Hansel Beeson Jr.
GREENSBORO — Hansel Clarkson Beeson Jr., 82, a resident of the Sedgefield Community, died Dec. 17, 2013.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Brown
RAMSEUR — Thomas M. Brown, 71, of Ramseuer, died Dec. 17, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center following an extended illness.

Pamela Clark
THOMASVILLE — Pamela Wynne Clark, 46, of Kinney Avenue, passed Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at her residence.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at 12 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church with family visitation a half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. Public viewing will be held at Prominence Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, from 1-7 p.m.
She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 12, 1967, to the late Furman Clark and Beulah Thompson Clark.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Christian Lamar Clark and Brace McKnight Crawford both of the home; one grandson, Amir Kai’Von Elijah Moore of Greensboro; her mother, Beulah T. Clark of the home; her siblings, Daphne (Tommy) Jenkins, Valerie (Perez) McClary, Yolanda Renee Clark of Hampton, Va., James Frederick Clark of Chicago and Justin Lamar Clark of Miami, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Maynell Davenport
KERNERSVILLE — Mary “Maynell” Hedgecock Davenport, 69, a grandmother who dearly loved her grandchildren, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. 
She was born Nov. 28, 1944, in Guilford Co. to the late Ray Reitzel Hedgecock, Sr. and Rosa Glascoe Hedgecock.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Ray Davenport, Sr. on Dec. 13, 2011; daughter, Lisa Davenport; three sisters and three brothers.
Surviving are her daughter, Cammie Cain and husband, Scott; son, Lewis Ray Davenport, Jr. and wife, April; five grandchildren, Matt and Ryan Cain, Lily, Lewis, and Eli Davenport; two brothers, Reitzel and Frank Hedgecock; and several special nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.

John Willie Eaddy
HIGH POINT — Mr. John Willie Eaddy, 74 passed away on Dec. 12, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. 
He was born in Bennettsville, SC to the late James Willie and Mozella Eaddy. He attended Marlboro County Schools. John enjoyed fishing and loved his family.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mazuria Eaddy and one sister, Rosella Eaddy.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his daughter, Carolyn Hunter of High Point; one son, John Willie Eaddy Jr. of Connecticut; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two brothers, Sam B. Eaddy of High Point and Frank Jr. Eaddy Page Lane, SC; one sister, Lillie Marie Smith and brother in law, James E. Smith both of High Point, two aunts, Lillie Mae Williams of Winston Salem and Thurneze Vereen of Greensboro; a special friend, Diane White; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be 1:00pm, Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Solid Rock Baptist Church. Family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the church.  Burial will be held in Oakwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the daughter’s home located at 1315 Tipton St.  Professional services entrusted to People’s Funeral & Cremation Services.

Rocky Edwards
BLADENBORO — Rocky Dale Edwards, 51, of High Point, died Thursday Dec. 5 at his home in Bladenboro.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation Center in Jamestown.

Walter Knox Grffin Sr.
HIGH POINT — Mr. Walter Knox Griffin, Sr., age 80, (Walt) has gone to be with our Savior Dec. 14, 2013. 
He died at River Landing at Sandy Ridge.
Mr. Griffin, Sr., was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Kings Mountain, NC a son of Ellerbe Wilson Griffin and Mable Kurfees Griffin.  He grew up with teachings of Central Methodist Church’s Sunday School and M.Y.F.  Along with the Christian teachings at his church, his mom always took time to talk with him about what it means to be a Christian in everyday life.  Walt’s Dad taught him the importance of character, honesty, hard work, and to always do your very best.
Mr. Griffin attended the public schools in Kings Mountain where he got a good education, made many friends and had lots of fun.
Walt enjoyed “Boy Scouts” as well as athletics and band.  He was president of the Methodist Youth Fellowship his Junior Year.  He was a member of the monogram, drama, and French Clubs. He graduated in 1951.
Mr. Griffin served during the Korean War in the U. S. Navy 1951-1955.  He was attached to the Naval Aviation Squadron VJ-62.  He was on detachment overseas during most of his service years.  He still has a number of friends from those years.  They continue to gather regularly in Sanford, Fla., which was VJ-62’s home port.
After his military service he attended UNC Chapel Hill from 1955–1959, studying Pharmacy and Chemistry.  He was a member of Kappa Psi, a professional Pharmaceutical Fraternity.  He also served as vice president of his sophomore class in Pharmacy school.
Walt was employed for more than 40 years as a Technical Sales Representative, selling Chemicals for use in the Textile Industry.  He was employed by the 3M Co., Callaway’s Chemicals and Sybron Chemicals Inc., where he retired in December of 2000.  During these years he was an active member of the American Association of Textile Colorists and Chemist from 1963 until his death, serving on several committees.
Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters; Mrs. Robert Bargar (Je’anne) and husband Bob and his sister Nancy Luzene Griffin.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his son Walter K. Griffin, Jr. (Toby) and his wife Kathryn Landrus Griffin and two granddaughters Mallory Ingram and Martha Griffin of Thomasville, NC.    Also survived by his lovely daughter Rebecca Griffin Lee, (Lori) and her husband Andy Chun-an Lee of Springfield, Va. and two grandsons, Gabriel and Jacob Lee.
He is also survived by his brother Wilson Griffin and his wife Sara of Kings Mountain and their daughter Myra Wallace of Wilson, NC.  He also has nephews David Bargar and Douglas Bargar and nieces Allison Churchill and Nancy Bargar.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service in the Multi-Purpose Room of River Landing at Sandy Ridge on Friday December 20th at 3 p.m.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.
A second Memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21st at 3 p.m. in Central United Methodist Church of Kings Mountain, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 until the hour of the service.  Following the Memorial Service, Mr. Griffin will be inurned in the church columbarium. 
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Building Fund of Central United Methodist Church, 113 South Piedmont Avenue, Kings Mountain, NC 28086 or to the American Cancer Fund in your local area.
Mr. Griffin had a phrase he enjoyed using, “Work hard and pray and love life.”  (WHAP-ALL).  He used it almost everyday.  He was a happy and positive person. Please offer your condolences with the family at

