road, Lenoir, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care – Hudson. He was born October 21, 1947, in Caldwell County to the late Danny M. Courtney, Sr. and Doris Harward Courtney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny M. Courtney, Jr.
Mr. Courtney was a self-employed carpenter. He was also a United States Navy Veteran having served in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rena’ Golds Courtney of the home; and one brother, Henry Harward Courtney of Washington, DC.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Littlejohn United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Dr. Steve Parker.

Herman “Clyde” Crook

THOMASVILLE — Herman “Clyde” Crook, better known as “Pop”, 80, of Thomasville, entered Heaven’s gates the morning of December 23, 2012.
Clyde was born November 23, 1932, in Union County to Charlie and Susie Spittle Crook. He attended Indian Trail High School and graduated from Wingate College. He served our country in the US Army from 1952 - 1954, and then was in the insurance business, working with Southland and Durham Life until his retirement. During his career, Clyde obtained L.U.T.C., C.L.U., and L.U.T.C.F. designations in the insurance field. He served terms as president of Monroe Life Underwriters, Fayetteville Life Underwriters, and High Point Underwriters. He proudly served his church community as chairman of the deacons and was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Thomasville as long as his health allowed. He was also in the Indian Trail Lion’s Club and was a member of the Thomasville Civitans.
Clyde was an avid sports fan, loving Duke basketball and NASCAR racing, especially drivers Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Tony Stewart. Prior to his stroke in 2001, he always was seen around town offering a helping hand and serving in any way he could. Despite declining health, he never lost his unique sense of humor. His joyful outlook gave sustaining strength to all who knew him. He was a beloved father and doting grandfather. Pop adored his four grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Clara Vickery and Linda Riggins; and by his beloved son Mitchell Troy Crook.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Holshouser of the home; two children Deborah C. Cranfill of Winston-Salem and her husband, Bob; and Darrell Crook of Pleasant Garden and his wife Marie; four precious grandchildren, Kelly Routh, Jake Routh, Alley Crook and Tyler Crook; two sisters, Jessie West of Monroe and Sadie Broome of Matthews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon-2 p.m. Thursday Dec. 27, 2012, at Thomasville Funeral Home. A celebration of Clyde’s life will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Thomasville Funeral Home. Internment will immediately follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park, at other times at the home of Carolyn and Clydes.

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Phyllis Ann Johnson Haley, 78, of Thomasville, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012.

Margaret Jones Harris

HIGH POINT — Mrs. Margaret Jones Harris, age 92, passed away December 23, 2012, in Westchester Manor in High Point.
Mrs. Harris as born in Thomasville on November 6, 1920, to Ervin Lafayette and Hester T. Cox Jones.  She was employed with High Point Regional Hospital for twenty five years as a technician and retired in l985.  Mrs. Harris was a devoted member of Conrad Memorial Baptist Church and the Ladies III Class of the Sunday School.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Money and her brother, Ervin L. Jones, Jr.
Surviving are three daughters: Marcia Ferguson and husband Jim, Cindy Rice and husband Charles, all of High Point; and Judith Brown and husband Robert of Archdale.   Mrs. Harris is also survived by her dear six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service at 1301 E. Lexington Avenue in High Point with the Reverend Marcus Campbell officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.

THOMASVILLE —Bonnie Jackson Perdue, 63 of Thomasville died Sunday at the Hospice Home at High Point.  Born May 15, 1949, in High Point, Mrs. Perdue is a daughter of the late Robert Owens Jackson and Evelyn Yates Jackson.   She retired from Myrtle Desk as a cabinet maker after 15 years of service.
She is survived by her husband Darrell Gene Perdue of the home and one son Darrell Gene Perdue, Jr and wife Belinda of Archdale and three grandchildren, Meghan Perdue, Mallory Perdue and Michael Perdue.  Mrs. Perdue is also survived by two sisters, Vicky Allred and husband Joseph of Archdale and  Peggy Tuttle of King.
Funeral services for Mrs. Perdue will be held 11 a.m.Thursday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale with the Reverend Frank Hensley officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mary Grace Small Wall

SOPHIA —Mrs. Mary Grace Small Wall, 90, of Level Plains Rd. went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, December 23, 2012, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Wall was born March 3, 1922, in Davidson County a daughter of the late Robert Lee Small and Mary Ann Thompson Small. She was a graduate of Hasty High School in 1939 and retired from Tomlinson Furniture after 42 years of employment. A former member of Hasty Baptist Church, church choir and taught Sunday School for 23 years. She was a member of Sophia Baptist Church and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Wall was married July 5, 1940, to John Franklin Wall. He died November 1, 2008.
Surviving one daughter, Mrs. Judy Wall Dean and husband Lindsay of Trinity; one son, Edward “Ed” Wall and wife Teresa of Sophia; one sister, Beatrice Disher of Thomasville; Six grandchildren, Lisa Wall, Lauren Westmoreland and husband Mike, Dale Wall and wife Cathy, Arlyn Wall and wife Evelyn, Debbie Dean and Chad Landreth and wife Tanya;  seven great-grandchildren, Lindsay Walker, Paula Walker, Chase Westmoreland, Tyler Wall, Johnathon Wall, Hayley Landreth and Aubrey Landreth.
Funeral service for Mrs. Wall will 2 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Sophia Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Mrs. Wall will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home 122 W. Main St. Thomasville until placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday, December 26, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m.
