Joseph M. Rowe Sr.
HIGH POINT — We lost another good man Friday night. Joseph M. Rowe Sr. died at High Point Regional Hospital after a few months of declining health. He was 89.
Joe was a soldier in WWII and Korea, then served with his family in Germany as Occupation Forces from 1951 to 1954. Ending his army career as a Chief Warrant Officer #2, Joe went to work for the US Postal Service downtown where he regaled his customers with tales and jokes. He was a lover of people, always happy and smiling. He attended Green St Baptist Church for most of his life, becoming a life time Deacon. His wife, Dorothy Loflin Rowe, died in 2008 and Joe missed her every day.
Those of us left who loved him are: sisters Eulyse Townsend, Gladys Todd and Alene Gause.  Sister in-law Bobbie Suggs, son Joseph M Rowe Jr and wife Connie, daughter Susan Rowe Shell, granddaughter Megan Davis Whitener and husband Rob, granddaughter Beth Rowe Farrand and husband Greg, granddaughter Mary Susan Rowe, great-grandsons Rowe, Zack and Dylan Farrand and neighbor Don McDaris who was like another son. And many nieces, nephews and friends. PawPaw, you will be missed.
Funeral services for Mr. Rowe will be held 1p.m. Wednesday at Green Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Frank Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Wednesday at the church from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

David Scott Hardin
LEXINGTON — David Scott Hardin, 51, of Esther Eigner Lane, Lexington, died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 13.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel.
There will be no public visitation.

Brenda Owens Hilliard
LEXINGTON — Brenda Owens Hilliard, 64, of Old Linwood Road, died Saturday, December 14, 2012, at Lexington Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Louise Everhart
LEXINGTON — Louise Owens Everhart, 85, of Pine Ridge Road, died Friday Dec. 13, 2013 in Winston Salem.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 17, 2013, at Beulah United Church of Christ.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the Church fellowship hall.

Guy Thomas Jarrett
TRINITY — Mr. Guy Thomas Jarrett, of Trinity, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at Hospice Home at High Point.
He was born in Guilford County on April 29, 1920 to James Franklin and Myrtle McDowell Jarrett, but had resided in Trinity for most of his life. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Lee Walker Jarrett, who survives of the home. They were married on Aug. 29, 1944 and shared 69 years together. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his older brothers and sisters.
Guy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a long-time employee of Carolina Container Corp. He enjoyed gardening and shared his bountiful tomatoes with friends and family. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Trinity and was a member of the Senior Adult Bible Class. For many years, he and Dorothy served as Communion Stewards.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of the home; daughter, Patsy Jarrett Grooms and husband Joe of Lexington; grandson, Joe Grooms and wife Katherine of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Brandi Elizabeth and Alisha Grooms of Lexington; special niece, Sarah Bailey and husband Clyde of Thomasville, who were loving and devoted caregivers; and his special friends and neighbor, Pete Newton and wife Polly. Also surviving are half-sisters, Ann Dallman of Archdale, Carol Turner of Lansing, Ruby Hazelwood and husband Herbert of Archdale; and half-brother, Jerry Jarrett and wife Tootsie of Trinity, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Reverend Ken Spencer.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street, Thomasville, and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262; Hopewell United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Polly Newton, 7477 Welborn Rd., Trinity, NC 27370; or Victory Junction Gang; 4500 Adams Way, Randleman, NC 273717.
The family would like to thank those special people at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation who cared for Guy; the ER and ICU nurses and doctors at Thomasville Medical Center; and the loving and compassionate people at Hospice Home at High Point, who are proof that God’s angels do exist on Earth.
Guy was an honorable man, a loving and loyal person, and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

LEXINGTON — Barbara Harper Jones, 81, formerly of W. Old Highway 64, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 in Lexington.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
