Stephen Lee Henderson
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Stephen Lee Henderson, 71, a resident of Thomasville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Hinkle Hospice Home.
He was born Nov. 22, 1941 in York County, South Carolina, a son of the late Henry Lorance Henderson and Lillian Camp Henderson. He was owner of Operators Distributing Inc. and attended Cedar Lodge Baptist Church. He was also a member of Neuma F. Reid Masonic Lodge in High Point.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Douglas.
Steve was married July 22, 1962 to Mary Allen who survives of the home.
Also surviving are three daughters, Amy H. Leach and husband Brian of Thomasville, Shelly Penland and husband Mike of Newton and Patty Braswell and husband Rob of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Amber Douglas, Steve McSweeney, Eli Douglas, Charlie McSweeney, Marylei Penland and Jacklyn Penland; son-in-law, Jeff Douglas of Thomasville; one brother, Rance Henderson and wife Betty of Morganton; four sisters, Patsy Tart of Roanoke Rapids, Kay Davis and husband Bill, Phyllis Campbell and husband Ed, and Vivian Rikard and husband Jerry, all of Kings Mountain.
Celebration of Life service for Steve will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Cedar Lodge Baptist Church of Thomasville with the Rev. Max Evington and Rev. Roy Cantrell officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Daisy Rosetta Hazel, 94, formerly of Thomasville, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Westchester Manor in High Point.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. at New Grace Baptist Church Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.

Mary John Gray Allred
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Mary John Gray Allred, 66, a resident of Windsor Road, died Sunday morning, July 7, 2013 in the Hospice Home at High Point. She was born April 28, 1947 in Davidson County, a daughter of John Gray and Dorothy Conrad Gray. Mrs. Allred was a retired employee with the Davidson County Health Department.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Gray.
On March 22, 1970 she was married to Joseph Michael Allred, who survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Kelle Hearn and her husband Mark of Lexington; grandchildren, Connor Hearn and Logan Hearn; brothers, John Gray and wife Vicky and James Gray and wife Alice, all of Lexington; niece, Corinne Gray; nephews, John Elliott Gray, Samuel Gray, Scott Gray, E.J. Allred, Corey Allred, Lucas Allred and Josh Allred; and an aunt, Mrs. Carolyn Ward.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 3 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. D. Lee Jessup, Jr. and Chaplain Craig Walker officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

William Goff Davis
HIGH POINT — William Goff Davis, 66, of High Point, N.C., passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013.
He was born Nov. 9, 1946, in Weston, W.V., the son of Oleta Collins and Robert Leroy Davis.
He was educated in West Virginia and Delaware public schools, graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy, Valley Forge, Penn. in 1964, and from the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Va. in 1968.
He served in the United States Army from 1969 until honorably discharged in 1971, serving as protocol officer for the 8th Airborne at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C. Professionally, he held numerous sales positions in the furniture and textile industries, most notably with Globe Furniture, Golding Upholstery Fabrics, Ametex, and most recently, Worldwide Fabrics. He was a member of High Point Country Club and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, coached youth basketball teams at the High Point YMCA, and for the last fifteen years, was a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
On June 27, 1970, he married the former Janice Marie Holmes of Lexington, Va., who survives of the home. He is also survived by his son William Goff Davis, Jr., of Charlottesville, Virginia; his daughter Emily Holmes Davis of Durham, North Carolina; his mother Oleta Collins Davis of Ashburn, Virginia; his sister Roberta Davis and husband Thomas Byron Shafer of Warrenton, Virginia; and his niece Suzanne St. John, great-nephew Jack, and great-niece Lily of Leesburg, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert Leroy Davis.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 421 Hillcrest Drive, High Point, N.C. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 108 West Farriss Ave., High Point, NC 27262 with The Reverend David Umphlett, Rector and The Reverend Sara Palmer. Internment will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery, South Main Street, Lexington, Virginia 24450.

Fred Lafayette Stafford
HIGH POINT – Mr. Fred Lafayette Stafford, 68, formerly of 3013 Ingleside Drive, High Point, NC died at his home on June 28, 2013. He was born on Aug. 18, 1944 to the late Fred Stafford, Sr. and Augustine Stafford –Jett. He was preceded in death by his son, Fred Stafford, III.
Fred attended schools in High Point, graduating from William Penn High School Class of 1962. He then went on to serve in the United States Navy for eight years. Like his grandmother, he loved to study the Word of God; he received a degree in biblical studies from a Virginia College.
He was employed in several positions in High Point, lastly at the Depot, when he retired.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Carolyn Stafford of High Point, NC; one daughter, Robin Stafford of Reno, NV; one grand-daughter, Shaqueta Walker of Louisiana; one great-grandson, Kyle McGill of Louisiana; two sisters, Ethelyn Stafford and Valeria Baker both of High Point, NC; one brother, Johnny (Jett) Stafford and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Ave. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until 1 p.m. and other times at the home of his sister, 627 Wesley Drive, High Point, NC.

HIGH POINT — Nancy Farr Shehan Black, 76, a resident of High Point passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Frank and Mattie Farr, sister Frances Yannuzzi and brother Bill Farr, all from Asheboro.
She is survived by her children, Sherry Haithcock and husband Terry of Jamestown; Kay Shehan of High Point and Mike Shehan and wife Geri of St. Augustine, Fla. Grandchildren are Reid Haithcock of Jamaica Plain, Mass., and Casey and Haley Shehan of St. Augustine, Fla. Also surviving are sister Pete Rush Norris and husband John of Asheboro; brother Tommy Farr and wife Ginger of Seagrove along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Nancy retired from Owner’s Select Furniture in 2006 where she was an upholstery seamstress.
A celebration of her life with family and friends will be held at the family home on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Mary Harris Davis
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Mary Harris Davis, 96, completed her journey home to her Lord Monday, July 08, 2013 at the Hospice Home @ High Point.
Mrs. Davis was born in Cherokee County, SC, July 8, 1917, a daughter of George and Eunice Blackwell Harris. Educated by the Jesuits, she spent the early part of her life working as a nurse for a local physician. Later she worked as a seamstress at Anvil Brand and Acme Sample. Showing a tremendous work ethic, she worked well into her eighth decade. She enjoyed extensive travels throughout the United States. She traveled from Maine to the beaches of Hawaii bringing memories of the Grand Canyon, the Golden Gate and rafting the Colorado River amongst many others home to a loving family. Her later years included avid bird watching and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Davis, Sr. and four siblings. Mary was a member of Laurel Oak Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Deal and Mary Denise Davis and her husband Roger, both of High Point; three sons, John T. Davis, Jr. and wife Judy of High Point, Dale Davis of Franklinville and George Keith Davis and his wife Kathy of Concord; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, with one due in August. .
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Laurel Oak Christian Church by the Rev. Allen Brown. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston Salem. The family will receive friends at Davis Funerals and Cremations Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont.
