Eileen Cameron
HIGH POINT — Eileen Cameron passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.


Teresa H. Gill 
HIGH POINT – Mrs. Teresa F. Harris Gill, 41, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. She was born on April 1,
1971, in High Point, NC, to Rosa and Dewey Harris, Sr. She was the oldest daughter of seven children.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Martha V. Morris and Mary E. Wall; and several aunts and uncles.
She graduated from Ragsdale High School and furthered her education as an Elementary School Teacher at Kirkman Park. She went to Oklahoma to become a minister, and became a dedicated Woman of God, which made her a warrior. She then went to school to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree as a Special Education Teacher and returned to teach at Northern Middle School. She was attending Guilford College to become a lawyer.
Despite her illness that pushed her to help others, she lived and breathed through her two boys. She was a daughter, mother and sister.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her parents, Dewey and Rosa Harris, Sr.; two sons, Jonathan H. and Julian Gill; two sisters, Bethanie (Antonie) Watson, Shanda R. Harris, all of High Point, NC; four brothers, Dewey Harris Jr., Tony Harris, Ravon Harris, all of High Point, NC; and Brian (Sabrina) Harris of Greensboro, NC; one god sister, Tiffany Cobb and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Church Alive of The Triad, 235 Burgess Rd, Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc., High Point, NC.

Cleo Byerly Grubb
THOMASVILLE — Cleo Byerly Grubb, 79, of Thomasville, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC.
Cleo was born April 24, 1933, in Davidson County to the late Andrew Hoover and Nelia Hill Byerly. She was a resident of Davidson County all her life. She had retired from Carolina Underwear Company. Cleo was a dear sweet and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.
Mrs. Grubb was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Grubb; parents and several brothers and sisters.
Cleo is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Grubb; son, Michael Grubb and wife Judy; daughter, Tuwana Grove and husband Len; sisters, Lilly Pearl Carriker and Ida Ree Clodfelter; 5 grandchildren, David Grubb and wife Sue, Renee Cook and husband Adam, Sherri Deaton, Cindy Tysinger and husband Charlie, Michelle Miller and boyfriend Marshall King; and 9 great-grandchildren, Owen Grubb, Olivia Grubb, Isabella Cook, Skyler Cook, McKayla Deaton, Brianna Tysinger, Dillon Tysinger, Logan King, Autumn King.
There will be a 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service Thursday, March 28, 2013, in Holly Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Billy Joe Yates officiating.  Audio and written condolences can be made through www.thomasvillefh.com.

HIGH POINT– Mrs. Martha W. Haywood, 90, passed on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time at Phillips Funeral Service, Inc., High Point, NC.

 

Franklin Norris
WINSTON-SALEM — Franklin Norris,79, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013.  Cremation services entrusted to Triad Cremation Society & Chapel.


Mike Smith
ARCHDALE — Mr. James Michael (Mike) Smith, 66, resident of Archdale, went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Smith was born August 21, 1946, in Forsyth County, a son of the late William Edgar and Mary Ruth Nance Smith. He was a resident of this area most of his life and had worked 22 years at Drexel Heritage.  His wife, Virginia Smith, preceded him in death in 1999. In addition to his parents and wife he also was preceded by two brothers, Frank and Luther Smith; and one sister, Polly Smith.
Surviving is one brother, Bill Smith and wife Pearl of Archdale; one sister, Carol Corns of Winston-Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Carl Pulliam officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bales Memorial Wesleyan Church, 1000 Bales Chapel Rd. Tim Strickland
DENTON — Timothy Daniel (Tim) Strickland, age 36, of Summerville Church Rd., was found dead Saturday, March 23.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel..  Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
The family will see friends from 12:00 to 2:00PM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence on Summerville Church Road.

 

Earl Stubbs
DENTON — Mr. Earl McLean Stubbs, Jr., age 73, of Denton, died Tuesday, March 26, at Thomasville Medical Center.
Funeral service for Mr. Stubbs will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, at Hillside Park Baptist Church in Thomasville with Dr. Steven Chipps officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Denton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night at Hillside Park Baptist Church on Holly Grove Road in Thomasville and other times at the home in Greenbrier, Denton.
Mr. Stubbs was born March 1, 1940, in Hoke County to Earl McLean Stubbs, Sr. and Maylan Huggins Stubbs. He was a 1958 graduate of Farmer High School and was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Hillside Park Baptist Church where he was a member of the Brotherhood, sang in the choir, was a faithful worker on the Buildings and Grounds Committee and went on many mission trips. He was also involved in the community, helping folks outside of the church. He had worked as a railroad engineer for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad for more than 31 years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence “Tippy” Stubbs.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Garner Stubbs of the home; one daughter, Anna Stubbs Lewis and husband Roger of Sophia, and one granddaughter, Amber Nicole Lewis.

Betty Segers Woods
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Betty Segers Woods, 80, a lifelong resident of Thomasville, died Monday evening, March 25, 2013. She was born May 15, 1932, in Davidson County, a daughter of the late Howard Segers and Lessie Byerly Segers.
She was a member of Pine Woods United Methodist Church and served as cafeteria manager for Thomasville Senior High School for more than  30 years. Betty was recognized as Citizen of the Year in the Civitan Club and was very active in the community including participating in the Garden Club. She loved performing arts and as a member of the Chair City Player’s Club, she was Aunt Eller in the show Oklahoma.
Surviving are her husband of over 60 years, Herman (Buddy) Woods; two sons; Herman (Butch) Woods III and wife Amy of Lexington and Joey Woods and wife Robin of Kernersville; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Amanda Cassetta, Amber Tuggle, Cydney Woods, Kelsey Woods and Jared Woods; step-grandchildren, Zachary Pendergrass and Mason Pendergrass; great-grandchild, Selah Cassetta; a sister, JoAnn Segers Young of Bentonville, AK.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. in J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville with Rev. Keith Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service.
