GREENSBORO - Paula Frances Clemons, 61, passed away on Tuesday, May 20,

Larry East

SOPHIA — Mr. Larry Joe East, 73, died May 20, 2014. 

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Caraway Baptist Church. Arrangements by Sechrest Funeral Service, Archdale.


Debbie Flowers  

HIGH POINT- Debbie Denise Flowers, 48, also known as “Deborah” or “Pintoe,” was born on September 5, 1965 in Laurinburg, NC to Doris Malloy and the late Robert “Sunny” Nicholson.

God needed a solider, so he took Deborah on May 16, 2014 at High Point Regional UNC Healthcare.

She attended North Carolina Public Schools in Laurinburg, NC and High Point, NC; and received her diploma from High Point Central High School.  Debbie enjoyed playing sports such as baseball, basketball and running track in her younger years. She enjoyed being a good mother, friend, and a party person.  She was the definition of work hard, play hard. Prior to her employment at Brookdale Senior Living Center, she was employed at T. Wingate Andrews High School.

Debbie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Jessie “Bell” Nicholson; her father, Robert Nicholson; three uncles, John Nicholson, David Nicholson and Henry Nicholson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, mother, Doris Malloy of High Point, NC; five children, Sierra Brown, James Bethea, Tierra Thomassen, Jessica Flowers and Miracle Flowers, all of High Point, NC; brother, Jerome Flowers of High Point, NC; sister, Robin Neal of Laurinburg, NC; two aunts, Cynthia Nicholson of Laurinburg, NC and Alberta Reynolds of Newark, NJ; one uncle, James “Jim” Nicholson of Laurinburg, NC; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends who will never forget her. 

Funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at First Emmanuel Baptist Church, 833 Leonard Ave. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown, NC.  The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc., High Point, NC.

Mrs. Sallie Frances Dockery

GREENSBORO — Mrs. Sallie Frances Dockery, 92, a resident of Greensboro Retirement Center and a former resident of High Point, passed away Tuesday.

Mrs. Dockery was born in Stokes County, May 17, 1922, a daughter of the late Zeb Vance Mabe and Ressie Davis Mabe. She retired from Patrician Furniture after 40 years of service and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Sallie was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Dockery III, her son, Benjamin Franklin Dockery IV, and four siblings.

Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Dunn and her husband A.C. of Siler City; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Sallie’s Life will be held Saturday, May 24th at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel in High Point, North Carolina by Pastor Cameron Dockery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the music fund for First United Methodist Church, 1101 W. Raleigh Street in Siler City, N.C., 27344.

Polly Gallimore

DENTON — Martha Pauline “Polly” Ridge Gallimore, 95,  died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Mountain Vista Health Park.

The funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.


Laura King      

HIGH POINT — Laura Hill King, age 56, of High Point, passed away peacefully Tuesday May 20, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

Laura was born September 17, 1957 in High Point, North Carolina to Luther Bennett Hill Junior and Letha Harrill Hill. She is survived by her beloved son, Andy King and his wife Katie; her significant other, Preston Parsons Jr.; her brother, Ben Hill and his wife Marti; her niece Elizabeth Hill; her nephews, Luke Hill and Rob Hoyt; and her beloved aunts, cousins and close friends.

Service of Remembrance will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church in High Point. Visitation will be held after the service.

Mr. Charlie Odell Nance      

THOMASVILLE — Mr. Charlie Odell Nance, 86, of Piedmont Crossing, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. 

He was born June 17, 1927 in Randolph County to John Nance and Mary Wall Nance.  He was self-employed as a carpenter.  Mr. Nance also was a veteran in the U. S. Navy serving with the Seabees during World War II.  He attended God’s Harvest Worship Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

He was married October 9, 1946 to Ruby Wardlaw Nance, who survives of Piedmont Crossing.  Also surviving are sons, John Nance and wife Marilyn of Trinity, and Tom Nance and wife Kim of Thomasville; daughters, Sherry Bumgarner and husband Pete of Thomasville, Martha Jo Hill and husband Jimmy of Denton, and Gina Fidler and husband Scott of Raleigh; one brother, John Nance, Jr. of Thomasville; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. 

Graveside service will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 at Holly Hill Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Pete Bumgarner and Rev. Joe Beane officiating.  Mr. Nance will remain at J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home until the service hour.  No formal visitation will be held. 

The family will be receiving friends at the home of a daughter, Sherry Bumgarner, 2610 Tree Hollow Ext., Thomasville, prior to and following the service.  Memorials may be directed to Servant’s Table, c/o of God’s Harvest Worship Center, P.
