Michael Haney

HIGH POINT — Mr. Michael Luther Haney, 77, of High Point, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at his residence.

Born January 29, 1937 in High Point, he was the son of the late Gilmer Duncan and Ruby Ann Corn Haney.  He was a loving, caring and giving husband, father and grandfather who cherished his family and loved our Lord Jesus Christ. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

On May 19, 1967, he married the former Evelyn Griffin, who survives of the home.  Also surviving are two daughters, Denise Crowson and husband, Anthony, of Archdale, and Angela Hasty and husband, Avery, of Hickory; four grandsons, Christian Crowson, Christopher Crowson, Matthew Hasty, and Caleb Hasty; and one sister, Ramona Hall, of High Point.

The family will have a private service at a later date.  Interment will be at the Salisbury National Cemetery.

Bobby Jackson

THOMASVILLE — Robert (Bobby) L. Jackson, 78, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Hospice Home at High Point.

Arrangements are pending with Thomasville Funeral Home.

 

Donald Jackson

TRINITY — Donald Ray Jackson, 60, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.

 

Marie Michael

LEXINGTON — Marie Ward Michael passed away, Monday, July 7, 2014, at her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Macedonia United Methodist Church. She will lie in state an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.

 

Sarah Pack

HIGH POINT - Sarah Elizabeth Pack, 59, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014.

Verna S. Peace 

HIGH POINT – Mrs. Verna Stewart Peace, 94, a former resident of 3930 Johnson St, died on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Genesis Triad Center.

A native of Guilford County, she was born on September 16, 1919, a daughter of the late John Jackson and Rebecca Skinner Stewart. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and a register nurse and worked at High Point Regional Hospital’s newborn nursery for several years.

On October 15, 1950 she married Dr. John William Peace, Jr. who preceded her in death on June 12, 1973.

Verna is survived by a son, Stewart Jackson Peace of High Point, and a niece, Mrs. Louise Clark Adams and husband Leon, Becky Hendrix Ayers, Linda Coverty and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by a son John William Peace, III, and her sisters, Jewel Bastian, Lillian Edwards, Velma Jones, Doris Clark, and Corrine Hendrix; brothers, JB Stewart, Wilbur Stewart and Frank Stewart

A service to celebrate the life of Verna will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the gravesite in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Jennifer Krushas officiating. The family will visit with family and friends following the service.

Frances Robinson

JAMESTOWN — Mrs. Frances Huggins Robinson, 95, of Jamestown died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Robinson was born in Williamsburg, S.C., a daughter of Dudley and Inez Parnell Huggins, and had lived in Jamestown for 70 years.  Mrs. Robinson was married to Thomas Jackson Robinson, who preceded her in death. 

She taught school for a number of years, was an artist, liked to decorate her house, loved her grandchildren, was strong in her faith, loved planting flowers, was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed preparing food for her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Tricia Seymour and husband John and Kathy Johnson and her husband Ted all of Jamestown; two sisters, Wanna McAnally of High Point and Della Martin of Eden; five grandchildren, Ted Johnson II,  Tom Johnson, Matt Johnson, Jennifer Helms, and John Seymour; and eleven great grandchildren

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at Jamestown United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Watford and Rev. Ashby Brown officiating.  Inurnment will be private in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
