LEXINGTON — Marion Eugene “Gene” Duckworth, 64, of Lexington, died Sept. 20, 2013.

LEXINGTON — Doris Essick Hedrick, 78, of Lexington, died Sept. 19, 2013.

Edith Shepherd Kinney
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Edith Shepherd Kinney, 84, formerly of W. Holly Hill Rd, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Hospice Home at High Point.
She was born on June 4, 1929 in Davidson County to Joel Harrison Shepherd and Rosa Welton Riddle Shepherd.
She retired from Kayby Mills and was a member of Carolina Memorial Baptist Church, where she was active in the landscaping of the special memorial garden, the Ladies #2 Sunday School class, and taught the children for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Arnetta Younts.
On March 10, 1951, she married Herman Jackson Kinney, who survives of Thomasville; also surviving are nieces, Nancy Ridge and husband Phillip of Stokesdale, Brenda Slaydon and husband George of Trinity, and Kathy Jarrett and husband Jack, Jr. of Trinity; nephews, Michael Bean and wife Rose of Sandy Ridge, and Phillip Younts and wife Laura of Branford, FL; sister-in-law, Hilda Byerly of Thomasville; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Bynum Orr and Rev. Tim Landreth officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Kinney will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and at other times at the home of Hilda Byerly, Johnsontown Rd. Thomasville.

Carol Faye Holmes
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Carol Faye Byler Holmes, 69, a resident of Tarrant Trace Circle, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Ashton Place Health & Rehabilitation.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1944, in Davidson County, NC to Henry Ivan Byler and Inez Bylery Johnson. She was a homemaker/bookkeeper and a member of First Baptist Church in Thomasville. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved flowers and history. She was preceded in death by her father.
Surviving are her husband, James Cleveland “Jim” Holmes, III of the home; son, Jay Holmes and wife Kelly of Charleston, SC; daughter, Susan Morris and husband Danny of Gibsonville, NC; mother, Inez Bylery Johnson of Silva, NC; sisters, Janice of Thomasville, Linda of Silva, Rhonda of Thomasville, and Kaye of Thomasville; 4 grandchildren, Will Holmes, James Holmes, Jenny Morris, and Mandi Morris.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Mel Anderson officiating. No formal visitation will be held. Teresa Love Mabe
RANDLEMAN – Teresa Love Mabe, age 55, of Randleman, died Wednesday, Sept. 18th, the result of injuries sustained in a vehicle crash Wednesday evening, near her home.
Teresa was born May 20th, 1958, in High Point, a daughter to Sue Eller Love and the late Wade Madison Love. She was a 1976 graduate of Trinity High School, was a member of New Covenant Lutheran Church in Archdale. She had been a resident of Randleman for several years. Known for her love of people; Teresa had been a care giver to several families in this area. As hobbies, she enjoyed cooking (catering) and working with crafts. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Mabe in 1997; her son, Jason Mabe; a brother, Gaylon Love and an uncle, Phillip Hugh Eller.
Teresa is survived by her mother of Archdale; one step-daughter, Gina Mabe McDowell of High Point; three aunts, Hilda Eller Hess of Lincolnton, Rebecca Lee Eller of Charleston, South Carolina and Jeanette Starnes Eller of Mt. Holly; one uncle, Lester Wayne Eller and his wife Delores of Faith and two grandchildren, Alex Mabe and Aislynn McDowell.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with the Reverend Jeff Hoffner officiating. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, immediately following the service. Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Singing Tower Mausoleum at Randolph Memorial Park Cemetery in Asheboro.
