Barbara “Ann” Alford
POLKTON — Barbara “Ann” Alford, 71, of Polkton, NC, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at home.
Her family will receive friends on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 4 until 5 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel. Services in celebration of Ann’s life will begin at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Private interment will be held at Forest Lawn East Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life dinner for family and friends immediately following the service in the Reception Hall at the funeral home.
Ann was born on April 16, 1941, in Thomasville, NC, daughter of the late J.H. Alford and Katherine James Alford. Ann had a long career with Forest Lawn East Cemetery and Heritage Funeral Homes as an accountant. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, co-worker and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her beloved children, Gregory Lee McGee of Polkton, Loretta M. Saunders and husband Chuck of Pleasant Garden, NC. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Krystal and Kim Saunders both of Pleasant Garden, NC; and brother, Donald R. Alford and wife Peggy of Thomasville, NC.

ASHEBORO — Jeffery Martin Brown, 51, of Asheboro, died March 16, 2013.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel.
John Stephen Bumgarner
WINSTON-SALEM — Mr. John Stephen Bumgarner, 69, a resident of Winston-Salem, died Thursday evening, March 14, 2013, in the Hospice Home at High Point.
He was born March 2, 1944, in Forsyth County, a son of the late John Sidny Bumgarner and Ruth Dry Bumgarner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed by the U.S. Government, Department of Veteran Affairs.
Mr. Bumgarner was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Welcome.
He was married to Beverly Friday Bumgarner who preceded him in death Oct. 18, 2011.
Surviving are a daughter, Ashley Bumgarner-Darr and husband Dale of High Point; a grandson, Zachary Ryan Darr; a sister, Jill Heaton and husband Randy of Raleigh; a his faithful canine companion “Taka”.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Welcome with Rev. Dr. John Beeg and Vicar Richard Goeres officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

ASHEBORO — John Alvin McDowell, 95, of Asheboro, died March 15, 2013.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Union Community Church.
TRINITY — Paul Leach Maness, 81, of Trinity, died March 16, 2013, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Mary Catherine Skinkle
JAMESTOWN — Mary Catherine Skinkle, 74, died Friday, March 15, 2013, after a short battle with colon cancer.
She was married to the late LeRoy William Skinkle and was blessed to be surrounded by her children the last week of her life. Surviving are her children; Kenneth L. Skinkle, his wife Rasamee and grandchildren, Angelina and Sean from Greensboro, NC; daughter Nancy L. Skinkle from Washington, D.C.; son Major Michael J. Skinkle USMC, wife Audra and grandchildren, Eleanor, Ryan and Jack from Spotsylvania, VA; son Christopher A. Skinkle, his wife Alessandra and grandchildren Emma and Thomas from Charlotte, NC and brother, William Haley, his wife Cherie and nephews, Brian and Jeff from Rochester, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 18th, 2 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4145 Johnson Street in High Point, NC. Father Thomas Norris, OSFS will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. till service time at the church. Entombment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
