Joe Trogdon 
ASHEBORO — William Joseph “Joe” Trogdon, age 80, of Asheboro died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Randolph Hospice House.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, 737 Albemarle Road, Asheboro with Dr. Donald Haynes officiating.
Mr. Trogdon was born in Asheboro on November 19, 1932.  He was a graduate of Asheboro High School and a 1954 graduate of North Carolina State University, where he was a member of the Army ROTC.  He married Siewers Anne Peoples on August 6, 1955 and she preceded him in death in October 2000.  Joe served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the U.S. Army from 1955-1957, serving in Germany in the Army Security Agency and as a 1st Lieutenant from 1957-1963 in the inactive reserves.  He served from 1957-2005 as President of S.E. Trogdon & Sons, Inc. General Contractors, a family owned business that started in 1928.  Joe served on the Asheboro Planning Board from 1964-1973, the Asheboro City Council from 1973-1983, and was the Mayor of Asheboro from 1983-2001.  He was the former Chairman of the Piedmont Triad Council of Government, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina League of Municipalities.  He was a member of the Asheboro Jaycees, the Asheboro Kiwanis Club, and the East Hog-eye Yacht Club.  He was also a member of the Red Jacket Club. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Wachovia Bank & Trust and the Board of Trustees at First United Methodist Church.  In 1995, Joe was named “Citizen of the Year” by the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce.  On June 23, 2002 the new Asheboro Post Office was dedicated in his honor.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Siewers Trogdon Bennett and her husband Rodney of Asheboro; sons, William Joseph Trogdon, Jr. and his wife Laura and Taylor Peoples Trogdon, Sr. and his wife Denise all of Asheboro; grandchildren, William Joseph Trogdon, III and his wife Mallory of Charlotte, Katherine Anne Trogdon of Raleigh, Taylor Peoples Trogdon, Jr., Alexis Ellen Trogdon, Rodney Alan Bennett, Jr., and Elizabeth Angier Bennett all of Asheboro; Joe’s special friend Dillon Pollard of Asheboro; sisters, Wanda Trogdon Ilderton and her husband Clarence Ilderton, Sr. of High Point and Nina Trogdon Barone of Greensboro; sister-in-law, June Peoples Trageser and her husband Joe and their children, Susan Trageser and Paul Trageser and his wife Marci all of Pittsboro.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 6 - 8  p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro.

ARCHDALE — Harold “Wayne” Gray, 62, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his home.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Baptist Church Cemetery.

