Lydian Beck
LEXINGTON – Lydian Eleanor Beck, 21 of New Bowers Road, died Dec. 22, 2012, at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem from injuries received in a car accident.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Becks Lutheran Church.

Wennell M. Brannon
TRINITY – Ms. Wennell M. Brannon, 81, of Trinity transitioned home on Friday, December 21, 2012 at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center.
Wennell was born on March 28, 1931 in Guilford County.  A lifelong resident she attended public school and was later employed as a domestic worker.  Ms. Brannon was a faithful and active member of St. Mary’s United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Senior Choir and United Methodist Women as well as a participant in other organizations at the church and in the community.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by several nieces, cousins, other extended family and friends.
Funeral will be noon, Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, 5583 Rockford Drive, Trinity, NC with Rev. Phyllis Coates officiating.  Burial will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown.  Family visitation will be at the church on Wednesday, 11:30 to noon and other times at the Simon residence, 3926 Blairwood St., High Point.  Johnson and Sons is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.johnsonandsonsinc.com.

Brynda Bullard
THOMASVILLE – Mrs. Brynda H. Bullard, 69, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
A Celebration of Brynda’s Life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Davis Funerals & Cremations Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m.  A full obituary will run in a later edition.

Walter Burkhart Sr.
ARCHDALE – Mr. Walter Charles Burkhart Sr., 77, resident of Archdale, died December 21st, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Burkhart was born November 3rd, 1935 in Guilford County, a son to the late Arthur Charles and Annie Wray Burkhart.  A resident of the Randolph county area 32 years, he had worked at Blue Bell, Anvil Brand, Leggett and Platt and was retired from Carolina Container.  He was of the Quaker faith.  In 1960 he married the former Kathy Love who survives of the residence.
Also surviving is a son, Richard Burkhart of Eden; and a grandson, Brandon Charles Cool of Stoneville.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Pastor Chris Hicks officiating.  Interment will follow at Pine Hall Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Walnut Cove.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.  On-line condolences may be made through www.cumbyfuneral.com.

HIGH POINT – Alice C. Foddrell, 102, died Dec. 21, 2012. at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation & Recovery Center.

James Hedgecock
THOMASVILLE – Mr. James Hollis Hedgecock 85, of Thomasville, died Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2012, at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. 
He was born April 1, 1927 in Davidson County, a son of the late Luther Hedgecock and Lola Everhart Hedgecock.  He was a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture Industries. He was a loving husband and father and a blessing to all who knew him.  In addition to his parents and wife of sixty years Frances Louise Myers Hedgecock he was preceded in death by sisters Hazel Byerly, Ovada Leonard, Gracie Stevenson and Beverly Setzer.
Surviving is a son Ricky Hedgecock and his wife Jan of Archdale and a sister Mabel Stewart of Archdale. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday December 23, 2012 at 2:00pm in Greenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Ferguson officiating.  Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.  Mr. Hedgecock will remain at the J. C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church thirty minutes prior to the service.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8pm.

HIGH POINT – Mr. James Gregory (Greg) Johnson, 52, resident of High Point died Dec. 22, 2012, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Johnson was born September 14th, 1960 in Forsyth County, a son to Jimmie and Louise Church Johnson.  A resident of this area all his life, he was a member of Life Community Church and was employed at Cumby Family Funeral Service as a funeral assistant.  Greg was a lover of all sports, especially University of Alabama Football, had a positive outlook on life, and was kind to everybody.
Surviving is his mother of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Taylor Johnson of High Point; a son, Will Johnson of High Point; three sisters, Vicki Johnson of Winston-Salem, Beverly Martin of Winston-Salem and Marcia Grashoff and husband Bob of Pennsylvania; one nephew, John Michael Martin of Winston-Salem; and two nieces, Lynne Martin of Winston-Salem and Kelsey Grashoff of Pennsylvania.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with Rev. Curt Hernandez officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  His early morning YMCA buddies are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.

GREENSBORO – James C. “Jimmy” Mills, a resident of Greensboro, died Dec. 21, 2012, at Moses Cone Hospital.

Katie Nealey
THOMASVILLE - Katie Nealey, 76, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
Katie was born Dec. 14, 1936 in Columbus County, NC to the late Lucian and Sarah Jane Cartrette Sellers.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Linda Garrison and husband Bob, Brenda Friedmann and husband Jeffrey; grandchildren, Alischa Wilson and her fiancé Kenny Hall, Crystal Shoaf and husband Scott, Roby Clodfelter and wife Brandy; great grandchildren, Amber Williamson, Pamela Campbell and husband Joseph, Dylan Swaney, Cheyenne Justice, Chase Shoaf, Alex Shoaf; many nieces and nephews.
Katie lived a good Christian life. She was a very loving mother and was loved by all who met her.
There will be a visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Thomasville Funeral Home. A Chapel Service will follow at 1 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park with Reverend Joshua Sellers.

HIGH POINT – Harry Edward Price, 87, of High Point, died Dec. 22, 2012.

HIGH POINT – Dr. Charles Joseph Woelfel, 89, died Dec.  20, 2012, at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensboro.

THOMASVILLE – Pauline Bessie Osborne York, 92, died Friday, December 21, 2012 in the LibertyWood Nursing Home.
No services will be held. J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family.
