Kathryn Herrin
WINSTON-SALEM — Kathryn Sue Craig Herrin, 65, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Wallburg. Visitation will be immediately following the service. 

Gracie Virginia Holder
ARCHDALE — Gracie Virginia Holder went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2013, at the age of 76.  She was born in Cumberland County, Virginia, on August 19, 1936, a daughter of Thomas William and Osie Dell Atkins, who both preceded her in death.
She was a faithful member of Gospel Baptist Church and loved each one. She was a homemaker but worked outside the home from time to time in the hosiery and sock industry.  She was an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors and all its beauty.  Camping, fishing and hiking were what she enjoyed during her spare time.  She was also a seamstress and enjoyed quilting.  She will be missed by many friends and loved ones.
On September 17, 1955, she was married to Walter Holder, Jr. who survives of the home. They were married for 57 years.  Also surviving are two sons, Darrell Holder and wife Diane of Trinity, N.C., Joseph Holder and wife Elizabeth of Mebane, N.C., two daughters, Vicki Leonard and husband Roy of Sophia, and Patricia Holifield and husband Ricky of Taylorsville; seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Frank Atkins and wife Lori of Arizona; and one sister, Alma George of Winston-Salem.  Also preceding her in death was a grandchild, Ginnie Holifield; brother, Fordie Atkins; and sister Mattie Folks.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gospel Baptist Church with Pastor Tim White and Reverend Frank Gribble officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 until 9 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale.

LEXINGTON — Tracy Ann Morgan, 27, died May 31, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Macedonia United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home.

Peggy Sullivan Scarlett
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Peggy Sullivan Scarlett, 80, a resident of Thomasville passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at her residence.
Peggy was born November 14, 1932, in Davidson County, N.C., a daughter of Charlie Lee Sullivan and Addie Rea Black Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers. Peggy had made this area her home most of her life and retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries. She formerly attended Community Baptist Church. Peggy enjoyed working in her gardens, (flowers and vegetables), canning vegetables, working word search puzzles, coloring, chewing her spearmint gum and was an excellent cook. On December 18, 1948, she married Archie Scarlett, who died July 19, 2010.
Surviving are her sisters, Juanita Tate and Laura Sue Cranford, both of Thomasville, and Shirley Hilton of the home; special sister-in-law, Linda Sullivan of Trinity; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; special niece and caregiver Cindy Ridge of the home, special great nephew, Trevor Ridge of the home; and special canine friend Cujo.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Ronnie Beane officiating. Interment will follow in the Community Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, N.C. 27292. Robert Ray Allen 
HIGH POINT — Mr. Robert Ray (Bob) Allen, 76, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the High Point Regional Hospital. 
A resident of this area for all of his life, Bob was born on June 18, 1936, in High Point to the late Clara Ida Brown and Theodore Roosevelt Allen. Bob married the former Betty Herndon on April 5, 1959, and enjoyed more than 54 years of marriage.
He was a businessman and well–known by many. He and his wife founded Timeless Bedding Inc., a mattress company that was located in High Point and Thomasville.  Bob had a love for the game of golf and was a former president of the Colonial Country Club in Trinity. As a very active member of the community, Bob was also a charter member of the Archdale Jaycees and a member of the Buck Club in Thomasville.  In his later years, he and his wife retired to High Rock Lake, where they enjoyed many happy years together. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lee Allen and a brother, Tommy Allen. 
Surviving is his wife, Betty Herndon Allen of the home; four children, Sherrie Williams and her husband Steve of Lexington, Ginger Bowman and her husband Jim of Sophia, Mike Allen of California, and Cindy Allen of California; and his sister, Jane James and her husband Raleigh of Richmond, Va. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Michael John Petty, Robert Dean Petty, Paul Christian Anhalt, Nicole Jean Anhalt, Stevie Rae Williams, Lindsey Bowman Cooper, Robby Bowman, Brett Bowman, and Amber Bull; and six great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Rd, Archdale,  with the his brother-in-law, Rev. Raleigh James officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

LEXINGTON — Gilmer “Lee” Phillips, 54, died May 31, 2013, at Lexington Medical Center.  A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship United Methodist Church. There will be no public visitation.
