EAGLE SPRINGS — Doris Zachary Mabe, 88, of Skill Rd., Eagle Springs, died Friday in Raleigh. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23 at Eagle Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

HIGH POINT — Mr. Donald Ray Duncan, age 54, a resident of West Ward Ave. died Thursday Dec. 19, 2013 at his residence.

GREENSBORO — Mrs. Alison Perkins Wood, 36, died Friday night. Her service arrangements are incomplete and Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Funeral Home is assisting the family.
William David Betenbaugh Jr.
HIGH POINT — William David Betenbaugh Jr., 86, passed away at his home on Dec. 15, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born in High Point to the late William David Betenbaugh Sr. and Mamie Foster. William was an upholster for the Ashley Manor Company for over 20 years. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Memorial services will be on Dec. 23, 1 p.m. at St. Michaels Lutheran Church, 100 Skeet Club Road, High Point , followed by inurnment with full military honors at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point. There will be a visitation with family at the church from 12 noon till 1 p.m.
Donation may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive High Point or St. Michaels Lutheran Church.

Cathy Beck Sanders
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Cathy Beck Sanders, 63, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at her home.
A resident of this area all of her life, Cathy was born on May 25, 1950 in Thomasville to Lloyd C. Beck and Dorothy Lovett Beck. Cathy was of the Baptist Faith and an avid reader. She was the loving wife of Robert Sanders and especially enjoyed taking trips to the beach. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Beck.
Surviving is her husband, Robert Sanders of the home; daughter, Crystal Smith of Thomasville; sons, James Robert Sanders, Jr. of Thomasville and Justin David Sanders and his wife Sabrina of Thomasville; grandchildren, Adam Michael Sanders, Allyssa Danielle Lemonds, Jayme Nicole Sanders, Kourtney Anne Sanders and Brent Michael Sanders. Also surviving is her father, Lloyd C. Beck and step-mother Mary Beck of Thomasville; sister, Brenda Byrd and her husband Sammy of Thomasville; and brothers, L. C. Beck, Jr., and Robert David Beck, both of Thomasville.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, Thomasville and other times at Cathy and Robert’s home.

Mary Clark Denny Cole
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Mary Clark Denny Cole died peacefully in her sleep Saturday in the Hospice Home of High Point. She was born Dec. 16, 1920 in Wrens, Ga. A daughter of James William and Pearl Scoggins Denny.
A long time resident of High Point, she was active in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she served on the official board, the Pastor Parish Committee, the Wedding Committee, was hostess of the Deeper Roots Television Program, co-president of the United Methodist Women and coordinator of the Junior High Department.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, co-founder and president of the High Point Literary League, member of the Crimestoppers Board, delivered Mobile Meals, taught bridge at the YWCA and was a member of the mid-week Study Club and High Point Country Club. Mrs. Cole was a graduate of Erskine College in South Carolina.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, homemaker, and served as presidents of various PTAs.
Mrs. Cole was pre deceased by her husband of 47 years, David William Cole, and three brothers; Willis Parish Denny, James William Denny Jr. and John Scoggins Denny.
Mrs. Cole is survived by sons; David William Cole Jr. of Ahoskie, N.C. and James Franklin Cole and wife Carol Beebe Cole of High Point, daughters; Carol Cole Best and husband Kenneth James Best of Portland, Tenn. Clark Cole Branch and husband Timothy Dale Branch of Marietta, Ga. Grandsons; David Parker Branch and William Cole Branch of Marietta, Ga. William Jackson Cole of High Point and granddaughter; Claire Thompson Cole of High Point.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. J. Alexander Ward Jr. and Rev. Jared Stine. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Asbury Room of Wesley Memorial Un tied Methodist Church. The body will remain the Cumby Family Service on Eastchester Dr.

Paul H. Hill
TRINITY — Paul H. Hill, 70, of Trinity, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013.
Paul was born March 1, 1943, in Virginia to the late Evert Hill and Nellie Mullins Hill. He worked for many years as a band saw operator in the furniture industry, lastly for Pilot View Woodworks. His job carried over into his hobby, woodworking, and he also enjoyed working on and painting cars. Paul also enjoyed going to flea markets. On May 29, 1964, Paul married the love of his life, Glenda Turner Hill. In addition to his mother and father, he is predeceased by brother, Robert J.C. Hill.
Paul is survived by his wife, of the home; daughters, Jennifer Blackwell and husband J.D. of Linwood, and Kimberly Hill of the home; sister, Lorene Holbrook and husband Arthur of Virginia; brother, Havery Hill and wife Rosie of Trinity; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Phillip Wayne Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Betty Jane Williford
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Betty Jane Williford was called Home to be with The Lord on Dec. 21, 2013.
Betty Jane was born Feb. 16, 1938 in Chalybeate Springs, N.C., the daughter of Tyson and Florine Matthews. She retired from Wesleyan Arms Nursing Center in 1998 after 18 years of service as a licensed practical nurse. Her hobbies were her vegetable garden, her flowers, and being on the flower committee at Conrad Memorial Baptist Church. Her joy in life was reading her Bible, her family and friends, cooking and talking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Matthews; a brother-in-law, Phil Powell and a sister-in-law, Irene Matthews.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Sam D. Williford; sons, Frank Williford (Donna), Ken Williford (April), Dan Williford (Jane) and James Williford (Carol); grandchildren, Matthew Williford, Christian Williford, Dillon Williford, Casey Williford, Kendall Williford and Aydan Williford; step grandchildren, Anthony Jones and William Jones; brother, Tommy Matthews; sisters, JoAnn Dewan, Frances Powell (Shirlowe) and Larue Powell (Dewey); sister-in-law, Hazel Matthews; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at Conrad Memorial Baptist Church, 1920 N. Centennial St. High Point, N.C. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Marcus Campbell and Rev. Bob Hiatt officiating. Entombment will follow at Floral Garden Park Mausoleum in High Point, N.C. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. HIGH POINT — Mrs. Linda Jones Cox, age 66, a resident of High Point, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013.
She was born on June 13, 1947 to the late Dewitt Clinton Jones and Rachel Kate Haynes and had been a resident of the High Point area most of her life. She was employed as a Nursing Assistant in Home Health as long as her heath permitted. She enjoyed bowling, listening to and Gospel music, especially the Gaither’s. Linda was a loving and caring person and she would always put everyone else’s needs before hers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a friend to many. In addition to her parents preceding her in death was her sister; Maggie Moize.
Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Ron Cox of the home, her children; Timmy Burns and his wife Sandra of Greensboro, Angela Pierce and her husband Rusty of Thomasville, and John Burns, Jr., of West Virginia, her siblings; Louise Jones of Dublin, Va., Joyce Stratton and her husband Gene, Ronnie Jones and his wife Pam, and Gail Cole, Peggy Springer and her husband David all of Trinity. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Crystal Burns, Seth Roland, Ashton Pierce, Natalie Roland, and Bryson Pierce, her great-grandchildren; Lilly Roland and Eli Pierce.
A service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Pastor Rawley Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
