HIGH POINT — Virginia Carrie Blomquist, 92, died March 31,2013 in the Adams Farm Rehab and Health Center in Jamestown. Arrangements for a memorial service and burial in New Jersey will be announced at a later date. Sechrest Funeral Service is assisting the family locally.
Mildred Winslow Giles
HIGH POINT — Mildred Winslow Giles, 94, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at Westchester Manor.
Mildred was born in Guilford County on March 16, 1919 to Mamie Ellington Winslow and Thomas Winslow. Mildred married Ray Giles on August 6, 1938 and they were married for 62 years.
Mildred worked for the War Department during World War II. She was a member of the Archdale United Methodist Church, and the adult fellowship class. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and a former member of the Archdale – Trinity Home Extension Club.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Ray, 3 brothers; Bill, Ray and Sam Winslow. Surviving is her daughter Phyllis Jarvis and husband Frank of Trinity; and a son Randy Giles and wife Beverly of Archdale. Also surviving are her grandsons Chris Jarvis, Terry Giles and wife Summer, Michael Allen and wife Michele and great grandson Griffyn Giles.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 Wednesday, April 3 at the Archdale United Methodist Church with the service following at 2pm. Burial will be held at Springfield Friends Cemetery following the service.

Virginia “Jenny” Brown Hall
HIGH POINT — Virginia “Jenny” Brown Hall, 86, a resident of Triad Care and Rehab, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Virginia was born in High Point, July 9, 1926, to Claude and Jesse Brown. Her parents died when she was young and she was raised by her grandmother, Isabelle Allred. She graduated from High Point High School and Jones Business College and spent her career as a bookkeeper for Wilson & Co., Domestic Relations Court, and Dallas Furniture. Later, she worked part-time for the YMCA until her retirement. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her sisters, Julia Brown, Shirley Brown, and brother Claude “Buck” Brown.
Virginia is survived by her son, Mike hall and wife Vickie of High Point, grandchildren, Shelly Hall of Greensboro, Robbie Hall and wife Brittany of High Point, Mandy Cochran and husband Drew of Winston Salem, and great-grandchild Zoey Cochran. She is also survived by her sister Frances McCurdy, special great niece Lindy McCurdy and many other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11 a.m., at Oakwood Cemetery by the Chaplain Craig Walker.
The family would like to thank the staff at Triad Care and Rehab, and the Hospice of the Piedmont for their loving care of “Mrs. Virginia”.

HIGH POINT- Mr. Terry Lee Harrington, 37, passed on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. He was born on August 13, 1975 to the late Hubert Braddy and Stancie Mae Williams Fuller.
Terry graduated from High Point Central High School, where he played football as a running back and safety, and he later attended Guilford Technical Community College.
He was a very fun and loving person who enjoyed spending time with his great nieces and nephews. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing video games. Terry will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories; four sisters, Barbara (Keith) Wingard, Tasha Southerland, Tisha Southerland all of High Point, NC and Sarah Leak of Wallace, SC; four brothers, Robert Harrington, Kenny Terry, Damien McCormick all of High Point, NC and Freddie Harrington of Wallace, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel, 1810 Brockett Ave, High Point, NC. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Barbara Anne Barker Harris
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Barbara Anne Barker Harris, 75, resident of High Point, was called home to be with our Lord and King Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Harris was born Feb. 13th, 1938, in Durham, NC, a daughter to the late Walter and Evelyn Franks Barker. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a member of Hasty Baptist Church in Thomasville and was owner of Barbara Harris Childcare for 13 years. She also loved to fish and read her bible. On March 5th, 1970 she married Lawrence Harris who survives of the residence. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Tami Sue Harris.
Also surviving are three sons, Darrell Buck of Winston-Salem, Larry Buck of High Point and Russell Buck of Brown Summitt; two sisters, Arenda Spoon and Dorothy Lowe both of High Point; one brother, Bill Barker of High Point; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Pam Saunders. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many who will be missed and remembered by all the lives she touched.
A celebration of her life with family and close friends will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery with Dr. Scott Heffner officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Memorials may be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln. Winston-Salem NC 27103. LEXINGTON — Curtis Edwin Leonard, 80, of Locust Drive, died March 30, 2013, at his home.

