William W. Blanchard
LEXINGTON — William “Billy” Wesley Blanchard, 60, of Twelve Oaks Drive, Linwood passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013, at High Point Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013, at the funeral home.

Nancy Brown
TROY — Nancy Kearns Brown, age 91, of Troy died Monday, December 23, 2013 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Nancy was born July 13, 1922 at Ramseur, NC, the daughter of Robert Ivey and Enola Wooley Kearns, Sr. Nancy was a homemaker and a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church for many years where she served as a teacher in the children’s department. She loved needle point, line dancing and playing basketball.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers: William Harrison Kearns, Maxton Charles Kearns, Robert Kearns, James H Kearns and sister: Sara Talbert.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years: Jack Brown, Sr. of the home; sons: Jackie Brown and wife, Patsy of Mt. Gilead, Tommy Brown of Whispering Pines; one daughter: Trudy B East of Biscoe; three grandchildren: Chris Brown, Amy Honeycutt and Jennifer East; four great-grandchildren: Aaron Byrd, Josh Byrd, Austin James and Abby James; two great-great grandchildren: Emily Byrd and Ethan Byrd; one sister: Ruth K Leach of Greenville, SC and one brother: Don Kearns and wife, Carolyn, of High Point, and sister-in-law, Juanita Kearns, of Asheboro.
The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell Street, Troy with the Reverend Dr. Bryan Faggart officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, South Main St., Troy.

LEXINGTON — Juanita Johnson Burkhart, 80, of Hammond Road, died Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Thomasville Medical Center. A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Johnsontown United Methodist Church Cemetery. Frank Dillingham
HIGH POINT – Frank S. Dillingham, 76, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. He was born on August 9, 1937, to the late Tom and Florence Dillingham.
Frank was self-employed his entire life. He was a hardworking husband, adored father, and loving grandfather, always going the extra mile to ensure everyone around him was taken care of. His great smile and friendly demeanor made others feel very safe and at ease in his company. He was a fighter to the end, always putting the well being of others before his own. He knew every moment was precious and relished his time spent with his family.
He was married to the love of his life, Judy A. Dillingham for 51 years. Those left to cherish him and celebrate his life include: his wife, Judy Dillingham, daughter Amy, son Josh and his wife Alisa, and their children Aaron, Drew, and Sam, and his sister Nikki Howe, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Curtis Greene
ARCHDALE — Curtis Duncan Greene, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital.
Mr. Greene was born on May 16, 1928 in Montgomery County a son of the late William R. and Maggie (Tucker) Greene.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952.
He was a former employee of Alma Desk and later of Davis Furniture until his retirement.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing with his family, and riding his bicycle.
Mr. Greene is survived by a daughter, Linda G. Sneed and her husband, Doug of Trinity; a son, Donald R. Greene and his wife, Molly of Archdale; five grandchildren, Gary Baker and his wife, Chas of CA, Christopher Sneed and his fiancé, Dee of Trinity; Kevin Greene and his, fiancé, Rebecca of Greensboro, Mark Greene and Cody Greene, both of Archdale; three great grandchildren, Skylar, Breckin, and Riggin Baker all of CA. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale with Rev. David Emery officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Harvey Hart
GREENSBORO — Mr. Harvey Graves Hart, 96, passed away on December 25, 2013 at The Hospice Home of High Point.
His graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Westminster Gardens.
Born April 29, 1917, Mr. Hart was a native of Chatham County and the son of late Ada Emerson and Thomas Richard Hart.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ruth Sutton Hart; sisters Irene H. Smoot, Hazel H. Davis, and brother Grover Hart.
He was the founder of Hart Appliances and operated it for over 40 years. 
Known for his leadership abilities, compassion for others, and  dedication to his faith, Harvey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro where he served as a Deacon, on the Finance Committee, a Sunday school teacher, and member of the Caldwell Bible Class.
He is survived by his children Louvenia H. Smith and husband Jerry of Greensboro; Betty H. Royal and husband Jimmy of High Point; and Joseph Wilson Hart and wife Tanya of Walnut Cove; six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and very special friend Carolyn Kirkman.

Edward Jones
THOMASVILLE — Dr. Edward Lenoir Jones, 88, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Henry Etta & Bruce Hinkle Hospice House.  Born on November 20, 1925, he was the son of the late Reverend and Mrs. E.M. Jones.  A native North Carolinian, Dr. Jones graduated from Gastonia High School, High Point College, and Duke University.  Dr. Jones was a General Practitioner in Thomasville from 1957 through 1980.  Well loved by his patients, Dr. Jones enjoyed practicing medicine, especially when delivering babies.  He also had a passion for Tennessee Walking Horses.  He was a US Navy veteran having served during WWII.  Dr. Jones is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne Alman Jones of Thomasville; two sisters, Elizabeth Payne of Weaverville and Ida Ruth Alman of Asheboro; and various family members and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Fair Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Allan Van Meter and Mrs. Jane Baity officiating followed by visitation and dinner for everyone in the church family life center.  A private burial will precede the service.  Memorials may be directed to Fair Grove UMC for the sound system fund, 138 Fair Grove Church Rd. LEXINGTON — Bryce Hunt Kearns, 80, of Willis Street, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.

