WINSTON-SALEM — Lester Ray Burnette, 79, of Winston-Salem died Jan. 10, 2013. at Forsyth Medical Center.

Grady Charles Darr
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Grady Charles Darr, 90, of Old Greensboro Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at Lexington Health Care Center. 
He was born on July 22, 1922 in Davidson County, NC to Charles Andrew Darr and Bessie Clinard Darr.  He retired from Belk’s Department Store as manager of the men’s department.  He was a US Army veteran having served during WWII.  He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, where he served on The Administrative Board and various other committees including Chairman of The Memorial Committee. He was a member of the Leon Bowers Sunday School Class, the Men’s Chorus and Joy Club and was past Sunday School Superintendent.  He loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.  Grady was always remembered for serving God and others. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Thelma Elizabeth Albright Darr on Sept. 16, 2011, whom he married on Aug. 3, 1947; brothers, Arthur, Roy, and Connie Darr; and grandson, Daniel Branson.
Surviving are three daughters, Janice Berrier and husband Dean, Patti Branson and husband Elliott, and Karen Livengood and husband Brad, all of Thomasville; eight grandchildren, Cheryl Varner (Sean), Brad Berrier (Melissa), Ryan Berrier, Nathan Branson, Kyle Branson, Paul Hibbett, III (Pam), Jenny Hibbett, and Seth Hibbett; four great-grandchildren, Sydney Varner, Peyton Berrier, Parker Berrier, and Kallie Branson; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Crady officiating.  Interment with military rites provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery.  Mr. Darr will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. 
The family will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 5-7 p.m. and other times at the home of his daughter, Janice, 765 Whitehart School Rd. Thomasville.  Memorials may be directed to Fairview United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2876 Old Greensboro Rd. Marjorie Francis Foster
HIGH POINT — Margie Foster passed gracefully into her Father’s arms on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.
Born and raised in Asheville, NC. Margie graduated Woodfin High School as Valedictorian, and received her Associates Degree in Business from Mars Hill College where she met her husband of 63 years Tom Foster.
Margie’s life centered on loving her Lord, her family, and all those that God brought into her life.  She treated everyone with a love and grace that made them feel like family, and she radiated a peacefulness that was felt by all. Contentment, gratefulness and grace are words that describe her well. She continued to be active: traveling, exercising, and participating in activities with her church and at River Landings where she lived.
She raised a wonderful family of 4 boys, Tom (& Beverly, Greensboro), David (& Mary, Raleigh), Jeff (& Judy, Greensboro), Chuck (& Tammy, Kernersville), and 1 daughter, Sharon Milligan (Hickory). She was very proud of her 9 grandchildren: Erin Foster, Katie Foster, Christine Foster, Jason Foster, Emily Harmon, Scott Foster, Brian Foster, Mikala Milligan, Ashley Milligan.
Her husband, John Thomas Foster, Sr, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held  2 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jill Auman officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall Saturday from noon until 2 p.m.

Thelma (Bradshaw) Jones
HIGH POINT — Thelma (Bradshaw) Jones, 91, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Gray Brier Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of the late James E. “Earlie” Jones.
Mrs. Jones was born on July 7, 1921, in Rockingham County a daughter of the late John A. and Mamie (Perdue) Bradshaw.  She was a former employee of The High Point Enterprise for 26 years and Adams Mills for 16 years.
In her spare time she enjoyed traveling to the Outer Banks, reading true crime novels, playing Scrabble, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Jones is survived by three sons, Roger Jones and his wife, Gayle of Jacksonville, FL, Jerry Warren Jones of Wallburg, and Larry Jones and his wife, Brenda of Trinity; two daughters, JoAnne Jones of High Point, and Dawn Tilley and her husband, Mike of High Point; 13 grandchildren, Angela, Amy, Steve, Jeff, Page, Julie, Robbie, Joybeth, Mica, Judy, Tracy, Joanie, and Greg; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Inez Sexton of Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernice Brown; a granddaughter, Jacqui Gonzalez; a great granddaughter, Katarina Gibson; three brothers, J.C. Bradshaw, Paul Bradshaw, William “Pete” Bradshaw; two sisters, Sarah Taylor and Elise Stiles.
A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Highland United Methodist Church, 1013 Mill Avenue with Rev. Jeffrey H. Sypole officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale.  The family requests that only close friends, church friends, and neighbors attend the visitation and service.
A special thank you to her caregiver, Christian Malachi, her granddaughter, Amy Dukes, and niece Brenda Wood for the loving care and support you gave Mrs. Jones and her family during this difficult time.

Hazel Leonard
LEXINGTON — Mrs. Hazel Stamey Hoover Leonard, 84, a resident of Carolina House and formerly of Highway 47, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the nursing home.
She was born in Burke County, July 31, 1928 a daughter of George Stamey and Laura Baker Stamey and had been a resident of Davidson County most of her life. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church and had retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries, Plant L. After her retirement she served as a volunteer with Meals On Wheels. On July 10, 1948 she was married to Willie Lee Hoover who died Dec. 17, 1997.
In 2001 she was married to James Leonard who also preceded her in death. Surviving is a daughter, Donna Snyder and her husband Rick of Thomasville; two sons, Raymond Hoover and his wife Kathy of Thomasville and Joel Hoover and his wife Lisa of Denton; two grandchildren, Brad Hoover and his wife Brandy and Joey Hoover and his wife Tina. Also surviving are four step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville by the Rev. Mark Sink. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. Matthew Adam May
JAMESTOWN — Matthew Adam May, 37, of Jamestown passed away Thursday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Born Feb. 24, 1975, in Huntington, West Virginia, he is a son of Mr. and Mrs.  Michael May of Jamestown.  He loved the beach his family and music.
In addition to his parents Adam is survived by a sister Amy May Kirkland and her husband Paul of High Point and two very special nieces Tilley and Ada Kirkland.
On Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Adam’s brother-n-law and sister, Paul and Amy Kirkland will be hosting family and friends to toast his life at their home.
A service to celebrate the life of Adam May will be held 3 p.m. Sunday in the Life Tribute Center at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point.
After a brave battle with cancer the family is appreciative of the staff of the ICU and Cancer Center at High Point Regional Hospital and the staff of the ICU at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Dewey Yarborough
HIGH POINT — Robert Dewey Yarborough, Sr., of High Point, went to heaven on Jan. 10, 2013, at age 88. 
He joins his beloved wife, Syble Miller Yarborough; parents, Harold W. and Beulah B. Yarbrough; sister, Betty Lou Solustri; brother, Randall “Bud” Yarbrough and his wife Imogene; son-in-law, Charles Riley; and granddaughter, Bonnie Lee Rominger.
He is survived by his sister, Norma Varner, and brother, Alpheus Yarbrough and wife Maxine; daughter Jennie Rominger and husband Duane; daughter Mary Riley; son Buck Yarborough and wife Joy; seven grandchildren and spouses; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Yarborough served in the Pacific theater of operations during World War II in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Alderamin.  He retired from service as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service.
A member of Westchester Baptist Church, he faithfully served the congregation as deacon and training union teacher.
Funeral services for Mr. Yarborough will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Westchester Baptist Church with the Reverend Eric Peacock officiating.  Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.