LEXINGTON — Dorothy Nell Hine Hill, 78, died Dec. 15, 2013.

Peggy Hinkle
HIGH POINT — Mrs. Peggy Blackwelder Hinkle, 79 of High Point, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013.
She was surrounded by her loved ones; the way she lived her life, loving her family and being loved by them. Peggy was born June 30, 1934 in Iredell County a daughter of the late Evelyn Blackwelder Parker and Jack Blackwelder. She was member of  Shiloh Baptist Church, Hamptonville, NC. Her joy in life was her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Sollie “ Frank” Hinkle, Jr.
Surviving are her children, Vicki Smith Motsinger and her husband Jerry of Winston-Salem, Timothy Wayne Smith of New Orleans, LA, Jonathon Scott Hinkle and wife Sharon of High Point, Steven Hinkle of Knoxville, TN, and Vickie Hill of Knoxville, TN, her grandchildren, Heather Motsinger Aley and husband Matthew of Billings, MT, Zachary Motsinger and wife Felecia of Winston-Salem, Colby Hinkle of Archdale, Patrick Hinkle and Kayla Hinkle of Knoxville, TN, 5 great grandchildren, sister Jacque “ Sissy” Allen and husband Jack of Kernersville, two brothers, Richard Parker and wife Marie of Gray, TN, and Barry Parker of Greensboro, NC, She is also survived by her Aunt Jean Pardue of High Point, and cousin Janice Kruer of Morehead City, NC with whom she shared a special friendship.
Funeral services will be held  at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at J.C. Green and Sons  Funeral Home, Wallburg Chapel, 10301 N. NC Highway 109, Winston-Salem with the Rev. Dr. Jim Simonds officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service on Friday.

Michael John Lyles
HIGH POINT — Mr. Michael John Lyles, 18, resident of High Point, died Dec. 17th, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Lyles was born July 2nd, 1995, in Guilford County and had been a resident of this area most of his life.  He graduated from High Point Central High School and later received a scholastic and music scholarship to Louisburg College, the same school his uncle, Danny Rowe, attended several years ago.  Michael attended Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and for many years sang in the choir at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.
Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Dozier Lyles of High Point; grandfather, Skip Lyles and wife Sally of Las Vegas; grandmother, Mary Dozier Lyles of High Point; great-grandmother, Edith Dozier of Colfax; two aunts, Edi Redmond of High Point and Emily Rowe and husband Danny of Charlotte; and four cousins, Jude, Davis and Lyla Rowe and Porter Redmond.  He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Frank Dozier, Nancy and George Lyles.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the sanctuary at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Alexander J. Peggy Martin
HIGH POINT — Peggy Pauline Meadows Martin, affectionately known as grandma “piggy”, 88, passed away after several years of declining health.
She was born in Virginia to the late Buferd Waldo Meadows and Myrtle Mae Clark.  Peggy was a secretary for the court system of Forsyth County. She is preceded in the death by her husband Carl Martin in 1968.
Peggy is survived by two daughters, Debbie Sink and husband Tony of Thomasville, Connie Martin and husband John Bishop, one sister Dorothy Stanley of Winston-Salem, one brother Thomas Meadows and wife Dale of Winston-Salem, two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, 10 a.m. at Sechrest Funeral Chapel in High Point. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park. There will be a visitation on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, 6-7:30 p.m. at Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point.
