WELCOME – Betty Rose Everhart Cecil, 82, of Welcome, died Dec. 17, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Welcome.
HIGH POINT – Susan Faye Belote Fuller, age 67, a resident of High Point, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012
She was born on March 16, 1945 in Norfolk, VA to the late Harry Lee Belote and Louise Whitley Belote. She was a homemaker and a member of Landmark Baptist Church. She enjoyed drawing, painting, singing hymns and she loved her Lord.
She is survived by her sister; JoAnne Sheppard and her husband Ron of Keller, Texas.
A service to celebrate Susan’s life will be held Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Guilford Memorial Park, with Reverend Amos Mashburn officiating. Joyce Johnson Gibbons
HIGH POINT – Mrs. Joyce Johnson Gibbons, 92, entered into her eternal home in the early hours of Dec. 17, 2012, to be reunited with her beloved husband and daughter.
She loved her Lord and tried to live her life to please him as best as she could. She was born in Surry County on Nov. 16, 1920, to the late James A. Johnson and Luria Chandler Johnson.
She was a stay-at-home Mom until her daughters were grown up and then worked in the hosiery industry until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Mitchell River Primitive Baptist Church in Dobson, NC.
On May 16, 1936, she married the love of her life, Dillard Oliver Gibbons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Elder Dillard Gibbons Feb. 3, 2002, and her daughter, Juanita Gibbons Barber April 6, 2012; two brothers, Gilbert A. Johnson and Claude O. Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanie Sams Shaw and her husband Thad of Archdale; Four grandchildren; Vicky Sams Johnson and husband James of Archdale, NC; Steven (Sonny) Sams and wife Lynn of Jamestown, NC; Michelle Barber Burhenn and husband Lee of Randleman NC; Kristal Barber Granger and husband Thomas of Topeka, Kansas; Step-Grandaughter Linda Shaw of High Point, NC., Step-grandson Thomas Shaw of Clayton NC. nine great-grand children and three great great grandchildren; Two brothers, Alton Johnson and wife Joetta of Kernersville, NC, and Dewey Johnson and wife Nancy of Archdale, NC; Sister-in law Ruth Johnson of High Point, NC.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel on E. Lexington Avenue in High Point by Elder Steven Nichols, Elder Wayne Gibbons, and Reverend Donnie Oates. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.

James Henry Jeffries III
GREENSBORO – James Henry Jeffries III, 78, died on Dec. 18, 2012, at his home in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mr. Jeffries was a United States Marine Corps Korean War veteran and graduate of the University of Kentucky and the University of Kentucky, School of Law. Mr. Jeffries was a former prosecutor for the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and a retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Following retirement from the Justice Department, Mr. Jeffries engaged in the private practice of law in Greensboro.
Mr. Jeffries was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth Anne Jeffries and is survived by his brother Conrad A. Conrad of Scottsdale, Arizona, his daughter Anne Jeffries Reardon, his sons, James Henry Jeffries IV and John Harlan Jeffries, and his daughters-in-law Sonya Renee Lowe and Valerie Hall Jeffries. He was also the beloved “Paw Paw” of nine grandchildren: Lauren Anne Jeffries, Erin Elizabeth Jeffries, James Henry Jeffries V, Austin Matthew Jeffries, Tara Jean Jeffries, Daniel Boyd Jeffries, Kathryn Chelsea Reardon, John Augustus Reardon, and Rebecca Anne Reardon, all of Greensboro, North Carolina. He was the Pater Familias.

Armeda “French” Olson
HIGH POINT – Armeda (French) Olson, 78, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Westchester Harbour Home. She was the loving wife of David F. Olson to whom she was married to for 54 years.
Mrs. Olson was born on July 28, 1934 in Chicago, a daughter of the late Miles Ogle and Rolene (Elliott) French. She was a graduate of Illinois State University, earning her degree in Elementary Education, which she used to teach at Kenwood Elementary School in Champaign, IL for 16 years. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Olson is survived by two sons, Kevin W. Olson and his wife, Yong Hui, of Del Mar, CA, and Keith A. Olson and his wife, Mika, of Pacific Palisades, CA; a daughter, Melanie D. DeGroot and her husband, Allen of Downingtown, PA; 3 granddaughters; a grandson; a brother, Elliott French and his wife, Doris, of Edwardsville, IL; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Miles Ogle French, Jr.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, at Salisbury National Cemetery with Rev. Frank Hensley officiating.

Larry Scott Sr.
LEXINGTON – Larry Dennis Scott, Sr. 67, of North Highway 150, died Saturday Dec. 15, 2012, at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at, Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Max Shoaf and the Rev. Randy Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park, with military rites, provided by the Davidson County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Piedmont Funeral Home.
Larry was born in Davidson County on June 11, 1945 to the late Henry Ed Scott and Bessie Marie Wilson Scott. He was a retired production associate with Kimberly Clark, a US Army Veteran, where he served in the Vietnam War. He served with the Lexington Police Department for two years. He was a graduate of Guilford College, with a degree in criminal justice. He also attended Davidson County Community College. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Travis Lemon Scott, brothers, Henry Ed Scott, Jr. and Eugene Scott.
Surviving are; his wife of 39 years, and a great relationship, Donese Byerly Scott of the home; sons, Marcus Scott of Greensboro; Larry Dennis Scott,Jr. and wife Anita of Lexington; Corey Edison Scott of Minneapolis, Minnesota; daughter, Meredith Bess Scott of Lexington; brothers, Eddie Scott and wife Martha of Grand Rapids Michigan; Charlie Lee Scott and wife Lisa of Asheville; eight grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. LINWOOD – Charley Frank Young Jr., 80, of Old Pasture Road, died Dec. 17, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Churchland Baptist Church.
LEXINGTON – Brenda Sue Scates Wilkey, 38, of Red Barn Road, died Dec. 16, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church.
LEXINGTON - Scott Milton Price, age 53, of Joe Cecil Road, Lexington died Saturday at his home. Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
