Emogene Zimmerman Buerge
KERNERSVILLE — Mrs. Emogene Zimmerman Buerge, 79, passed from this life to her heavenly home on January 12, 2013, at the Hospice Home of High Point.  A native of Fulton County Ohio, she was born on May 15, 1933, to Arlen and Mildred Crossgrove Zimmerman.  She was graduated from Pettisville High School in Pettisville, Ohio and was a member of Green Street Baptist Church, and especially loved the Maynard – Buerge Sunday School Class.  Emogene has been in declining health for several years and especially the last two, spending much time in the hospitals.
On July 26, 1954, she married Harold Buerge who survives of the home.  They shared 58 years together enjoying involvement at the many churches they were members of, as they lived in a number of states.  They had much enjoyment as they traveled 49 of the 50 states.  They served one year in voluntary mission work in Arizona and Florida.
In addition to her husband, Harold Buerge, she is survived by one daughter, Lisa Bullins and husband Ronnie, two grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Bare of Winston-Salem, Allyssa Bullins of Kernersville and a very dear adopted granddaughter Ashley Littlefield.  Also surviving is a brother, Roger (Ethelyn) Zimmerman of Jackson Miss., two sisters Carolyn (Ralph) Metzler of Archbold, Ohio, and Marilyn (Morris) of Colorado Springs, Colo. 
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, with Reverends Frank Hensley, Mark Loy and Missionary Joel Angel officiating.  The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. 
Our thanks to the staff at High Point Regional Hospital for their great care in her many times spent there, especially Dr. Tarter for his compassionate care and guidance through some difficult decisions.  We also thank the staff of Green Street Baptist Church for their faithful times of visitation and encouragement for Emogene and Harold.

Ruth Marie Greene
GREENSBORO — Mrs. Ruth Marie Jones Greene, age 89, formerly of High Point passed away January 11, 2013, in Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
Mrs. Greene was born May 9, 1923, in High Point to John Thomas and Lula Patterson Jones.  She retired from Gilbarco Inc. in Greensboro in 1990 and was a member of First Wesleyan Church and the Mary Carson Bible Class of the Sunday School. Mrs. Greene enjoyed her time spent doing crafts and was considered by many to be the “Best Friend” they could ever have.  She was preceded in death by her husband Elmore C. Greene in 1985 and also by her sisters, Ailene Jones Stutts and Lena Jones Howard ;and her brother, William “Bunk” Jones, and her nephew Charles T. Howard.
Mrs. Greene lived the last years of her life with her lifelong friend, Linnie Murray Rush and husband Jim.  Her niece Pat Howard has always been close by and lending a helping hand in any way possible.
Mrs. Greene is survived by her sister: Myrtle Jones Snider of Climax.  She has a great niece, Rojeana Howard McDonald of Thomasville and two nephews; Clifford Jones of Florida and Alex Snider of Climax.
Funeral services for Mrs. Greene will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service on E. Lexington Avenue by the Reverend David Keith.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.   Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.

Frances Overcash Tobin Johnson
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Frances Overcash Tobin Johnson, a resident of Black Lake Road, went to be with Her Lord Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. She was born in Davidson County a daughter of Willie Lee Overcash and Kate Marie Collins Overcash and was a lifelong resident of Davidson County. She was a graduate of Fair Grove High School and Ashmore Business College She worked as an administrative assistant in vocational education for Fair Grove Elementary School and later for the Davidson County School system. Following her retirement she worked part time for Heidelberg United Church of Christ as a church secretary. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a former children’s Sunday school teacher, a church organist, a member of the choir, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. In 1950 she was married to Jack Linville Tobin who died September 9, 1956. On August 19, 1960, she was married to Robert Irvin (Bob) Johnson who died July 28, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Charles Tobin and by a brother, Joseph Clifford Overcash. Surviving are three sons, Jack L. Tobin, Jr., Robert Shane Johnson and wife Susan, and Eric Walter Johnson and his wife Kim, all of Thomasville; three sisters, Molly Embry and her husband Bud, Hazel Prevo and Pete Davis, and Willie Mae (Bill) Stone and her husband Jimmy Ray, all of Thomasville; a brother, Herman Overcash of Thomasville; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Dot) Overcash of Lexington. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Colby Tobin, Keaton Tobin and Kathryn Johnson, all of Thomasville and Matthew Johnson, Meredith Johnson, and Morgan Johnson, all of Olney, Md. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m.  at Bethel United Methodist Church in Thomasville by the Rev.Arthur Holland and the Rev. Bob Briggs. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. and other times at the home of a son, Robert Shane Johnson, 1343 Cedar Drive, Thomasville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethel United Methodist Church, 508 Fisher Ferry Street, Thomasville, NC 27360  or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. Ronald Grayson Sebastian
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Ronald (Ron) Grayson Sebastian, 66, a resident of Thomasville, N.C. died Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Thomasville Medical Center.  He was born on June 15, 1946, in Wilkes County to the late Carl Caswell Sebastian and Ruby Harrold Sebastian.  He was a member of Southgate Baptist Church, where he was once a deacon.  He graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1964 and ASU in Boone, N.C. with a master’s degree in math.  His career began as a math teacher at McDowell County Schools in Marion, N.C.  He also worked as an industrial engineer at Burlington Industries.  His last employment was working with his brother, Stephen Sebastian, a nationally known artist from High Point, N.C.
Surviving is his wife, Revonda Sebastian of the home, as well as, a daughter, Kristin Blocker of Thomasville and his son, Shane Sebastian of Lillington, N.C.; 3 grandchildren, Chelsea Blocker, Julia and Jenna Sebastian; brother, Stephen Sebastian of High Point; his mother, Ruby Sebastian of Granite Falls, N.C.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Southgate Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Butler officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the church.  Mr. Sebastian will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the visitation.  Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls, N.C.

Evangeline Hiatt Ussery
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Evangeline Hiatt Ussery, age 77, a resident of Westchester Village and a former resident of Kennedy Avenue, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital.
A native of Henry County, Va., she was born July 4, 1935, in Martinsville, a daughter of the late Mack M. and Sarah Ann Hundley Hiatt, however; Evangeline had lived in the Triad area most of her life and was of the Baptist faith. Statements from her children indicate that she was a loving mother devoted to the wellbeing of her children and family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her former husband, Farrell Gray Ussery; daughter, Lisa Tempkey; brother, Marshall Hiatt and two sisters, Josephine Walker and Virginia “Jenny” Perry.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Ussery Pittman and her husband Doug of Thomasville; two sons, Billy Ussery of High Point and Christopher “Chris” Ussery and his wife Towana of Archdale; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in English Road Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. James Summey officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.
