Rudolph Dennis Harper
DENTON — Mr. Rudolph Dennis Harper Jr., 85, resident of Denton and formerly of High Point, died September 26th, 2013, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.
Mr. Harper was born August 27th, 1928, in Duplin County, a son to the late Rodolph Dennis Harper Sr. and Eva Margaret Smith Harper. A resident of this area most of his life, he was retired from Styrex Industries and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in High Point. He loved reading and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was truly a family man, who will be greatly missed. In 1950 he married the former Virginia Haymore who preceded him in death in 2006. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded by his son, Brandon Harper in 2004, one sister and one brother.
Surviving are five children, Jerry Voncannon and wife Janice of Kernersville, Jan Jennings and husband Richard of Texas, Candy Frank and husband Lawrence of High Point, Ronda Patterson and husband Pat of High Point and Angie Harper of Greensboro; nine brothers and sisters; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in High Point with Bishop Jim McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Cemetery in Colfax. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. DENTON —Jessie Viola Bean Owens, age 107 formerly of NC HWY 8 died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Summerville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Flynn Richardson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
She was born January 19, 1906 in Davidson County to Bud Bean and Jane Bean. She was the oldest member of Summerville Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband; William Owens on July 14, 1979.
Ms. Owens is survived by her daughter; Charlotte Owens of Lexington and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home.

COLFAX — Jane Edmiston Miller, 88, died Sept. 26, 2013, at River Landing Retirement Community.

HIGH POINT — Penny Sirmons, 67, died Aug. 30, 2013, in Beacon Place, Greensboro. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Sechrest Funeral Chapel in High Point.
LEXINGTON — Sandra Dedmon Yarbrough, 58, died Sept. 26, 2013.
A funeral will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Welcome. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home.
LEXINGTON — Charlie Kenneth Carrick, 74, died Sept. 27, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ. The family will receive friends following the service.
LEXINGTON — Lewis Mock Owen, 81, died Sept. 27, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.
A Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jersey Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
