KERNERSVILLE — Velma R. Cope, 79, died February 26, 2014. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday March 1, 2014, at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Templon officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Gur Cemetery. A native of Moore County, she was the daughter of the late Gladys Emerson and Noah Alton Richardson. She was an RN, served as Head of Pediatrics, working for a number of years with High Point Regional Hospital and also private Doctors’ Practices. Velma was a great diagnostician, caring, nurturing, as she truly loved her profession. She was a beautiful mother, wife and companion.
In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Parks and brothers Robert and Donald Richardson. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years Bill Cope of the home; daughters Andrea Cope Templon and Chris of Madison, N.C., and Erica York Cope of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son William Brent Cope of Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren Harmony Templon and Valerie Templon; sisters Florene Williams and Marvin of Eagle Springs, N.C. and Brenda McNulty of Fayetteville. The family will have a reception immediately following the Interment. They will visit at The Jefferson House beside Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home. THOMASVILLE — Gregory Devinci Craddock, 56, died Sunday, February 23, 2014, in O’Berry Center in Goldsboro, N.C. A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, in S. E. Thomas Funeral Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday thirty minutes berfore the service and other times at the home of his brother Albert (Van) and Inell Craddock, 2500 Bellemeade Street, Apt 1D, High Point, N.C.
WALLBURG — Mrs. Ruth Patterson Yokeley Curry, 83, of Ward Rd. went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, February 27, 2014. Ruth was born October 4, 1930, in Davidson County a daughter of the late John Andrew Yokeley and Mittie Jones Yokeley. She was a member of Wallburg Baptist Church and was an excellent homemaker and excellent cook. She was married February 24, 1951, to Bryce Hunter Curry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in by four brothers. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Bryce H. Curry of the home; one son, Mark Stephen Curry and wife Allison of Wallburg; two granddaughters, Michelle Ashton Curry and Lauren Elizabeth Curry.
Funeral services for Mrs. Curry will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Wallburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Cantrell and Rev. Max Evington officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Curry will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home “Wallburg” 10301 N. N.C. Highway 109, Winston-Salem, until placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. HIGH POINT — Mrs. Betty Jean (Billings) Daugherty, 64, of High Point, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late Ronnie Daugherty. Mrs. Daugherty was born on July 30, 1949, in Surry County a daughter of the late Robert V. and Gracie Lee (Casey) Billings. She was a loving mother and caregiver, spending most of her time taking care of her family and “adopted” grandsons. She also enjoyed cooking and watching her favorite TV programs.
Mrs. Daugherty is survived by a son, Richard Allen Billings of High Point; a brother, Charlie Billings and his wife, Judy of High Point; three sisters, Barbara Threatt and husband, Jamie of Lexington, Wanda Southern of Thomasville and Brenda Billings of Thomasville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Billings.
A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Sunny Side Baptist Church, 3100 Wilma Ave, High Point, with Rev. Hoyt Mason officiating. SILVER SPRING, MD — Nicole Sade’ Enoch, 27, of Burlington, N.C. died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in Silver Spring, Md. She was born on November 14, 1986. Nicole was a 2005 graduate of Cummings High School and a 2009 graduate of Campbell University. She was employed as a Paralegal pursuing a career as a lawyer. WILMINGTON — Bernice Davis Frazier, beloved mother and grandmother, joined her Savior in Heaven on February 24, 2014, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington. She was born in Randolph County, the daughter of Bertha and Urb Davis. She was 94 years young. Bernice was known for her youthful spirit, boundless energy and love for her family. She provided a loving Christian home for her family and we will be eternally grateful for this. She retired from Silver Knit Hosiery in 1983 and was a member of High Point Friends Meeting. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James D. Frazier, Sr., son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Brenda Frazier, brothers and sisters, Horace (Vera) Davis, Kyle Davis, Grace (Chester) Coltrane, Gilmer Davis, Golda (Kermit) Reynolds, and Bill (Bonnie) Davis.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Ronald) Wright of Wilmington, granddaughters Lori Frazier (Greg) Meister of Wichita, Kan., Heather Cooper (Brian) Hetzell of Wilmington, grandson David (Lynn) Frazier of Charlotte, six great-grandchildren and the seventh due in July. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. A funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday March 1st in Cumby Chapel on Eastchester Drive followed by interment in Floral Garden Memorial Park. HENDERSONVILLE — John Jay Frezell, 66, formerly of Misty Waters Lane, Jamestown, currently of Hendersonville, passed away, after a brief illness, on February 26, 2014, at Elizabeth House in Arden, N.C. John was born on November 9, 1947, in Biloxi, Mississippi, son to Wilfred John Frezell and Frankie Mignon Manown. John was a Veteran of the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam where he earned the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars and the Purple Heart. He received an Honorable Discharge. John served as Manager of the Town of Jamestown for 26 years. He was the second Manager of the Town since its incorporation in 1947.
John led with enthusiasm and a profound determination to provide the best for Jamestown and its citizens. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, Jay Frezell. John married the love of his life, Debbie Phillips on May 30, 2000. John is survived by his wife, Debbie and his canine companion and faithful friend Callie, of the home. John is survived by his brother, Thomas L. Frezell and wife Linda, of Dothan, Alabama and a sister, Susan Frezell Oetgen, of Savannah, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 3906 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, N.C.
