ASHEBORO ­— Annie Lou McGee Dunn, 63, of Asheboro, died Dec. 22, 2012. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at New Center Christian Church.


Christopher Joseph Hughes

LEXINGTON — Christopher Joseph Hughes, 31 of Old NC Highway 109 went home to be with his Lord Friday, Dec. 20, 2012.

Chris was born Feb. 18, 1981, in Guilford County, a son of Terry Hughes and Paula Myers. He was a member of Community Baptist Church and was employed with Darrells Tree Service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Hughes; grandfather, Clay Myers; and grandmother, Martha Flemming.

Surviving his daughter, Ana Hughes and a son, Terry Hughes, both of Thomasville; his mother, Paula Myers of Lexington; grandmother, Bonnie Myers of Lexington and grandfather, Joe Hughes, Sr. of Thomasville; two aunts, Karen Myers and Rita Hughes;

Four uncles, Curtis Myers, Joe Hughes, Travis Hughes and Chad Flemming; cousins, Amy Hughes, Stacy Hughes, Jeremy Hughes, Katie Myers and Kelsey Myers.

Funeral services for Chris will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Workman officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Chris will remain at  J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St. , Thomasville. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012, from 12 noon until the hour of the service at Community Baptist Church, 385 Ernest Snider Rd., Lexington, NC 27292.

Jimmy Mills

GREENSBORO — Mr. James C. “Jimmy” Mills, a resident of Greensboro, passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012.

Now it’s time to go forth to the next phase of his life. This isn’t the end, but the beginning.

Immediate family survivors are his loving wife, Nell Elliott Mills; his two sons, Mark and his wife Sharon, Steve and his wife Wendy; his grandson, Austin Mills; his two granddaughters, Hannah Mills and Jessica Brindle; two great grandsons, Nathaniel and Nicholas Brindle and his sister, Laura Mills Roberts and her husband Bill.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Radford Mills; his mother, Rosa Hart Mills; his brothers, Radford Mills, Jr., Claude Mills and his sister, Peggy Mills Crabtree.

He attended Proximity Jr. High School and Bessemer High School before joining the Navy where he spent four years as a medical corpsman during the Korean War. After being discharged, he continued to serve in the Naval Reserve. Jimmy worked at Western Electric where he met his wife, Nell, and later went to work at MBF, Inc. in the advertising department, and finally went to work for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired after 16 years. Jimmy and his wife Nell are members of Concord Friends Meeting, where he was a past elder and Sunday school teacher.

Jimmy’s favorite pastime was playing golf with his friends and brother-in-laws and spending time with family. Life and God has been good to Jimmy. “He has had his day in sun.”

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Greg Creed. Entombment will follow in the Guilford Memorial Park Tower Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Bonnie Perdue

THOMASVILLE — Bonnie Jackson Perdue, 63, of Thomasville died Dec. 23, 2012, at the Hospice Home at High Point.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.


Harry Edward Price Jr.

HIGH POINT — Harry Edward Price Jr., age 87, of High Point, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012. 

Harry was born on February 21, 1925, to Harry and Catherine G. Price in Great Neck, Long Island, NY.  Harry was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in High Point, NC.  He was a decorated, Bronze Star veteran of WWII where he saw action in France and Germany. He served in the 36th Texas Infantry Division, which had the highest casualty rate of all infantry divisions in the European theatre.

Following the war, he graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in textile manufacturing. While living in Garden City, New York, he was an executive for Burlington Industries in New York for 13 years, and then moved to High Point where he was a longtime resident.

He was longtime member of the High Point Country Club, the NC Fabric Mens Club and the High Point Furniture Club.  He also owned a house in Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island, SC, where he resided part time.  He retired in 1995 at the age of 70 as an independent upholstery fabric sales representative.  He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved nature, animals, saltwater and had a gift for storytelling. 

Besides his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Percival Price and a sister, Jane Price Scheid.  Survivors include his son, Harry E. Price III and his wife Sylvie of Erie, CO; daughter, Catherine Price Furnary and her husband Steve of Rye, NY; Peter J. Price and wife Marion of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Ryan and Chad Mills of Alaska, Tim Furnary and wife Lindsey of Rye, NY;  Alex and Scott Furnary of NY, Cathy Vaughn and husband Daniel of Greensboro, NC Stephanie Price of Tampa, FL and Peter Price of Greensboro, NC; great grandchildren, Daniel Price Vaughn and Molly Catherine Vaughn of Greensboro, NC, and nieces, Betty and Janet Scheid.

The Price family would like to thank Brighton Gardens of Greensboro, The Stratford of High Point, Wesley Long Hospital of Greensboro and Camdon Place of Greensboro for their love and care.

Linda Guffey Wilson

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Linda Guffey Wilson, 59, a resident of 147 Park Ave., passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in the Hinkle Hospice Home.

She was born Nov. 27, 1953, in Macon County NC, daughter of the late Robert Lee Guffey and Maude Florence Neal Guffey. Mrs. Wilson worked for several years as a clerk in the hotel industry. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and was a loving Wife, Mom, and Nana.

She was married to Mr. Clint Ernest Wilson, who survives of the home, with a marriage of 42 years. Surviving are, two daughters, Tracy Lynn Wilson and fiancé Eric Casarez of Thomasville, Angela Wilson Shaw and Eric Roth, Sr. of Winston-Salem; brothers, Jerry Guffey of Andrews, NC, and Michael Guffey and wife Bertha of Andrews, NC; sisters, Mary Sechrest and husband David of Archdale, NC, Polly Ledwell of Robbinsville, NC, Susie Phillips of Robbinsville, NC, and Tina Chandler of Andrews, NC; four grandchildren, Kimberly Justice, Alexus Shaw, Cody Shaw and Brandon Novak.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at 4 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville, NC, with Rev. Brian Crady officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
