HIGH POINT — Dorothy Boone, 43, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at High Point Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Phillips Funeral Service Inc.
LEXINGTON — Cora Hunt Coe, 67, of Michael Alley, Lexington,died Wednesday at Hinkle Hospice House.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the House of Hope. Visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday at the home of her daughter, Anita Cartrette, 423 Elwin Circle, Lexington.
Grant Louis Deal
Grant Louis Deal, “Buddy Kennedy,” passed away on Monday, Jan. 6. 2014.
He was born Jan. 11, 1952, to Hazel and Ronald Kennedy.
He grew up in the High Point area. He formerly was of 627 Spring Garden Circle, and in later years lived at Woodruff Road in Kernersville.
He is of the Christian faith. Quoted, from him,: “I’m looking forward to being with Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven.”
He graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1971. He joined the Army 1972 and received an honorable discharge in 1978. He worked at Hatteras Yacht for a number of years. He loved Duke basketball and Coach K, Dale Earnhardt No. 3 when racing was racing, driving to High Rock and spending time at White Lake, where the water is clean and clear. He loved his family and friends dearly.
He is survived by his brother, Rick Kennedy of Trinity; his sister, Diane Meier (Walter) of Cedar Square; his sister, Tammy Grimes (Bobby) of Kernersville; nieces and nephews, Jason Meier, David Grimes, Robbie Grimes and Sara Grimes.
Family would like all family and friends to join us for a celebration of his life and his birthday on Saturday, Jan. 11, at the VFW in Archdale, 2-4 p.m.

LEXINGTON — Mary Frances Gobble Dillon, 78, of Wind Chime Court, Lexington died Wednesday Jan. 8, 2014, at Hinkle Hospice House.
Funeral will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, and burial will be at The Salisbury National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Marshall Edwards
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Elizabeth Marshall Edwards, 93, was reunited with her husband, Forrest E.
Edwards Sr., Jan. 8, 2014, at Hospice Home of High Point.
Mrs. Edwards was born in 1920, and she was a lifelong resident of High Point. She was the
daughter of the late Wells and Clara Abernathy Marshall and a member of Emerywood
Surviving are one brother, Robert “Bob” Marshall and wife Jenny of High Point; three sons,
Forrest E. Edwards Jr. of Greensboro, Marshall Lee Edwards and wife Connie Browne
of High Point and Robert Gregg Edwards and wife Ginger of High Point. Also surviving
are four granddaughters and grandson: Mollie Edwards of Greensboro, Katy Brown of
Tampa, Fla., Reagan McIntyre of Greensboro, Madison Edwards and Tyler Edwards
of High Point.
Mrs. Edwards was married to Forrest E. Edwards Sr. July 19, 1941. They were happily
married for 68 years. She was a homemaker and worked part time for many years at the
International Furniture Market and High Point Auto Auction.
She was known for her sense of humor and had a smile that could light up a room.
The family would like to thank the personnel of Westchester Harbour, High Point Regional Hospital and
Hospice Home of High Point for their loving care.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Emerywood Baptist
Church by the Rev. Bob Ferguson. Sechrest Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Spencer Hall
CHARLOTTE — Martha Spencer Hall, formerly of Jamestown, 90, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Preston House Assisted Living Center in Charlotte following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 1, 1924, to the late Paul R. Spencer and Eva Fuller Spencer in High Point, N.C. She was married for 58 years to her loving husband, Harold E. Hall, and worked alongside him in managing Hall Oil Company in Jamestown, N.C. Martha was well-known in her beloved Jamestown for her beautiful roses and flower gardens. She was active in the Jamestown Garden Club and in many civic activities with long-time friends and neighbors, and in retirement she became an avid golfer. Martha was a devoted to her dogs, who brought much laughter and enjoyment. For many years, she was a faithful member of the Austin P. Fortney Sunday School Class at Jamestown United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Wilkerson of Asheboro, Ramah Carle of Charlotte and Joanne Snapp of Columbus, Ohio; her sister, Jeanne Lee of High Point; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m. before the service. The Rev. Nancy Rankin will be officiating. Interment will be at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Austin P. Fortney Sunday School Class at Jamestown United Methodist Church, 403 E. Main St., Jamestown, N.C. 27282.

DENTON — James Clinton Hedrick, 73, of Denton died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist - Lexington Medical Center.

