Margaret McKinney Arnold
HIGH POINT — Margaret McKinney Arnold, 93, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012, at Westchester Manor. She was born in Guilford County to the late Frank and Minnie Wood McKinney. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Joesph Arnold; sisters, Rachel Sykes, Doris Ruppert, Irene Pruitt, and Mozelle Howard; brothers, Earl, Carl and Junius McKinney. She is survived by her sister Juanita Mckinney, Colleen Parrish and several nieces and nephews. She worked for more than 25 years in sales at Eckerd Drugs and was a member of First Baptist Church in High Point. The family would like to thank Annie and Carl Kitching, and the staff of Westchester Manor for the exceptional care as Margaret approached the end of her life. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in High Point. There will be a visitation at the church one hour before the service. Raymond Howard Bayne
ATLANTA — Mr. Raymond Howard Bayne, 88, a resident of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at his residence. He was born July 6, 1924, in Alamance County, a son of the late Raymond Gorman Bayne and Thelma Leona Sykes Bayne. He served proudly in the Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and had worked as a salesman in various industries. On April 25, 1943, he was married to Miss Jewell Hilton, who died July 12, 2012. Surviving are two daughters, Connie B. Little and husband Tom of Roswell, GA, and Melanie B. Hall of South Riding, VA; a sister, Patsy Whaley of Pawleys Island, SC; two brothers, Robert Bayne of Dalton, GA, and Jimmy Bayne and his wife Pat of High Point; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A cryptside service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum in Thomasville with the Rev. Michael Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. Charlotte Anderson Clark
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Charlotte Anderson Clark, 88, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, KY, after a lengthy illness. Born on July 26, 1924, in Wilson, NC, to the late Dorothy Mae Pillsbury and James Banks Anderson, Charlotte lived most of her life in High Point and Jamestown, NC, before moving to Kentucky to be near her daughter. She attended St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, NC, and in 1945 married the love of her life, George P. Clark Jr., also of Wilson upon his graduation from Duke University. She worked in the Duke University Sports Information Department, the High Point office of New England Mutual Life Insurance Co., and later in life at the Jamestown Methodist Church.
Charlotte enjoyed music and sang for many years in the choir of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in High Point. She served on the board of the High Point Community Concert Association, often helping entertain visiting artists. She was an active member of the High Point Regional Hospital Guild and served several terms on the board of Fellowship Hall in Greensboro, NC. Most of all, though, Charlotte was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, an effervescent hostess, a wonderful cook and a caring friend. She loved reading, chocolate and the Duke Blue Devils.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Priscilla C. Tillett (Robert, Jr.) of Louisville, KY, George P. Clark, III (Dorothy) of Durham, NC, and Kenneth G. Clark, of Charleston, SC; sisters, Isabel M. Pennell, of Mesa, AZ, and Lalla Kay Griffin, of Jamestown, NC; four grandchildren, Arden Clark Mills (Adam) and Patrick Clark of Durham, NC, Kathryn Tillett and James Tillett (Tracy) of Louisville, KY; and four great-grandchildren, Jack and Luke Mills of Durham, NC, and Harper and Anderson Tillett of Louisville, KY.
Charlotte’s family would like to thank the caring staff of the Episcopal Church Home as well as her compassionate caretakers from HOSPARUS for their many kindnesses to her.
A Memorial Celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, in St. Luke’s Chapel at the Episcopal Church Home. Please enter from Lyndon Lane. Private burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson, NC, at a later date.

Nerva Catherine Collins Gorbett
JAMESTOWN – Nerva Catherine Collins Gorbett, 98, passed away December 17, 2012, following several months of declining health. She was born to the late John Pleas and Mary Elizabeth Collins on February 10, 1914, in Cleveland, TN. Nerva was a proud member of Prospect Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Azalea Garden Club, which gave her many years of joy. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jacen Everett Gorbett, and their son, Jacen David Gorbett; sisters, Mabel McCarter, Meta Burger and Doris Stinnett; brothers, Robert Collins, Herman Collins and John P. (Pete) Collins, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barry and Nancy Hamilton of Jamestown, NC; two grandchildren and their spouses, David and Jill Hamilton of Jamestown, NC, and Ron and Jamie Stoffel of High Point, NC; great-grandchildren, Jacen David Hamilton Jr., Hamilton Stoffel, Joshua Hamilton, Cole Stoffel, Mary Olivia Hamilton, Bethany Hamilton and Will Stoffel. Nerva is also survived by a sister, Ruth Davis and a brother, Joe Collins and wife, Juliah; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Collins and Faye Collins, all of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with her nephews serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove ceremony.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the funeral home.

ASHEBORO — Mrs. Pauline Talbert Wiseman Reaves, 81, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Frances Crawford Russell, 83, a resident of Thomasville, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. This was her favorite time of the year, the Christmas season.
She was born December 21, 1928, in Warren County, Kentucky, a daughter of Herschel Crawford and Pearline Pirtle Crawford. She was a retired employee with Thomasville Furniture Industries, with 28 years of service. Mrs. Russell was a 15-year volunteer with Thomasville Meals on Wheels. She was a member of West End United Methodist Church, served as past president of the United Methodist Women, was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, Sonshine Folks and had served on various committees of the church.
On June 2, 1945, she was married to Robert Russell, who died in 1998. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Crawford and son-in-law, Roland Pennington.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Brenda Pennington, Mrs. Sharron Darr and husband Steve and Deborah Houston and husband Delbert, all of Thomasville; a son, Ronald Wayne Russell and wife Mary Ann of Asbury, West Virginia; sisters, Ms. Jean Gore of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Mrs. Jonell Chandler and Ms. Esther McKinney, both of Franklin, Kentucky; twelve Grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. in West End United Methodist Church, with Rev. Myra Ward Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Russell will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at her home.

ARCHDALE — Darrell Eugene Sugg, 73, of Archdale, has completed his task of planting seeds for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. “I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” – II Timothy 4:7. Darrell took his heavenly flight Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Darrell was born on June 10, 1939, in High Point to the late Clifford and Kathleen Sugg. He had been a resident of the High Point/Archdale area all of his life. He retired from being a truck driver after 30 years from Chemcentral (Univar) in Jamestown. Darrell was a member of Allendale Baptist Church and a member of the Old Timers Racing Club. He had a special place in his heart for children. He never met a stranger and especially enjoyed chatting over coffee. Darrell’s most precious times were those spent with his family.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gayle Sugg; four daughters, Sherry and Jerome McPherson, Jamie Lawson and Mickey Callahan, Joan and Jeff Jacobs and Sabrina and Ronnie Fisher; eight grandchildren, Shannon and Jeremy Walters, Kyle and Kim McPherson, Barbara and Sam Reynolds, Arron and Stacy McPherson, Brandon Sprouse, Adam Lawson and Felecia Henson, Chase Fisher and Luke Fisher; and seven great-grandchildren, Kali, Issac, Logan, Maci, Serenity, Gavin and Addison. In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara (Hicks) Sugg.
Family visitation will be Friday, December 21, 2012, at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale from 6-8 p.m. Rev. David Younger will be conducting the funeral on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Allendale Baptist Church on Springfield Road in High Point. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kyle, Arron, Brandon, Adam, Chase, Jeremy and honorary pallbearer, Luke. Burial will be held in Floral Garden Park Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends other times at the home, 4909 Country Court in Archdale.
