Jessie Pauline Freeman Byrd
RALEIGH — Mrs. Jessie Pauline Freeman Byrd, 84, died Thursday in Raleigh after an extended illness.
A former resident of Greensboro, Mrs. Byrd was born in Guilford County Dec. 27, 1928, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Alice Freeman. She was married to Marlow Byrd who preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Byrd retired from Proctor and Gamble. She was a very friendly open person with lots of friends. She loved her family and extended family and was extremely fond of her two granddaughters. Mrs. Byrd was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Greensboro.
Mrs. Byrd is survived by a daughter Ann Byrd Phillips of Raleigh and two granddaughters, Allison Phillips of Raleigh and Emily Herring and husband Troy of Charleston, SC and a brother Jimmy Freeman and wife Peggy of Salisbury.
Graveside services for Mrs. Byrd will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will gather at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point on Monday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. to greet friends.

ARCHDALE – Danny Ray Cruthis, 49, died unexpectedly Thursday, while on business, in Sweet Springs, Mo.
Funeral plans are incomplete and will be announced by Cumby Funeral Service in Archdale.
THOMASVILLE — Manuel Estrada, 50, of W. Holly Hill Road, Thomasville, died at his home.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.
GREENSBORO — Vanessa Foddrell, 60, died May 31, 2013, at Moses Cone Hospital.

LEXINGTON — Jimmy Elias Harrelson, 75, of Sowers Road, died May 30, 2013, at Novant Health–Rowan.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
ASHEBORO — Lois Evelyn Nolen Heaton, 70, of Asheboro, died May 31, 2013.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home.
DENTON — Maggie Mae Hughes, 85, of 400 Vision Drive, Asheboro, and formerly of the Pine Hill Community, New London, died May 31, 2013, at Woodland Hill Center in Asheboro.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pine Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Virginia Irene Frazier Millikan
ARCHDALE - Mrs. Virginia Irene Frazier Millikan, age 91, went to be with her Lord late Wednesday night, surrounded by her loving family. She had been in declining health for the past four months.
A resident of this area for most of her life, Virginia was born in High Point Feb. 3, 1922, a daughter of the late James Ray and Velna Ada Robertson Frazier. She was a 1939 graduate of Allen Jay High School and later became a “stay at home mom” who loved to cook and take care of her family. A devout Quaker, Virginia was an active member of Asheboro Friends Meeting, where she sang in the church choir for twenty six years and served as choir treasurer. She also was co-chairperson of the Hospitality and Faith Fellowship committees of the church as well as being a member of the Elderberries. On March 10th, 1945 she married Raeford Elvin Millikan who passed away October 8th, 1988. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers and their spouses, Jonathan Robert Frazier and his wife Hazel, David Clifton “Tippy” Frazier and his wife Dorothy and a niece, Carol Jadene Frazier Hill.
Survivors include two sons, James Elvin “Jimmy” Millikan and his wife Judy and David Ray Millikan all of Archdale; two grandsons, James Benjamin Millikan and his wife Trisha and Jeffrey Reid Millikan and his wife Holli; two great-grandsons, Joshua Benjamin Millikan and Holdyn Jacob Millikan and three step great-grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, and Lindsey Hooper. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Asheboro Friends Meeting House with pastors Ken and Pat Thames officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale and on Sunday at the Meeting House from 2:30 until time for the service. Interment services will be at 11 a.m/ Monday at Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Asheboro Friends Meeting, 230 East Kivett Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.

Louis Francis Ovittore Jr.
HIGH POINT — Mr. Louis Francis Ovittore Jr., 65, passed away May 29, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Lou was born in Mt Vernon, NY, April 15, 1948, a son of the late Louis Francis Ovittore Sr and Carmella Margaret Evelle Ovittore. He retired from Volvo after 20+ years of service as an I.T. professional. He was a 4th Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus Council 939, Lions Club member and formerly served on the board of the Davidson County Boys and Girls Club. Lou was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Barbara D Ovittore; a daughter, Staci Leigh Martin and husband Sean of Winston-Salem; a son, Jay Ovittore of Greensboro; a granddaughter, Mallori Sophia Martin; a sister, Patty Zahra and husband David of Great Falls, VA; two brothers, Ronnie Ovittore of South Berry, CT and Tommy Ovittore and wife Laura of Bethel, CT; several nieces and nephews.
Prayer service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by Deacon Wally Haarsgaard. Entombment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m.

LINWOOD — James T. “Big Jim” Voyles, 79, of Old Salisbury Road, died May 30, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Linwood United Methodist Church.