Richard Leon Wagoner
KERNERSVILLE — Richard Leon Wagoner, age 85 of Kernersville died Thursday, June 20, 2013. He was born December 17, 1927 to the late Richard Garfield and Ella Owens Wagoner.
After serving in the United States Marine Corps during WWII, Richard went on to retire from Swaim Originals Furniture.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Opal Branham Wagoner, four children Richard Edward Wagoner and wife Irene of Kernersville, NC, Gary Wayne Wagoner and wife Sherrie of Denton, NC, Randall Leon Wagoner and wife Linda of High Point, NC, Kenneth Lance Wagoner and wife Teresa of Kernersville, NC; sister Mary Alice Brown of High Point, NC; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandsons Charles Wayne Wagoner and Gary W. Wagoner, Jr., sister Martha Ann Cothan and brother Billy Reese Wagoner.
His funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, from the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, NC 27261. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Winston Salem.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Johnny Edward Dunlap 
GREENSBORO – Mr. Johnny Edward Dunlap, 58, formerly of High Point, NC passed on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital.  He was born on January 9, 1955 in High Point, NC the late John Davis and Ella Bee Dunlap. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Carolyn (Tiny) Dunlap, Linda Dunlap and Dianne Mitchell.
Johnny was educated in the High Point City Schools. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military policeman. Johnny was previously employed at High Point Regional Hospital and the Social Security Office in Greensboro, NC.  He was of Baptist Faith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Noreen Dunlap of Upper Marlboro, MD; one son, Nigel Dunlap of Silver Spring, MD; two daughters, Camille Dunlap of New York, NY and Kierra (Kiki) Simmons of Kannapolis, NC; three sisters, Gloria (James) Tillman, Rosa M. Dunlap and Shirley D. Dunlap all of High Point, NC; two brothers, Charles L. (Margaret) Dunlap of High Point, NC and Eddie D. Dunlap of Tubigen, Germany and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held today, June 22, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Ave.  Interment will be at National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.  The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Sarah Jean “Sally” Ridge
FINDLAY, OHIO — Sarah Jean “Sally” Ridge, 89, formerly of Findlay, Ohio passed away at 10:13 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013,  at Westchester Manor Nursing Center, High Point, N.C. She was born on November 1, 1923,  to the late Rowley Rainey and Eola (Gates) Ghaster in Findlay, Ohio. She married Robert Warren Ridge on April 18, 1947, who preceded her in death in 1989.
She is survived by three sons: Robert Gregory “Greg” (Sue) Ridge of High Point, N.C., Stephan Michael “Mike” (Rosalie) Ridge of White Lake, MI and Dennis James Ridge of Hamburg Township, MI; two daughters: Debra (Peter) Buis of Longwood, FL and Cheryl Ann Ogden of Orlando, FL; one brother, Richard Ghaster of Ft. Wayne, IN; two sisters: Margaret Hite of Findlay and Bette Ann “Ann” Atkinson of Pataskala, OH; six grandchildren: Matthew Ridge, Daniel Ridge, Benjamin Ridge, Andrew Buis, Michael Ogden and Sarah Ogden Brink and five great-grandchildren. Sarah served in SPARS, the United States Coast Guard Women’s Reserve. She wanted to serve her country and to experience an adventure. She served at Breakers Hotel, Palm Beach, FL, San Francisco and Oakland. After WWII, she returned to Findlay and met a handsome pilot named Robert Ridge. Sarah and Robert were married and together they were blessed with five children, six
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Sometime in the seventies, she came to know the Lord Jesus as her Savior. In 1983, she moved to
Pinehurst, N.C. where she built her home. She broke her hip in 2011 and became a resident of Westchester Manor Nursing Center in High Point, N.C.
The family wishes to acknowledge and is grateful for the loving care Sarah received while she was there, particularly the staff in the 300 hall.
She loved reading her Bible and gave generously to Christian charities.
Her hobbies included needlework and crafts.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1  p.m. on Monday, June 24,
2013, at  COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Mike Spann will officiate and burial will be
held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorial

Roland Jones Greer
HIGH POINT — Roland Jones Greer, Jr. 76 a resident of High Point, passed away, Thursday, June 20, 2013.
He was born October 11, 1936 in Guilford County, N.C. to the late Roland Jones Greer and Beulah Hubbard Greer and was a lifelong resident of this area.  He worked for the City of High Point’s Electric Department, and retired after 36 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Air Force, serving during the Vietnam conflict. Roland was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was of the Baptist faith.
On October 18, 1969, he was married to the former Pauline Sweatt of Bennettsville, S.C., she survives of the home.  Also surviving are his daughters; Mary Lynn Greer of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Elizabeth Burkhart and her husband Tommy and Bonnie Valentine and her husband Charles all of Trinity, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Roland’s life will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 11 a.m., from the graveside at Guilford Memorial Park with Pastor Keith Letterman officiating.  Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Lawrence A. Carter 
HIGH POINT – Mr. Lawrence Aaron Carter, 45, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Hospice Home at High Point after an extended illness. He was born on May 18, 1968, to Ms. Linda Faye Carter and was a lifelong resident of High Point. He attended the High Point City Public Schools and was former employee of W.A. Davis Milling Company in High Point.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Ms. Linda F. Carter of the home; three aunts, Brenda (Lorenzo) Smith, Sharon (Terry) Miller both of High Point, NC and Debra Carter of Greensboro, NC; two uncles, Otis (Shirley) Carter of Durham, NC and Marvin (Donna) Gash of Sophia, NC; one great aunt, Mrs. Betty Timberlake of High Point, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, June 23, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Ave.  The family will receive friends at the chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. and other times at 206 Moore Ave, High Point, N.C.
