Margo Roome Atkins
GIBSONVILLE — Margo Roome Atkins was born on Dec. 12, 1945, and returned to her heavenly Father on June 28, 2014. She died peacefully at home surrounded by love and family. She was born in Hackensack, NJ to Margaret and Lawrence Roome. She was an extremely loving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Roome. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Lon Atkins; her daughters, Michelle Bruner of Burlington and Sister Lisa Atkins, Religious Sister of Mercy.
She was a lab specialist and retired from Ciba-Geigy in Greensboro. She was a current member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a long-term member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an enthusiastic volunteer with Meals on Wheels as well as a loyal volunteer to various ministries of the Sisters of Mercy in Belmont, NC. She was also devoted to Covenant House in New York City which cares for homeless children.
Margo demonstrated a genuine love and passion for God, family and friends. Her kindness and gentleness were abundant. She thrived on cooking and enjoyed traveling and entertaining. She loved animals. Her faith in God was immense. She was truly a gift from God – we will miss every second without her.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Joe and Mimi Alef who stuck by her side through thick and thin.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Mary Belle Clark
TRINITY — Mary Belle Edwards Clark, age 74, a resident of Trinity, passed away, Sunday, June 29, 2014.
She was born Jan. 3, 1940, in Pulaski, Virginia, to the late John Lester Edwards and Ida Bell Dalton Edwards. She was a retired textile worker and later cared for children in her home. She and her late husband, Jackie Alvin Clark, Sr., drove the church bus and worked with the children at Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member. Mary enjoyed canning, fishing, gardening and was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan. In addition to her parents, and her husband, preceding her in death were 2 sisters, Stella Johnston, Della Wright and her brothers, Henry, Bill, and Rufus Edwards.
She is survived by her children, Mildred Marley and her husband, Darrin, Jennnetta Rakestraw, Jackie Clark, Jr. and his wife Tammy; her sisters, Jenny Finn, Fannie Burnette, Nancy Smith, and her husband Neil, Shelby Powers and her husband Jeff; her grandchildren, Delta Dawn Marley, Tabitha Clifton, and Bryan Gillaspie. Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Payton Gillaspie, Camden Gillaspie, and Caben Gillaspie, her adopted daughter, Cindy Maness; her adopted grandchildren, Heather Shoaf, Kaylee Gross, and David Hopkins.
A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at Shady Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor Bobby Blackburn and Pastor Zekiel Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale. Janet Marie Combs
HIGH POINT — Janet Marie Combs, 75 of High Point died Friday at High Point Regional Hospital.
Born April 17, 1939 in Wilkes County she is a daughter of the late James Monroe Combs and Florine Pruitt Combs. Ms. Combs retired from Northstate after a 47 year career. In her free time she enjoyed fishing shopping, going to the beach and making chrismons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Jerry Lee Combs.
Ms. Combs is survived by her nephew Scott Combs and his wife Megan of Wilmington, NC, brother Gene Paul Combs of Trinity, nephew Ricky Combs and special family and friends Jo Tanner, Carol Lambert and Savannah Holbrook.
Funeral services for Ms. Combs will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point with the Reverend Roger Carmichael officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Center Baptist Church Cemetery in North Wilkesboro. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.

Alberta Little Curtis
HIGH POINT – Alberta Little Curtis was born on August 13, 1929 to the union of Andrew Little and Hattie Dumas Little in Mt. Gilead, NC. On June 27, 2014, Alberta went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
“Mice” as she was affectionately called by everyone came to live in High Point with her parents at a very early age. She was employed by The Fly-Back Company, several local Hosiery Mills and Laundries, which she loved and retired from.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Elizabeth Ann (Sug) Huff, one grandson, Tony D. Ledbetter, one son, Willie James Little (Punk Leake) and her husband, Edward Curtis.
She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, E. J. Leake; one daughter, Janice L. Ledbetter of the home; one sister, Ms. Deloris Whitworth of High Point, NC; one brother, LaVander Dumas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special recognition includes two special cousins, Mr. James Ewing, Jr. of Orange, NJ and Ms. Ella Bea Brown of High Point, NC; one whom she regarded as a son, Mr. Willie Dockery of Charlotte, NC and a special god daughter, Ms. Madia Barrino.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

DURHAM — Delois “Debe” Ingram, 64, departed her life on June 27, 2014.
She leaves behind one daughter; one grandson; one sister; four brothers; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends.
A viewing will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, prior to the funeral service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

GREENSBORO — Matthew Arnold Kusiak, 23, of Greensboro, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in Orlando, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Temple Emanuel, 1129 Jefferson Road, Greensboro, NC with Rabbi Andy Koren officiating. Interment will follow at the Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery. A Shiva Minion will be held at 2804 Hackney Way, Jamestown, NC on Wednesday beginning at 5:45 p.m.
A memorial service will be held for Matthew on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 5:45 p.m. at Temple Emanuel.
Matthew had a playful spirit. His life on this earth was incredibly short yet he touched everyone with kindness, respect, humor, and tremendous love. Matt’s smile would light up the room and his laughter would always lift your spirits.
He will be greatly missed by his parents, Jeanne and Phil, his grandparents Adrian and Natalie Weiss, aunts and uncles too numerous to enumerate, and a multitude of cousins and friends, many from Greensboro Day School and UNC-Chapel Hill.

Paul Herbert Lee
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Paul Herbert Lee, 93, a resident of Thomasville, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Davie Place.
Paul was a lifelong resident of Davidson County, was born April 29, 1921 a son of the late John William Lee and Emma Pearl Meyers Lee. He was also preceded in death by a son, George Terry Lee, and brothers and sisters. On December 14, 1942 he married Nell Davis and they enjoyed sixty nine years of marriage before she passed away on January 3, 2011. For forty years Paul used his truck to transport brick for Cunningham Brick, attended Thomasville Church of God, was an outdoorsman loving to hunt deer, go fishing, farming and enjoyed working. Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving is his daughter, Vicki Lee Floyd of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren, Derrick Lee, Matthew Floyd and Andrew Floyd; great grandchildren, Holly, Paula, Caleb, Logan; his brother, Austin Lee and wife Peggy of Thomasville, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Interment will follow at Fair Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

ARCHDALE — Kermit Quentin Metheny, 96, of Havenwood Drive, Archdale, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the Hospice Home at High Point.
Kermit was born July 17, 1917, in Elkins, West Virginia, son of Henry and Pearl Mae Metheny. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during WWII. Kermit was a longtime member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of High Point where he served as deacon, usher and choir member. He retired from The High Point Enterprise after nearly forty years of employment. Kermit loved gardening, spending most of his free time tending to his own garden. He will be remembered as a God loving, hard working, caring father, grandfather, husband and friend; who will be missed dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Mable Dumire and Erma Siler, and brothers: Blaine, Clair, Russell, Thurman, Junior and Gerald Metheny. On, Nov. 16, 1945, he married the former Gladys Alma King; who passed away May 3, 1993.
He was married on Aug. 6, 1994, to Gladys “Shine” Hunt who survives of the home. Also surviving are two daughters: Mary Ann Bogle, of Archdale and Betty Knighton, of Lexington; two granddaughters, Amanda Bogle Stork & husband William Stork of Greensboro and Melissa Bogle Flowers of Burlington; three great-grandchildren, Caitlin Clement of Raleigh, Adam Stork of Boone, and Joshua Stork of Charlotte.
A celebration of Kermit’s life will be held on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Jack Goodson and Harold Talley officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