Hunter Wayne Hockett
THOMASVILLE — Hunter Wayne Hockett, 11 months old, went home with the heavenly angels on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014. He was born on Feb. 1, 2013, in Davidson County to Eric Wayne Hockett and Mindy Miller Burgess. Hunter touched so many lives in such a short period of time and spread joy to everyone who had the pleasure of being around him. He was a precious angel and blessing to his family for 11 months and continues to stay in their hearts. God needed another angel. Hunter was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Steven G. Miller Sr. and Janice Gayle Miller.
He is survived by his loving parents, Eric Hockett and Mindy Burgess of the home. Also surviving are his paternal grandparents, Exie Vee Hocket, Robert Hockett and fiancée Peggy Griggs, all of Thomasville. Hunter also leaves behind uncles, Steven G. Miller Jr. and Corey Wayne Hockett; and a cousin, Steven G. Miller III. Hunter was loved by all, and there are too many friends and family to list.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at J. C. Kenneth “Ken” Clayton Lambeth
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Kenneth “Ken” Clayton Lambeth, 60, a resident of Fuller Mill Road North, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at his home. He was born on Aug. 27, 1953, in Davidson County, N.C., to the late Dalton Clayton Lambeth and the late Barbara Ann Nichols Lambeth. He worked for W.E. Linthicum/Unicon and most recently with KP Concrete. He was a U.S. National Guardsman.
On July 2, 1988, he married Janet Lee Parker, who survives of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Lindsey Drennan and husband Chris of Thomasville; brother, Terry Lambeth and wife Sharon of Kure Beach, N.C.; grandson, Nicholas Drennan; aunts, Nancy Parker of Archdale and Ruth Osbourne of Wilmington, N.C.; and nephew, Chad Lambeth and wife Penny of Thomasville.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at noon at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Terry Boles officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home. James T. Miller
HIGH POINT — Mr. James Tyrone Miller, 52, better known to his friends as “Jimmy Jam,” departed this earthly life on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Randolph Hospital. He was born on Dec. 27, 1961, to the late Ernest and Rena Mae Miller. He was also preceded in death by one son, Derrick Williams; one sister, Tewanda Lynn Miller and one granddaughter, Ajia Williams.
Those left to cherish his memories are two daughters, Ebony Williams of High Point, N.C., and Jamiss Smith of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, James Miller Jr. of High Point, N.C.; two grandchildren, Meyaka Williams and Michael Barr II both of High Point, N.C.; three sisters, Patricia (Pastor L.J.) Tisdale, Gloria (James) McLean and Linda Miller, all of High Point, N.C.; three brothers, Levander (Stephanie) Miller, Henderson Miller, both of High Point, N.C., and Willie (May Helen) Dockery of Charlotte, N.C.; one special family friend, Angela Wright; one special friend, Amy Debty of Archdale, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Friendship Holiness Church, 820 Leonard Ave. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1 p.m. and other times at 1905 Franklin Ave.

June Elizabeth “Betty” Palmer
STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Mrs. Betty Palmer, 94, formerly of Thomasville, N.C., died on Jan. 7, 2014, at Park Springs, an assisted living facility in Stone Mountain, Ga., where she was a resident for the past six years.
She was born Nov. 5, 1919, in Lenoir, N.C., daughter of Junius Edgar Shell and Winifred Henry Shell. She was the wife of the late R. Glenn Palmer, who died April 21, 1995. Betty and Glenn were married Sept. 11, 1939, and lived together in western North Carolina before relocating to Thomasville in 1972. She was a homemaker and an active member of Memorial United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir for many years. Her favorite pastimes included music, sewing, knitting, playing bridge and spending time with her family at the beach.
She is survived by her two children, Janet Palmer Kennedy of Atlanta, Ga., and Robert G. Palmer Jr., of Brevard, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in the chapel of Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph St., with the Rev. Ivan Peden and the Rev. Peggy A. Finch, of Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

E.L. Young Jr.
GREENSBORO — Mr. E.L. Young Jr., 85, a resident of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at George Brothers Funeral Service.
E.L. was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Guilford County to the late Elmer Lawrence Young Sr. and Beulah Griffin Young. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was retired from North State Chevrolet after 47 years of service.
Survivors include his daughter, Renee Wrenn (Thomas) of Jamestown; half brother Earl Young of Raleigh; granddaughter, Lisa Young of Greensboro; sister Sheila Dwiggins of Greensboro; four great-grandchildren; two nephews.
E.L. was married to Dorothy Southern of High Point for over 50 years, during which time they spent many good times at Myrtle Beach with family and good friends.
Per Mr. Young’s request, he has donated his body to Duke University Hospital for anatomical research.
