Ladine Michael Beck
LEXINGTON — Ladine Michael Beck, 88, of Michael Road, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Alston Brook Nursing Home. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Tyro United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home.
William Lewis Broadie
HIGH POINT — Mr. William Lewis Broadie, 62, of High Point died Friday, June 7, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, High Point. Professional arrangements entrusted to People’s Funeral Services, High Point, NC.
S. Scott Brown
HIGH POINT — S. Scott Brown, 57, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Scott was born on October 26, 1955, in Fort Knox, KY, a son of Ralph F. “Buddy” Brown, Jr. and Peggy Brown Moore. He was a 1974 graduate of T. Wingate Andrews High School and attended UNC Charlotte.
He was a hardworking and dedicated independent home furnishing representative, working for 38 years with Riverside Furniture Corp., 19 years with Catnapper, 14 years with Jackson Furniture Industries, and 13 years with Cramco, Inc.
He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. He was also a member of IHFRA, VCHFR, USTA, Porsche Club of America and Ferrari Club of America.
As a child he was a Junior Roller Skating Champion. Presently, in his spare time, he enjoyed being out in nature and taking part in outdoor activities such as, waterskiing, snow skiing and golf. Scott was an avid sports fan, but his true passion was for tennis.
In addition to his parents, Scott is survived by a son, Jordan Ryan Brown and his fiancé, Jessica Lynn Mullins of High Point; a daughter, Natalie Scott Brown and her fiancé, Beau Christopher Weiss of Raleigh; a sister, Amber Brown Hayes of High Point; a nephew, Tanner Brown Hayes of Raleigh; his true love and significant other, Mrs. Chris White Amos of High Point; step-mother, Glenda Aiken Brown of High Point; step-father, David O. Moore, Sr. of High Point; and several friends.
A celebration of life service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Al Ward and Pastor Jonathan Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point.

Ruth Black Hunt
STONEY CREEK — Mrs. Ruth Black Hunt, age 85, of Woolwine Court, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at Ashton Place.
A native of New Hanover County, she was the wife of the late Joseph Wilson Hunt and daughter of the late Harrison Eli and Julia Myrtle Black Black. She was a member of Heidelburg United Church of Christ in Thomasville and a volunteer with Cooperative Community Ministry.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ann Hunt Smith and husband Donald J. Smith and Kay Hunt Eddinger and husband Jeff Eddinger of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Kathryn Smith Coiro and husband John, Jennifer Brackett and husband Jeramy and Amanda Collett and husband John; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn and Kenan Brackett.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Thomasville by Rev. Paul Rhodes.
The family would like to thank Carlene Nixon and Hospice of Alamance-Caswell for the special care and support given their mother during her illness.

Clarence Cecil Jarrell
HIGH POINT — Clarence Cecil Jarrell, age 74, of High Point, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at his residence. He was born October 25, 1938, to the late Henry and Pearlie Murphy Jarrell in Asheboro, NC.
He was the type of person who loved the outdoors. He loved to sit on the front porch, work in the yard on lawn mowers, small engines as well as spending time with his wife and K9 companion.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Laura Russell of the home; four children Tim Jarrell, Patty Jarrell, Angela Koentz and Melissa Hinson; three sisters; one brother and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be offered 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, from the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, High Point, NC 27261.

Nellie Myers Morris
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Nellie Myers Morris, 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior at Thomasville Medical Center late on Monday, June 10, 2013, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Morris was born August 30, 1925, in Davidson County, NC, one of three children born to the late Henry Bradley Myers and Monnie Lou (Kirk) Myers. Mrs Morris was retired from Reagan Hosiery Mill, Thomasville, NC. Mrs. Morris was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and the Ladies Bible Class and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She attended church services with her loving and devoted sister, Margaret Edwards. Mrs. Morris was married to the late Marvin Lee Morris for 48 years and had one daughter, Elaine. Mrs. Morris was known for her beautiful sewing, needle work, and crochet baby afghans. She loved to prepare delicious meals for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Don) Beusse; two grandchildren, Jeff (Bonnie) Beusse and Shannon (Tim) Davis, and four great grandchildren, Thomas and Andrew Beusse of Bethesda, Maryland; Madison and Tyler Davis of Huntersville, NC. In addition to her daughter and family she is survived by her sister and companion, Margaret Edwards; step-sister Martha Ann Crickmore; and two step-brothers, Bradford (Linda) Myers and Dale (Becky) Myers. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her brother Williard Myers and step-sisters Joyce Myers and Brenda Moore.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville with family visitation from 9:45 – 10:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Holly Hill Cemetery, Thomasville, NC, immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, you may honor Nell Morris’ memory through memorials to Mt. Catharine Lyle Smith
HIGH POINT — Catharine Lyle Smith, 101, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at River Landing at Sandy Ridge with her family by her side. She was born in Edgemoor, South Carolina, to the late Lafayette Strait Lyle and Frances Catharine Robinson. Catharine attended Winthrop College. She married William Henry Smith in 1939, and he passed away in 1967. Before moving to the Presbyterian Home and then River Landing, she lived in Thomasville, NC, and was very active in First Presbyterian Church there.
Catharine is survived by two sons, William Henry Smith and wife May of Clermont, Georgia, and Lafayette Lyle Smith and wife Monte of High Point. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are by Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point.

J. Huston Williams
HIGH POINT — Mr. J. Huston Williams, 73, known as “Yogi” to family and close friends, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 16, 2013.
He was born in Lilesville, NC, to Rosetta Williams and Kenzell Spencer. J. Huston attended Anson County public schools and later relocated to High Point where he was employed as a truck driver for Piedmont Chemical Industries until his retirement. He joined Friendship Missionary Baptist and later joined Bessie Chapel. J. Huston was united in marriage to his former wife, Annette Charles, and from that union were four children. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing and watching sports with dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charlie Williams and Kenzell Spencer II; his son-in-law, William James Green Jr.
He leaves behind to cherish his precious memories three sons, Jasper Williams of Thomasville, NC, Anthony Houston of High Point and Jay Huston Jr. of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Sharon Green of High Point and Cynthia Williams of Atlanta, GA; five brothers, Kenneth (Brenda) Williams of Greensboro, NC; Ike ((Joyce) Spencer of Baltimore, MD, Alexander (Thelma) Spencer of New Rochelle, NY; Lester Jr. (Kim) Rorie of High Point and Herman (Jennifer) Rorie of High Point; one sister, Laurie Ann (Bravid) Harris of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Cindy Williams of High Point; god-sister, Marian Talley; a very dear friend, Carolyn Taylor; eight grandchildren, one uncle and three aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Cornerstone HealthCare, High Point Regional and Westwood Health & Rehab Center.
Homegoing celebration will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 715 W. Willis Ave. Family visitation will begin at 1:30-2:00 p.m. at the church.