Milton Long Jr.
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Milton Whittford (Buddy) Long, Jr., 85, a resident of 172 Clarkann Drive, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. He was born in Davidson County, July 22, 1928 a son of Milton W. Long, Sr. and Gladys Hill Long. He served in the US  Army and was of the Methodist faith. He had retired as showroom manager from Bassett Furniture Industries. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to travel. He was first married to Elizabeth Mae Cox Long who preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Judith Cook Long of the home; a son, Daniel E. (Danny) Long and his wife Judy of Greensboro; a step-daughter, Robin Michelle Carwile and her husband William Michael Carwile of Ft. Mill, SC; a brother, Edward Long of Green Valley, AZ. Also surviving are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 27, 2013 at 2 PM at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville by the Rev. Bynum Orr. Burial will be in Johnsontown United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 1 PM until the hour of service. Sarah Mitchell
HIGH POINT - Ms. Sarah Mitchell, 64, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. She was born in High Point on May 28, 1949 to the late Henry and Louella Mitchell. 
Sarah was a 1967 graduate of William Penn High School and retired from High Point University.
Also preceding her in death, one brother, James Mitchell; two sisters, Geraldine Norton and Betty Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Timothy Mitchell, one daughter, Traci McKoy both of High Point, NC; one sister, Mrs. Roberta McMillan of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Terry and Tre McKoy, Sydney and Timothy Mitchell Jr., Sherry McClendon; great-grandchildren, Amani and True Mitchell all of High Point, NC; three special family friends, Abraham McGuire Jr., Sadie Nelson and Serena Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and other times at the home, 947 Council St.

Ruth Reavis
COLFAX — Ruth Irene Lain Reavis, 90, of Colfax, formerly of 3126 South Main St, Winston Salem and 1317 Glenwood Rd, Kernersville, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at River Landing.
She was born January 5, 1923 in Winston Salem, NC, a daughter of Rev. Charles Anderson Lain and Bertha Albertson Lain.  She was a 1941 graduate of High Point High School.  During World War II, she worked in the Records Division of the Adjutant Generals Office for the U.S. Government.  She resigned from that position to fulfill her childhood dream to be a teacher.  She attended Allentown Bible Institute in Allentown, PA (1945-46) and then attended Pilgrim Bible College in Kernersville, NC (1946-47) where she was a member of the Mixed Chorus, Girls Chorus, Ladies Quartet and a member of the editorial staff of the “Dixie Echoes” college newspaper publication.  She transferred to High Point College in 1947 and graduated from there in 1950 with an AB degree.  While there, she was elected “Miss Future Teacher of High Point College.”  She attended UNCG 1951-53, receiving her Masters Degree in Education.  She taught two years at Johnson Street Elementary School (1950-52) in High Point, NC and 33 years in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools, retiring on July 1, 1985.  During those years, she taught at the following schools: Southpark Elementary School (1952-57); Easton Elementary School (1957-58); Wiley Elementary School (1958-59); Brunson Elementary School (1959-1966); and Sherwood Forest Elementary School (1966-1985).  She taught eight years in the Academically Talented classes in the Winston Salem-Forsyth County Schools.  She was Teacher of the Year at Brunson Elementary School, Winston Salem, NC and was Teacher of the Year twice at Sherwood Forest Elementary School.  She was a member of the following professional organizations: NEA; NCAE; ACT; ACE; NCCTM; IRA; and the Council of Exceptional Children.  She was a member of First Wesleyan Church in High Point where she was formerly a Youth Director, Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher.  In later years she attended Kernersville Wesleyan Church.  She was also an avid Wake Forest Basketball fan.
She was married to Odis Rual Reavis on July 19, 1952 who predeceased her on May 9, 2000.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, James, Rev. Charles, Rev. Carl, John, Ernest, Rev. Paul, Clarence and Grady Lain; one sister, Mary Scism; and two half-brothers, Henry Elmer Lain and Winfred Lee Lain.
Surviving are three sisters-in-law, Ruth Kimble of Biscoe, NC; Ethel Carter of High Point, NC; and Pansy Hayworth & husband, Willie, of Thomasville, NC; one brother-in-law, Richard Reavis of High Point, NC; 17 nieces and nephews, 45 great-nieces and nephews, 72 great-great nieces and nephews and 21 great-great-great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday at Kernersville Wesleyan Church with Rev. Phil Hulen, Rev. Don Martin officiating.  Interment will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park in High Point, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.

Alice Wright
THOMASVILLE — Mrs. Alice Faye Summey Wright, 76, a resident of Hickory Trail, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Liberty Wood Nursing Center.  She was born on April 16, 1937 in Davidson County to the late Everett D. Summey and the late Orpha Lanier Summey.  She retired from Winn-Dixie in Thomasville and Lowe’s Food in Thomasville.
On March 16, 1956, she married Richard Franklin (Dick) Wright, who survives of the home; also surviving are Robbie Wright of Denton, who she considered to be her son; and Sam Wright of Wallburg and Josh Wright of Jacksonville, NC, both of whom she considered grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with Mrs. Judy Gardner officiating.  Mrs. Wright will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until the hour of the graveside service. No formal visitation will be held.
