LEXINGTON — Hugh Clifford Beck, 81, of Arvil Hunt Road, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, and other times at the home.
LEXINGTON — Joshua Lee Beeker, 40, of Glendale Road, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Health - Lexington Medical Center. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Jersey Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service and other times at the home of his grandparents on Glendale Road.

HIGH POINT — Eugene Leroy Black Jr., age 86, died Thursday, May 1, at Starmount Golden Living Center in Greensboro . A funeral service, with military rites, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Sechrest Chapel in High Point. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

LEXINGTON — Archie Clifford Cothren, 71, passed Wednesday morning, April 30, 2014, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Union Grove Baptist Church. RALEIGH — Mrs. Doris Rebecca Trotter Hiatt, 85, a resident of Sunrise of Raleigh, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Sunrise of Raleigh. She was born on March 26, 1929, in Davidson County, to Dallas Tillet Trotter and Effie Louise Younts Trotter. She retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries as a personnel manager and was a member of Emanuel Reformed Church and a former member of Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Prevett Hiatt on January 20, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Hiatt Welde and husband, Eric, of Raleigh; son, Dale Hiatt of Thomasville; brother, Alvah Lee “Bud” Trotter of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Chelsea Jensen and fiancé, Ryan Hunter, of Poquoson, Va., Ian Hiatt of Boulder, Colo., and Taylor Hiatt of Advance.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Emanuel Reformed Church with Pastor Rickey Payne officiating. Interment will follow in Thomasville City Cemetery. Mrs. Hiatt will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. LEXINGTON — Thomas Wilson Russell, 89, of Lexington died Sunday April 27, 2014. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Grace Episcopal Church Chapel. Piedmont Funeral Home is serving the Russell family.

THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Lucille Moss Wilhite, 95, departed this life on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington. She was born on June 30, 1918, in Newberry, S.C., to the late Russell Moss and Rosanna Sanders Moss.
She moved to Thomasville at an early age and attended the public school. She was a member of Brown New Calvary Baptist Church and the NAACP. She was united in marriage to Dewitt Wilhite, and to this marriage, one son, Henry Gordon Wilhite, was born.
Affectionately called “Little Man” by her family and close friends, Mrs. Wilhite was a devoted matriarch who loved her family and friends, and always greeted everyone with humor, leaving them with laughter, helping those in need whenever and wherever she could.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Emmanuel Wilhite, Alicia Wilhite Rutherford, Lightfoot Wilhite and David Wilhite all of Calif.; several nieces and nephews, among them who were her caregivers: Ricky (Pearl) Moss, Ophelia Moss and Sylvia Snuggs all of Thomasville and Kevin (Pamela) Gibson of High Point. Memorial services are incomplete and will be announced by S. E. Thomas Funeral & Cremation Service.
TRINITY — Mrs. Phyllis Bullins Wray, age 79, a resident of Trinity, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. She was born on September 21, 1934, in Rockingham County, to the late Davis Bullins and Lucy Manuel Bullins and had lived in the Trinity area most of her life. She worked for Silver Knit Hosiery for 40 years and later for Hamrick’s in Lexington for 8 years. Phyllis was of the Baptist faith.
She enjoyed planting flowers and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Alson Wray; a sister, Elsie Stanley and her brother, Otis Bullins.
She is survived by her children, Debra Honeycutt of High Point and Steve Wray of Trinity; her granddaughter, Heather Fagan and her husband, Mike, of Thomasville; and her step-great-grandson, Caleb Fagan. Also surviving are her sister, Mary Ruth Wilkins of Madison and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Phyllis’ life will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Roger Carmichael officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville. The family will receive friends on Sunday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