Roger Dale Mitchell
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Roger Dale Mitchell, 64, a resident of 453 Hasty Hill Rd., died Monday, April 01, 2013 at his home. He was born on September 3, 1948 in Moneta, VA to the late John Edmond Mitchell and the late Sadie Jane Martin Mitchell. He worked for 30 years for Guilford Packaging and for the last 10 years at Hendrix Batting Company.
On Aug. 19, 1967, he married Joyce Drewery, who survives of the home; also surviving is his daughter, Tammi Mitchell of Thomasville; son, Troy Mitchell and wife Sandra of Thomasville; brothers, James Mitchell and wife Joyce of Bedford, VA and Danny Mitchell and wife Melanie of Hardy, VA; sister, Sue Martin of Moneta, VA; and grandchildren, Savannah Shelton and Austin Shelton.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. David M. Albertson officiating. Mr. Mitchell will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the cemetery 30 minutes prior to the graveside service. No formal visitation will be held. HIGH POINT — Mrs. Paulina Benitez Moss, 91, a resident of Skeet Club Manor, died March 30, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital.
She was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Vieques Island, Puerto Rico to the late Hosea Luis Benitez and Delores Cayere Benitez. In 1946, she married the late Aria Stanton Moss, and relocated to the High Point area shortly thereafter. Mrs. Moss worked for Royals Incorporated and NC Garment Manufacturing Company, and retired after many years of faithful service. Also, as a member of Christ Community Church, where she was actively involved in Sunday school as long as she was able, Mrs. Moss was a past member of women’s circle #3. She was a frequent volunteer for translation services to the Hispanic community.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moss is preceded in death by her brothers; Carlos Benitez and Hosea Benitez and her sisters; Juana B. Scott and Patria Benitez.
Surviving are her son; Stanton Moss of Kernersville, and her daughters; Beverly Baylor and Judy Mabe of High Point, and Brenda Esselman and husband Dennis of Mooresville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Paulina’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Christ Community Church, High Point, with Pastor Bill Hare officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery in High Point, NC. Bobbi Jean Pruitt
LEXINGTON — Bobbi Jean Pruitt, age 54 of Copperfield Lane, Lexington, passed away Sunday afternoon at her home, surrounded by her family.
A celebration of her life will be held 7 p.m. Thursday evening at First United Methodist Church in Lexington where she was a member, conducted by Rev. Bob Weatherly. There will be no public visitation.
Bobbi Jean was born in Henry County, VA, to the late English Thomas Martin and Fleda Lorrine Jessup Martin. She was a Teachers Assistant with Randolph County Schools, working at Hopewell Elementary. The American Children’s Home was dear to her and she contributed to them as often as possible. She enjoyed walking, arts, crafts and decorating.
Bobbi Jean is survived by her husband, Terry A. Pruitt; son, Bradford Thomas Pruitt; sister, Marilynne Bishop (Richard); and nephew, Ryan Martin.

Mable Esther Hedgecock Stewart
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Mabel Esther Hedgecock Stewart, 97, a resident of Westwood Health Center in Archdale, formerly of Thomasville, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the nursing center.
She was born Jan. 16, 1916, in Davidson County, a daughter of Luther Hedgecock and Lola Everhart Hedgecock.
She was married to Rev. Inman Stewart, who preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Stewart was also preceded in death by two daughters, Martha Moxley and Carol Everhart.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Vivian S. Matthews of Thomasville and Norma S. Solomon and husband Tony of Reidsville; Eight Grandchildren and Ten Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Lyle Milligan, Director of Music Ministry, First Baptist Church of Reidsville, N.C. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

John R. Welch Sr.
HIGH POINT — John R. Welch, Sr., 74, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 30, 2013.
John was born in High Point, May 8, 1938, a son of the late Joseph Grayson Welch and Mildred Cross Welch. A resident of High Point his entire life, he retired as a dispatcher from the High Point Fire Department after 32 years of service. He was an avid golfer and prankster.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Ruth Ann Burrow Welch of the home; daughter, Kathy L. Duncan of High Point; a son, John R. Welch, Jr. and Jennifer Perry of Lexington; sister, Melba Potts of Trinity; a grandson, Mark Hedrick and wife Mandy of Thomasville; two granddaughters, Shanna Brooke Welch and Taylor Raye Duncan, both of High Point; three great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Foursquare Gospel Church by the Rev. Terry Austin.
